Historic Drug Seizure Of Sinaloa Cartel In CDMX; Operators Detained By Federal Forces

 "Ivan" for Borderland Beat

Detectives carried out searches in 10 properties located in Xochimilco, Coyoacan, Tlalpan, and Gustavo A. Madero.

The Investigative Police (PDI) achieved the largest drug seizure so far in the current administration and dealt one of the most decisive blows to the Sinaloa Cartel, not only because of the seizure but also because of the capture of its main operators in Mexico City.

In coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) and the National Intelligence Center (CNI), detectives searched 10 properties located in Xochimilco, Coyoacán, Tlalpan and Gustavo A. Madero, including two car lots, all used for the storage and distribution of narcotics and drugs.

The raids resulted in the capture of six people, including a woman and the senior partner of the criminal group identified as Juan "N", alias "Juanito", who coordinated drug shipments from South America to the state of Chiapas, apparently by air, according to the investigations.

Ulises Lara, spokesman for the Attorney General's Office of the capital city (FGJ) informed that in the raids, 350 packages of possible cocaine and 190 bags of marijuana were seized, as well as three handguns, two assault rifles, 31 vehicles and a weighing scale.

"The intelligence work carried out by personnel from this Prosecutor's Office made it possible to identify the activities of this criminal cell operating in the municipalities of Tlalpan, Coyoacán, Xochimilco, Tláhuac and Milpa Alta and in the states of Morelos, Guerrero, Nuevo León and Coahuila," he said.

Likewise, it was possible to learn the modus operandi and probable members in charge of bringing the drugs from South America to the state of Chiapas, from where they were transported in vehicles with hidden compartments to Mexico City, with final destination to the states of Nuevo Leon and Coahuila".

Federal authorities estimate that a kilo of uncut cocaine has a black market value of 375 thousand pesos, which multiplied by the 350 packages of cocaine, gives a value of approximately 131 million 250 thousand pesos.

The raids were carried out in properties located in the neighborhoods of Pedregal de Santa Ursula, Adolfo Ruiz Cortines, Cafetales and Girasoles II, in the Coyoacan district; Granjas Coapa and Media Luna, in Tlalpan; San Lorenzo la Cebada, in Xochimilco; Torres Lindavista, in Gustavo A. Madero.

Two car lots used for the same purpose were also seized and, according to the investigations, the cars used for trafficking were sold there and were used for money laundering.

In Mexico City, this criminal cell had drug sales and distribution operations in the municipalities of Tlalpan, Coyoacán, Xochimilco, Tláhuac and Milpa Alta, as well as in the states of Morelos, Guerrero, Nuevo León and Coahuila.

Those involved and all the material seized were handed over to the Prosecutor's Office for Relevant Matters, where the investigation file is being prepared in order to prosecute it and obtain the respective arrest warrant.

Antonio Nieto twitter account states,

"In September 2021, I anticipated that Los Chapitos were going for CDMX or Mexico City. Today, the Mexico City Attorney General's Office reported the seizure of 350 kilos of cocaine from the CDS, 137 of which were seized in Coyoacán. I warned on September of a meeting between Chapitos people right in Coyoacan."

  2. Good article Ivan. I think the quantity of drugs siezed is a great success, but far more important is what looks like the dismantling of a large part of their operation in the area.

By "largest drug seizure" do the authors mean specifically against CDS? Or all mexico in this admin?

    1. 12:38 - You obviously have not travelled much of the world to say Mexico is the most corrupt country in the world. Or read much history about the US’s repeated history of overthrowing democratically elected governments that went against US big business interests.
