16 Year Old Killed In Guerrero As Extortion-Related Violence Of Chicken Sellers Continues

By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat

This morning around 7 a.m., a 16 year old chicken salesman was shot and killed in Chilpancingo, Guerrero. This killing is likely linked to extortion by violent criminal groups in the area.

The victim has been identified as José Eduardo N. He was driving a red Nissan pickup truck on Vicente Guerrero Boulevard of Colonia López Portillo when he was shot and killed. Photos of the event show his body sitting slumped in the drivers seat, struck and killed by gunfire.

According to Quadratin Guerrero, pistol caliber casings were found at the crime scene. There are no suspects yet.

In July, Milenio reported that the spate of killings of chicken salesmen in Chilpancingo was perpetrated by organized crime groups who extort them. The murders frightened the sellers so much that for days, local market stalls were empty, and people could not purchase chicken.

While the plight of the sellers no longer reaches headlines, criminal groups continue their violent oppression.

    1. 50USD a week and driving that truck?, update your facts... Life in Mexico is cheap, but not that much... its not Somalia or Haiti....

    2. Nobody gets to drive a junk like that from selling pollos, unless he got a monopoly or owns a Million Dollar Chicken franchise

    3. Thats not a luxury truck either... that model of Nissan is purposed mostly for businesses, but not necessarily a cheap vehicle. However the amount you mentioned is unrealistic even for most employees, and a small food merchant can easily get that type of vehicles in Mexico.

  2. Don't tell me it was the Baby killer cartel aka CJNG.
They are extorting anything and everything.
The new wave extorting chicken salesmen.
Why can't they just stick to Drug Sales at retail.
I remember back then they were killing clowns for not paying piso. Sir is a clown and don't know how he gets away from paying piso.

    1. I am sure the more chickens he sold the better, and would cover the monthly auto loan payment.

    2. That model of truck is minded for business, not fancy at all. And a food business can be profitable enough, although it is possible some type of involvement.

  4. Is there anything one can do to try to make a living without cartel involvement? Avocado Farmers, Taxi Drivers, Auto Repairmen, Chicken Seller's, all attacked. Dammed if you do, damned if you don't.

    1. The best thing is for law abiding citizens to arm themselves. Practice to become proficient is shooting guns.
