The president of Mexico, Andrés
Manuel López Obrador, reiterated that there is a good relationship with the
United States government and also with his counterpart Donald Trump, and
considers that it is a “point of view, that is respected as such.”
Faced with criticism from the
United States that Mexico does not do enough in the fight against drug
trafficking, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that these are opinions
from an annual report, some of which are not shared by Mexico but is respected,
and ruled out a confrontation.
"It is a report that is presented every year by the United States government and has good things, and others that we do not accept, but is a point of view that is respected, it is an opinion basically and we are not going to confront each other regarding opinions, we have a very good relationship with the government of President Donald Trump, we have a very good relationship with the US government and we are not going to fall into any political confrontation.” said the Mexican president.
In the 2020 version of the
Presidential Memorandum to Determine the Major Countries for the Production and
Transit of Illegal Drugs, Trump applauded progress by the López Obrador
government, but asked to do more to protect Mexicans and Americans from the
cartels.

Hardly do they ever shine light on his positive contributions to mexican society. AMLO is very involved in Mexicos political state. His focus is not set on previous administrations, but it does come off that way when the media chooses to highlight that topic. Unfortunately, you're wearing blinders. Do some research. Like Chivis said in another comment, " ...if he succeeds in creating policies and programs, for marginalized Mexicans especially, he will have had a successful presidency and will have done far more than any other modern day president, who were all crooks..." And guess what, he's already achieved that in the 2 years he's been in office.

AMLO made a valid point at a press conference about it, he said the boxes were a nice gesture and all but if they really wanted to make a difference they would stop the violence...

The death toll has been steadily climbing year after year but now everyone is holding AMLO accountable based on his "abrazos no balazos" statement which was taken out of context. Do you keep up with BB? There's clashes between the Guardia Nacional and the cartels on a daily basis. AMLO is responsible for deploying the military but the governors of each state are responsible for requesting that help. I believe it was early this year when AMLO called for a meeting between himself and all of Mexico's governors and less than half showed up. How are they not held to take on some of the blame. AMLO is doing what he can with the little cooperation he is getting. You cant put all the blame on AMLO without pointing fingers at everyone else... ESPECIALLY THE CARTELS.
