Investigation police officer shot to death in Fresnillo, Zacatecas

A member of the Investigative Police (PDI) was shot at Tuesday morning in Fresnillo, Zacatecas; after being taken to a hospital, he died while receiving medical attention.

The incident occurred at around 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday in the community of Estación San José, near the railroad tracks.

According to the State Attorney General's Office (FGJE), the agent was shot at by unknown subjects, who shot him repeatedly causing severe injuries.

Due to the seriousness of the incident, witnesses decided to transfer the man in a private vehicle to a hospital in Fresnillo, however, he died while receiving medical attention.

The FGJE detailed that other elements of the Investigation Police remained at the site, as well as personnel from the General Directorate of Forensic Services (DGSP).

They were in charge of the expert analysis and later of the removal of the body that was in the hospital.

The Zacatecas Prosecutor's Office reiterated its condemnation of the reprehensible attack against the investigative police officer.

This is the third police officer to be murdered so far this year in Zacatecas, as on Monday morning an element of the Highway Safety Police Directorate in Calera was shot to death.

    poor Mexico. This beautiful, wonderful Country, with some of the best and warmest people anywhere, ( and always gracious to me in my younger years), being treated this way. It's too much.

  2. Zacatecas has been doing quite well in cleaning up it's state police. This police officer was most likely one of the honest ones. Thanks to the courage and honesty of these police officers, more and more miscreants are being held accountable for their actions. This is a long term effort. I believe in the coming years that peace will return to Mexico.
