National Guard Ambushed in Culiacán

"Redlogarythm" for Borderland Beat

On May 10th 2023 several social media accounts -see the links here and here-  posted a video which showed the aftermath of an ambush against a National Guard convoy.

The soldiers, who were travelling in several pick-ups, were shot at from a wooded area located at the right side of the road. Due to the way National Guard pick-up trucks are designed -with their trunks open and a bench used by infantrymen to take seat- the vehicles don´t offer any cover for their passengers. Criminal groups know this and are known for organizing highly planned coordinated surprise attacks against military and police convoys all across the country.

In the images we can see at least five different pick-up trucks halted in a rural road, some of them being used by the National Guards as cover. One of them has its doors open and presents several bullet impacts, including a flat tire. The floor is riddled with 5.56 mm cartridges and FX-O5 Xiuhcoatl emptied mags, clear signs of a recent intense gun battle.

Two wounded National Guards lie on the pavement

Two of the passengers are lying on the pavement, their white camo uniforms soaking blood, while their comrades provide both cover and basic first aid. In the trunk of the bullet-riddled van there is a deceased soldier, a very young man.

A young National Guard lies death in the trunk of the first. On the road, four FX-05 Xiuhcoatl emptied mags

The exact place of the attack is still unknown since no municipal, state or federal authorities have issued any official statement, nor the SEDENA or the National Guard.

The wooded area from which the shots were fired upon the National Guards. Observe the steel bench mounted in the open trunk of the pick-up

Despite this official radio silence social media and Red Michoacán have stated that the attack has taken place somewhere in the outskirts of Culiacán, a fact that has led to pointing towards "Los Chapitos" faction of the Sinaloa Cartel as the ones responsible for this ambush.

Members of the National Guard take cover behind their vehicles in the aftermath of the battle

Although there´s still no evidence linked this new event to "Los Chapitos" faction it must be stressed that on the night of May 9th, a few hours before the attack, a SEDENA or SEMAR helicopter flew at low altitude over some areas of the city of Culiacán, specially through the neighborhoods of Valle Alto, Colonia Pemex, Barrancos and Palmito. It is possible that both events are connected.

    9. DEA agents have been operating in Mexico for 50 years and continue to operate. They just don’t lead investigations and I don’t know the current status they have in certain circumstances and during certain periods of times have been allowed to carry weapons but those are exceptions what’s more important is that the CIA is and they’re the ones doing the behind the scenes dirt that would make most of us throw up and make the cook cartels look like they have compassion and empathy

    11. 10:08 am - There's a difference between fighting marxists and religious zealots and fighting a bunch of skinny jeans-wearing tweakers who who are constantly snitching each other out.

Either way, it shouldn't be necessary for the USA to get involved... Only in MX would you have armed people riding around in pick-up trucks in broad daylight in open country with ZERO concern about getting shredded by the miniguns that the military has on their helicopters, but won't use, because the generals are on the narco payroll.

      Delete
    12. 12:31: There is not a single fact to back your statement; and it I invite one compelling argument to back up your comment to differentiate the committed forces of what you call “religious zealots” and “Marxists” and “fighters in skinny jeans”.
All of these purposes are indoctrinated into the fighters, the fighters ar motivated to fight for their and their family’s safety; and all 3 “types of armed conflicts” benefitted from local battleground knowledge and fighting conditions.
Go back to US recent military conflicts and look at how a US trained Blackhawk choppers where taken down in Mexico and how nobody in Mexico, Afghanistan, Iraq, and several areas where US and / Mexican government gets smoked in ravines, rural ambush locations, etc b/c their missions are always leaked, and even if not their presence is always communicated to combatants who have the advantage of the element of surprise and knowledge of terrain.

AMLO made the salaries of federal judges public. He also listed the benefits they receive and what these federal judges fought so hard against in the "plan B" reform, AMLO introduced earlier this year. Some of the benefits AMLO was trying to strip these judges of were stuff cosmetic surgery benefits, 17k monthly salaries, more than what AMLO makes, and food and alcoholic drink allowances. It's crazy how the media spun the news to where the ignorant masses went out and protested against these reforms. The media plays a huge role in Mexico and the U.S on how they sway the publics opinions.

    8. 248, si es corrupta, que la saquen. So back to my question Fifi. Do you think the judges deserve 20k monthly salaries, 1 month paid vacations and airfare, 2 bulletproof suburbans replaced every two years all while unfreezing Genaro Garcia Lunas bank accounts the day he was sentenced in the U.S? You know these mexican judges get paid more than American and German federal Judges? Do you think these crooked judges should be voted in by the Pueblo or by their colleagues? Do you think "Plan B" is a bad redorm? I bet you do Chayotero. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "No al plan B, No a la corrupcion! Que no token a los jueses!"

    9. 7:25 Chairo do you even know what you write? Do you have DID? Relax ese or ene.
Tell me how do ministros/jueces arrive to SCJN? To my limited comprehension the same basic process is used just as in the US Supreme Court. Perhaps local and maybe some state judges are elected in México, IDK, but unless you're saying that el Plan B will change the process for the SCJN I don't understand what you're complaining or critiquing. All public servants need a salary reduction but also the number of them needs to be reduced. BADLY.
Neta buey AMLO had the opportunity to really change México with the mandate he got when elected but the power has corrupted him. Ni modo. Understandably you gotta keep sheeping along with AMLOs lunacy.🤔😒🤫😆😅😂🤣

"...All public servants need a salary reduction but also the number of them needs to be reduced. BADLY...."

And here you are agreeing with it the Plan B reform...

I know you want to come off as completely anti AMLO but it's not the first time I catch you contradicting yourself. You agree with AMLO even when you don't want to admit it. LOL. Pa mi que el "Chairo" eres tu.

    2. I can see that as a real possibility. Mayo is known for getting people out of the way by any means necessary and I believe he’s behind a lot of things most of us might never know anything about . For as long as he’s been in the game and never gotten spent a day in jail … says a lot . I believe he has some type of an agreement with the DEA because the odds of someone as big as him never being caught after 40+ years is like winning the powerball lottery a few times . Im not hating him at all because he obviously understands how to play the game better than those before him, those current and most likely those that are up and coming . The lower echelons get brainwashed into a street type of code where ratting on your comrades puts an instant green light on you . Yet he’s at a level where when he does it, no one bats an eye . I used to be in that type of lifestyle for many years and live by the same warped street code mentality all the while the real big dogs sit in multimillion dollar mansions, laughing at us like hamsters on a wheel, knowing we don’t see that we never will make it anywhere permanently (except prison or the cemetery)no matter how hard we try. I’m very happy today to say I work a 9-5 job like most people, and am 100 happier than I ever was with pockets full of money , knowing eventually one day my door would be busted down by the letter boys(Feds) and I would be taken away from my kids and wife, all my ill gotten gains seized… and for what ?? Diamonds ,hoes and clothes ? It definitely isn’t worth it . Hell especially if you’ve already got prior convictions and you know their going to double your mandatory minimum sentence next time the cards come crashing down .

was it March 10th when the ambush happened, and May 9th when the helicopters were flying low in Culiacan?

I remember the helicopters flying low in Culiacan on April 9th, just 4 days before the indictments were unsealed on April 14th 2023

is the article referencing low flying helicopters from May 9th, meaning a few days ago? or is it just a typo
