The attempted murder of a man in Cadereyta Jimenez, in the state of Nuevo León, was caught on surveillance footage.

The Attempted Hit

On June 8, 2022, at approximately 8:52 pm, a bright yellow SEAT Ibiza model vehicle (SEAT is a Spanish car manufacturer) pulled up on Gomero Street, near a man who was standing on a sidewalk, in the Valle de Los Encinos neighborhood of the town of Cadereyta Jimenez.

The man on the sidewalk, who appears to be 20 - 25 years old, immediately becomes suspicious of the vehicle and begins to open the door to a building, moving to take shelter inside, when a gunman steps out of the yellow vehicle’s passenger side and begins opening fire on him.

The man from the sidewalk manages to slip inside and avoid most of the gunshots, which the hitmen continued to unload into the front of the building. Shortly after the video ends, the attackers fled the area in an unspecified direction.

According to newspaper El Norte, the man from the sidewalk suffered at least three gunshot wounds. Neighbors who heard the shot reported the incident to the emergency phone line and officers were dispatched to the area. The victim was rushed by paramedics to the nearest hospital where he is reportedly in serious condition. More than 20 bullet shells were found at the scene of the shooting.

Gunmen Arrested

A few hours later, a suspicious yellow Ibiza vehicle was spotted by officers who had previously been alerted to the shooting. The vehicle was spotted on Plumbago Street in the Jardines de Cadereyta neighborhood. The vehicle was pulled over for a search and officers found the two men inside to be in possession of ammo and a package of marijuana.

The two men were arrested and they are said to be named Jair and Josue, with some local reports alleging the two are brothers.
