Leader of Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, Fernando Emmanuel Juarez Morelos "El Pantera", is Arrested

The arrest marks the second great success of the Guanajuato government, after the arrest of the CSRL founder, José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, El Marro, on August 2, 2020, and who had named El Pantera as his successor.

The Attorney General of the State of Guanajuato once again beheaded the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL). The current leader of the organization, Fernando Emmanuel Juarez Morelos, alias El Pantera, was arrested this Friday, according to the organization. The FGE asserted that at the time of his arrest, the criminal leader was carrying a long weapon and cartridges useful for large-caliber pistols.

“The State Attorney General's Office captured the operational leader of the SRL cartel. The operation headed by @AIC_Guanajuato in coordination with state and federal authorities allowed the capture of the criminal kingpin,” he detailed on Twitter.

Fernando Emmanuel was one of the most wanted drug traffickers in the state of Guanajuato. According to the FGE, this man has multiple arrest warrants for various crimes. Until this Friday, the Panther had managed to evade the Mexican justice by submitting to cosmetic surgeries and grafts to the face and hair; However, the ministerial actions made it possible to establish the location of the criminal leader.

El Pantera would be related to the attack on Criminal Investigation elements in Celaya, on April 21, and that would result in the death of two criminals. The investigation continues its course, while the accused will remain at the disposal of the federal authority for the initial hearing, in which his legal situation will be resolved.

The Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, which for years controlled the theft of fuel and the sale of drugs in the central region of the country, has been greatly weakened since the capture of its founder, José Antonio Yépez, El Marro. Since then the bloody clash between the Armed Forces and the CSRL has been constant. El Marro had a fight with the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) that continued after his capture.

The authorities have pointed to this struggle as the starting point for the violence in Guanajuato, which, according to the organization Causa en Común, has become the bloodiest state in the country. In addition to leading the figures for disappearances.

In 2020, this region (in central Mexico) counted more than 4 thousand murders, which suggests that the apprehension of the leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel barely influenced crime rates.

  3. So, in one year El Merro, then El Azul, now the Panther have been captured?!? Where is this going? Of course we know what little territory that remains will officially fall to CJNG (unless CDS helps out more) or just another random boss, the same as the old boss will slide in...only to eventually implode.

  4. Why does it say El Panther was Marro's successor? I thought Azul came after Marro? I wouldn't want to inherit the CSRL throne. Seems like a pretty short shelf life.

  6. Marro did have heart, but that cost him. Remember the tears and the forgiveness of the young woman. He really was hammer time against CJNG.

Panther, plastic surgery . . again. Our Lord of the Skies, dying on the plastic surgeon's table, our fat friend in Jalisco, probably Mencho and possibly Mayo as well. Lil' Mencho with the nose bandage
