Jalisco: Who were the protagonists of the confrontation in Teocaltiche? (Friday)

“Ivan” for Borderland Beat

A clash between armed groups on the border of Jalisco and Zacatecas generated a violent day of violence.

Early Friday morning, vehicles were set on fire at two toll booths on the Guadalajara-Lagos de Moreno highway. The first event took place at the Jalostotitlán toll booth where a tractor-trailer and a van were set on fire, the driver of the truck was injured with first and second degree burns, his health condition is reported as stable and out of danger; at the San Miguel El Alto toll booth, a burned tractor-trailer, an urban van, a pickup truck and three sedans were secured, in these events there were no injuries or deaths.

These criminal acts were carried out due to a confrontation between armed groups at the crossroads between Teocaltiche and Nochistlán, on the border between Jalisco and Zacatecas, in order to prevent the arrival of security forces.

Where did the Teocaltiche confrontation take place and between whom?

The events took place in the early hours of the morning in the community of Apulco, in the municipality of Teocaltiche, Jalisco, bordering the municipality of Nochistlán, in Zacatecas; according to preliminary versions, the shootout began when groups of the New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel, which are disputing the control of that territory, clashed.

When elements of the Mexican Army intervened, the confrontation spread and some chases ensued, resulting in the burning of vehicles on the highway to hinder the authorities' efforts.

that resulted in the burning of vehicles on the highway to hinder the work of the authorities.

The governor of Jalisco reported the event on his social networks: "In the early morning there was a confrontation between alleged members of organized crime in the road crossings between Teocaltiche and Nochistlan, on the border with Zacatecas. Several vehicles were secured, some with armor plating and long weapons," he said.

He said that preliminarily it is known that there were no injuries and that the burned vehicles are already being removed by the authorities to free the road points that had been blocked.

  2. "No injuries in this confrontation". Of course, the dead and wounded were carried away by their respective cartels.

    3. 1:28 CDS are buying time in hopes that something happens to CJNG and they split, but i dont see that happening any time soon, this time the army came to aid the sinaloas but their luck is running out, every time theres a confrentation CJNG gets closer to teocaltiche next time the army might not be able to help CDS, this guys are in the worst situation you want to be if you are a CDS member

  9. El Gera is the Jefe for Nochistlan and a few other municipalities in that area for CJNG. In 2017 this belonged to Santa Rosa de Lima cartel.

If CDS is bringing the fight here, they are making some serious progress!

This armored vehicle would be long to a regional leader. Considering the progress of CDS, I would bet The Elite Group run by RR is actively involved as they operate on that Jalisco border and the group defeated El Maro in the same area.

    2. CDS obviously didn’t bring the fight if the shooting was in teocal, the CJNG has gone multiple times to take over but the chapiza just hides and doesn’t want war, sooner or later they will lose that plaza and CJNG will take over, and that armor truck was the commanders

    3. Mica:
The CDS is defending it's own territory here. Mario Gonzalez and his father are from Teocaltiche. Most of the independent operators in the area, like the Jauregui and Sandoval families, are aligned with or work for Mario Gonzalez and have been working for his father for decades.
There are hundreds of Gonzalez people who have been in the game for decades and whose families have lived in this area for more than 100 years. This area is their home. This will be one of the toughest areas for CJNG to take, if they are even able to take it at all. Even if they are successful at taking the area, there will be too many remnants of Gonzalez people left for CJNG to fully control it.
Not too many people here will switch sides voluntarily. This is, and will continue to be, one brutal fight.

    4. 2:45 wasnt teocaltiche CDS strong hold in Jalisco? Pretty much the only plaza they have in Jalisco?

    5. @mica I’m not sure if you mis-spoke but I’m from this area and can say with 100% certainty that CSRL has never had a presence in this area. Don Mario González Gutiérrez controlled or had a presence in this and surrounding areas since the 80s until his death in the late 2000s. His son is hanging on to Teocaltiche, Villa Hidalgo, Encarnación de Díaz, and disputing Apulco. I hear he may still have a presence in Aguascalientes. Before Don Mario a trafficker who went by el Rutas controlled Nochistlán until he was killed by a teenager eating birria. Don Mario worked with the Chapo side of CDS. Don Mario jr is friends with IAG and dated one of his cousins. I’ve heard it reported here that his son might be allied with Mayos or Nueva Plaza but have never heard that from anyone here. Keep up the good work here at Borderland Beat!

    7. Thanks for sharing !! yes I also have friends from that area and they told me the same thing as you that Mario Gonzales (dad) controlled that area for years and was compadre of Chapo Guzman. Yes there is articles out there that state that Ivan Archivaldo Guzman and Mario Gonzales (son-who currently is the leader in that area fighting CJNG) where childhood friends and Mario Jr. dated a cousin of IAG.

What Mica was referring to was CSRL people working for CJNG, not CSRL itself being in the area. You clearly know what is going on in Teocaltiche and your input is greatly appreciated.
Also, it's hard to get accurate updates on this area. If you can safely provide accurate updates, that will be greatly appreciated as well.

    10. Front page news from Estados on 3/15/23 with a big picture of El Gera and his 500k Peso rewards. Also pictures of them patrolling and how they control the city through the contacts through the municipality cameras.

Article starts off “No one enters or leaves Apulco, Zacatecas, without being guarded by the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), which controls the vertex that makes up that municipality with the states of Jalisco and Aguascalientes. Kidnappings, threats and the freedom of the criminals to break into Apulco made the municipal authorities flee the place and carry out their functions from other locations.“

    11. That reward is fake, it doesn't exist in the files, that reward was published by a Teocaltiche newspaper that works for the Castro family, people of Mario González. He is the one who offers the bounty on Geras head.
With the help of the national guard they have been persecuting him for months, a year ago they were about to arrest him which started a shootout where 3 soldiers died but he managed to escape. Teocaltiche is the line of defense to protect the true jewel in Mario's crown, Villa Hidalgo.
That is what matters most to them because from there they get most of their resources to finance the war with the cjng since the money from drug trafficking disappears to pay for army protection.

    2. Yes because I'm still really curious to read that one. I've not yet reached the point to say who was actually involved; Damasos and/or Mencho.
It was long time ago that I read here some reliable sounding info about the kidnap team/ sicarios faction's name and how they were killed afterwards on Chapos orders etc.
      Can't remember though.
