Father of "El Huevo" Threatened Mexican Officials to Obtain Son's Forged Birth Certificate

The false Mexican birth certificate in question with El Huevo's birthplace being shown as Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Individuals that identified themselves as lawyers and Juan Francisco Trevino Morales, known as "Kiko Ozuna" the father of "El Huevo," went to the first civil registry office in Nuevo Laredo and asked for a birth certificate of the captured leader of the CDN.

However, officials stated that the requested birth registration was canceled on November 13, 2020, by an administrative contract issued by the General Civil Registration Adjustment of the Tamaulipas Government, which was created using false data. The forged birth certificate was filed in Mexico, showing El Huevo's birth as taking place in Mexico, which would have shown he is not a US citizen and could have put a halt to his deportation and delayed any extradition.

El Huevo's US birth certificate from 1982 in Laredo, Texas.

The lawyer and father of “El Huevo” received information that the request could not be made. Both immediately withdrew, but later returned with armed men and threatened to demand the birth certificate from the agency's staff. The employees said that there was no way to comply with the order and actually issue the document. The group of men demanded that they could use force to issue recognition for the existence of the birth certificate. No one has been reported who has suffered significant losses or injuries due to this incident yet.

Finally, the authorities explained in detail that the relevant complaint was submitted to the Attorney General and the Attorney General's Office for consolidation and investigation. It was also announced that the state government did not recognize the issuance of documents generated in these situations of violence against Tamaulipas officials.

Two days after his arrest, El Huevo was deported to the United States via the California border crossing.

El Huevo's Capture and Deportation

As reported by Borderland Beat, Juan Gerardo Trevino Chavez, known as "El Huevo" was captured on March 13, 2022 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. His capture sparked waves of violence in the area resulting in the border crossing closure and travel advisory warnings issued by the US State Department. Between the night of Sunday, March 13 and the early hours of Monday, 14, there were 38 armed attacks and riots in Nuevo Laredo in retaliation for the capture of Juan Gerardo Treviño Chavez, El Huevo, leader of the Northeast Cartel (CDN): twenty against military bases, six against the military housing unit and 13 blocks in different parts of the city. Federal authorities mobilized 738 military personnel and four-armed helicopters to Nuevo Laredo on Tuesday, March 15, following the riots and violent events that occurred.

As it was discovered he was not in Mexico legally and is a United States citizen; he was quickly deported from Mexico into California where he was taken into custody by federal authorities in San Diego. Before being captured, he had three arrest warrants. One is for extradition purposes in the state of Tamaulipas for extortion and criminal associations, the other in the state of Coahuila against intentional murder and terrorism, and the other for extradition purposes against drug trafficking and money laundering.

According to the indictment filed in San Antonio, Trevino is the current leader of the Cartel Del Noreste drug cartel (CDN). CDN is the successor cartel to the Los Zetas drug cartel for which he was a leader, drug trafficker, enforcer, weapons procurer, and plaza leader.

The indictment, unsealed yesterday, charges Trevino with 11 counts, including one count of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Marijuana; one count of Conspiracy to Import Marijuana; one count of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances; one count of Conspiracy to Employ a Person Under 18 in Drug Operations; one count of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine; one count of Conspiracy to Import Cocaine; one count of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine; one count of Conspiracy to Import Methamphetamine; one count of Conspiracy to Possess Firearms in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking; one count of Possession of a Machine Gun in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime; and one count of Money Laundering.
