Los Cuini's Leader Jose "Chepa" Gonzalez-Valencia Pleads Guilty to Cocaine Trafficking

"Socalj" for Borderland Beat

In December 2017, Brazilian authorities arrested Gonzalez-Valencia, 47, at the request of the United States. He was extradited from Brazil to the United States in November 2021.

According to court documents, between 2006 and October 2016, Jose "El Chepa" or "Cameron" Gonzalez-Valencia was a leader of the Los Cuinis, an international drug trafficking organization (DTO) responsible for importing large quantities of cocaine from Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, and elsewhere into the United States. "El Chepa" was also considered the financial brain of Los Cuinis and CJNG. Gonzalez-Valencia is the brother of Los Cuinis leaders Abigael Gonzalez-Valencia and Gerardo Gonzalez-Valencia. He is the brother-in-law of Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the CJNG. Following Abigael, better known as "El Cuini's" arrest, Jose "El Chepa" became the head of Los Cuinis.

Los Cuinis is closely aligned with the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG). Together, Los Cuinis and CJNG form one of Mexico's largest, most dangerous, and most prolific drug cartels.

“Gonzalez Valencia worked with Los Cuinis and the CJNG to bring thousands of kilos of drugs into the United States,” said Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite, Jr. of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “This case sends a clear message that the Criminal Division is committed to protecting our communities, dismantling the drug trafficking organizations that prey on them for profit, and holding traffickers like Gonzalez Valencia accountable.”

Jose Gonzalez-Valencia was able to hide out in Bolivia for 2 years thanks to a false identity under the
name Jafett Arias Becerra.

After his brother "El Cuini" was arrested, "El Chepa" fled Mexico in 2015, hiding out in Bolivia and using a false identity. Authorities captured him in December 2017 in Brazil while on vacation. He was eventually extradited in November 2021 to the United States on drug trafficking charges.

Gonzalez-Valencia pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, knowing and intending that it would be imported into the United States. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 7, 2023, and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a statutory maximum sentence of life imprisonment. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

This case is supported by the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). The DEA Los Angeles Field Division is investigating the case. Acting Assistant Deputy Chief Kaitlin Sahni and Trial Attorneys Kate Naseef and Kirk Handrich of the Criminal Division’s Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section are prosecuting the case. The Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs provided significant assistance.

    4. STFU with your corner boy teenage ''snitching'' bullshit. It makes no sense. Cartel watchers moaning about snitching is like a soldier whining about violence. ''Snitching'' only matters in a landscape with where the groups are seperated, and the lawbreakers and the lawmakers are seperate and defined. If one group owns the other group, if the cartel runs the State Police, if different cabals of the army are being infiltrated on the say so of the bosses, if a commander is running a hit Squad, WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Absolutely fuck all. You are like children trying to understand how the world works, so clinging on to the only thing you know.

  3. 9:59 you obviously don't know how the system works inside of jail when your fighting a case.
Rule # 1 you don't take the first offer.
You wait for prosecuter to lower the time and wait for it for a long while. If you have a good attorney he will make it happen sooner.
If cjng were snitches like the snitchaloas, his time would be higher and no chance for a plea agreement from prosecuter and he will see you in trial with all the snitches like chapo in NY.
I seen a case in Phoenix from 4 sinaloa cats trying to get a better plea deal with prosecuter but they were not to bright. They waited a bit to long abdvthe next fraze was trial. Instead of getting less time on their offer from prosecuter, they got more time. 🤦‍♂️
I later found out they all snitched on each other and also themselves

    5. Depends on the situation really. But I agree, a good lawyer will always get you a plea for less time. You’re better off taking it. I have a cousin from Gdl who was facing 15 years federal time in Indiana for buying guns and taking them to Mexico. Well, he tried and got caught at the border. They offered him 2 to snitch or the 15. He took the 15 and was told he’d do 85% of that which was 8.5. Due to COVID, he got out in about 5 and is in Gdl living like a king for the simple fact that he didn’t snitch on who else was involved. He’s doing close to nothing now for those guys and probably making a killing. He has to be if he’s driving a Lambo. Back to your point, lawyer up and go from there. Most guys just start talking on day 1. It’s nuts how the Sinaloas just eat on everyone. But I mean, if the big wigs are doing it, what message does that send to the low level guys?

    10. In a fed case the gov holds all the cards! There are sentencing guidelines that are usually strictly adhered to. It didn’t say If he pled with or without cooperation. Which is huge! One is basically an open plea where it’s completely up to the judge. The other there is a loose agreement in place that the judge can still reject and sentence how judge sees fit. Unless he knows where large sums of monies are, or old high profile unsolved murders, corruption, because I’m sure all other trafficking related info is stale and outdated! Due to his relations and the viciousness of said relations he will be punished severely. My guess is 40 years! Rot in hell scumbag! Hopefully you suffer in ADX Florence. There you will be just another scumbag locked in a cell and being legally mentally tortured. Your days of being a big shot and playing God are OVER!

They will use this Mexican as an example and say Mexicans Transport all the drugs and bla bla bla... knowing damn well the gringos are the main shot callers making deals with mexican cartels like cds to later lock them up and use them as examples too..
They use this in EVERY election and those pendejos still believe they will make a change in America to stop drugs smh
