El Pozolero, Man Who Dissolved More Than 300 People Could Be Released

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

Video translation is as follows:

Female Newscaster: Let's go now to Tijuana where Santiago Meza aka El Pozolero could be released in April of this year. You will remember Santiago Meza dissolved his victims in acid. More than 2,000 bodies between 1984 and 2009. Fernando Ocegueda Flores, founder of the United Association for the Disappeared of Baja California, explained that El Pozolero was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crimes of organized crime, criminal association, and clandestine burials in 2012.

Once his sentence is over, he could be out in no time. El Pozolero worked in at least 10 different areas in Tijuana. However, the association only managed to locate 3 localities where the bodies were disintegrated. In one of them, La Galera, was converted into a prayer center by the relatives of victims.

Fernando Ocegueda Flores: This is very sad news for many families that at the time caused them some anger because of the work he did. But it’s the law and the law must be followed. So, even if we don't like it, he will be released, he will be able to move freely in society once again. Let’s hope that the time he was confined he returned to the path of good.
