Culiacán, Sinaloa: Mayo Zambada Invades The Territory Of Ovidio Guzmán

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

The hitmen of El Mayo arrive and set up a checkpoint north of Culiacán, Sinaloa, the birthplace and home of the children of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán

A video circulating on social networks showed that Ismael "el Mayo" Zambada's hitmen are invading the territory of Ovidio Guzmán, one of the sons of Joaquín "el Chapo" Guzmán. In the recording it can be seen that the Mayo’s’s mob arrives and sets up a checkpoint in Culiacán, the cradle and home of the heirs of El Chapo, which confirms the division that exists in the structure of the Sinaloa Cartel (CDS).

The video recording lasts nine seconds and the narco ballad "Comandante en Jefe" is heard in the background, inspired by El Mayo, which is performed by the Tucanes de Tijuana group: "The trombones can be heard close by, in the style of Zambada", while two armored vehicles park and the gunmen get out of them to set up their checkpoint.

The Drug Enforcement Agency of the United States (DEA) offers a 5 million dollar reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the capture of the Chapitos: Ovidio, Alfredito and Archivaldo. The heirs of Guzmán Loera are accused of conspiracy to traffic cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana in the United States.

It should be remembered that after the capture of Chapo Guzmán in Mexico and his extradition to the United States, where he was sentenced to life imprisonment, Mayo Zambada and the Chapitos were left in command of the Sinaloa Cartel. However, Mexican media report that there is an internal dispute over total control.

  1. I'm not disputing that they are not fighting, but this video shows nothing. It shows unidentified people with an armored truck parked near the sign. You can't even tell if its a checkpoint or if they're just parked there. Anybody could've added the music after too, if it was playing from the car and the men had signs on their vests identifying them as Mayo's, then that would be a different story. This is not " confirms the division that exists in the structure of the Sinaloa Cartel (CDS)." as you claim in the article. This is a bad news story and not sure why it was posted as fact.

  3. If this is real there will be a lot of bloodshed. The 2 major factions(Chapos vs Mayos) of the worlds biggest cartel (CDS) going to war ! This would be even more violent than when Beltran Leyvas went to war with the rest of CDS.
This would spread to every state and city where CDS operates

This would be like the equivalent of Russia invading Ukraine.

  11. From my understanding, when Chapo got caught for the last time, Damaso was supposed to be the ones taking over, not The Chapitos. Chapitos felt like they were the ones who should be taking that spot so they started going at it with him. I might be wrong, but I don't think so.
