Villa Juárez, San Luis Potosí: An Armed Criminal Cell Abducts A Policeman

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

A group of armed men broke into the Municipal Public Security facilities in Villa Juárez, in the state of San Luis Potosí, on Wednesday to abduct an officer from its headquarters.

This event was recorded by security cameras, where it is possible to observe the moment in which a navy blue Dodge Journey SUV is parked in front of the building, and from which five men with long weapons descend.

After a few seconds, the men take the officer against his will from the security compound, then load him into the vehicle and flee in a hurry.

It was later reported that the truck was stolen hours before from its owners on a highway in the region, between Rioverde and Cerritos.

Regarding the security element that was kidnapped by the armed subjects, so far nothing is known about his whereabouts.

It should be noted that on the second floor of the building that houses the facilities of the Municipal Police are the offices of the Public Ministry, and to one side is the mayor’s office of the municipality of Villa Juárez.

So far, no authority has commented on the alleged kidnapping of an officer, despite the fact that this afternoon a robust joint operation of state and federal forces was carried out in the area, both by land and by air.
