Drug Seizures in Manzanillo Port Lead to Arrest of 6 CJNG Members in Jalisco

"HEARST" for Borderland Beat

An anonymous tip led to the discovery of a Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) operation being run out of the port of Manzanillo, in the state of Colima. After a search warrant was obtained, two Attorney General's Office (FGR) raids led to the arrest of 6 CJNG members and the seizure of hundreds of kilos of methamphetamine and cocaine.

On May 18, 2021, the FGR sent out a press release detailing a recent investigation of theirs that began with an anonymous tip back in March 22, 2021. The tip gave details about an operation in the Manzanillo port where a criminal organization was likely engaged in drug trafficking and international transfer of illicit substances. When the FGR followed up on the specifics of that tip, they discovered a metal cylindrical container that was going to be exported to China with 190 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride hidden inside.

This discovery expanded the FGR’s investigation and on May 5, 2021 a search warrant was finally granted by a federal judge. FGR’s Specialized Deputy Attorney General's Office for the Investigation of Organized Crime (SEIDO) division in coordination with Federal Ministerial Police executed the search warrant in two locations, with Mexican Army (SEDENA) operatives being used as perimeter security.

In the first location, a property in the Artesane neighborhood of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, they seized 27 cell phones, four laptops and various documents. At the second location, in the Fresno neighborhood of El Salto, Jalisco, six suspected CJNG members were arrested. They also seized approximately 199 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride, 699 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride, 15 cellphones, electronics, cash and various firearms/ammunition.

Capital Mexico reports that the six arrested alleged CJNG members are: Luis Antonio Sierra Castellanos alias "El Tobías", Juan Carlos Barrón Pérez, Rafael Duarte González, Adolfo Reyes Sánchez, José Juan Camacho Florentino and José Trinidad Cornejo Torres.

The FGR obtained an indictment of the six individuals for their probable responsibility in the crimes against health (drug trafficking); as well as for possession of firearms and cartridges for exclusive use of the Armed Forces.

At their initial hearing, a federal judge determined their arrest was legal and sentenced them to stand trial. He also approved a precautionary detention of the men in the Preventive Prison Commissariat in Jalisco, allowing the prosecution time to further investigate and prepare their evidence for use in the upcoming trial.

  1. Wow busted big time, with drugs and weapons, yet they still mask thier faces. Seems criminals have more rights and I am sure after a Curupt judge receives a suitcase full of money, they set free.

    3. 6:48 on the US they make sure prisoners don't talk, if needed, forever, ask jeffrey epstein, they make it worse for the lucky that get chonchon or the unlucky that fork it, no spousal visitation compounds the punishment, forcing some wives to seek El Canelo for emotional support, but the US gets to show some work to keep money, budget and subsidies coming for law enforcement mercenaries.

  9. thats a huge load !:::think the operatives would be safer in jail rather than face the cartel reprecussions of losing such an amount ?...the China connection is interesting, its like an act of war, destabilising the US with stronger cartels !
