Uruapan, Michoacán: Caught Between Clashes, Blockades And Burning Of Vehicles

Members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the United Cartels, clashed this Wednesday 110 kilometers from the Michoacán capital


The criminals set fire to the units to avoid being detained by the deployment of state and federal forces.

Inhabitants of the municipality of Uruapan, Michoacán, were trapped in a day of violence caused by organized crime groups.

Confrontations, blockades and burning of vehicles were part of what was experienced this Wednesday in that area located 110 kilometers from the Michoacán capital.

THE FACTS

Members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the United Cartels, clashed with gunfire on the Uruapan-Lombardía freeway.

The armed clash took place near the community of Arroyo Colorado, where the authorities detained two armed individuals and an armored vehicle.

In that area, personnel from state, municipal and federal forces also found the body of a man shot to death on the old road to Santa Rosa.

The armored vehicle, the two detainees and the dead person are presumably related to the series of clashes recorded.

Another armed group violently seized two cargo trucks, which they set on fire to block the Uruapan-Paracho highway.

One of the damaged vehicles was near the El Mirador subdivision, while the second was set on fire near the deviation to Tiamba.

In the municipal seat, members of a supposed social organization, accused of engaging in extortion, also blocked two of the main avenues.

This, after municipal police officers arrested one of the members of that organization, for violating the municipal Traffic and Highway regulations.

Fuerza Unión Uruapan is being investigated by the authorities for its alleged relationship with organized crime groups, for distracting and hindering operations.
