Fresnillo, Zacatecas: Criminals Scatter Caltrops Across A Thoroughfare

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

On the road that leads to the Estación San José community, dozens of caltrops were scattered across the road, at least fifteen vehicles were damaged.

It was shortly before 8:00 a.m. right on the bridge of the Morfín Chávez booth where a group of civilians began to leave these metal objects scattered on the asphalt road.

The damaged vehicles were pulled over on the side of the road so as not to hinder traffic circulation. Their tires were repaired, while some had to be towed away with tow trucks due to them having lost all the tires.

Police elements from various corporations came to provide support for the affected citizens. In addition, they took on the task of removing the rest of the caltrops to avoid further accidents. So far only material damage has been recorded.

    2. Ms. H - This Caltrops or (poncha llantas ) are usually thrown by cartel sicarios after a shootout or some similar event . This slows down their rival or the police in case they are being followed . That morning 8 bodies were dumped that morning one person was still breathing so they confirmed 7 dead . I believe the caltrops were related to this event .
