"Here I am" says Osario today, "I have nothing to hide"

The former Interior Secretary, Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, is now in the crosshairs of the Ministry of Public Function (SFP) for alleged inconsistencies in properties that he acquired using the company of his wife Laura Ibernia Vargas Carrillo.

According to the newspaper Reforma, the agency is in charge of evaluating the assets of the former official and his family to verify the legality of the properties they own. On the other hand, the resources of their bank accounts are also being investigated.

The way in which this type of activity is conducted is by comparing the income of the officials with the amount paid for the properties, considering their salary as public servants. In the case of Osorio Chong, the media detailed that this analysis is done with his earnings as Governor of Hidalgo.

Both Osorio Chong and his wife have filed Amparo applications with the aim of contesting the conclusions of said investigation, since the SFP has considered some of their activities as "not justified".
According to what the now coordinator of the bench of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) told Reforma, it would be a sale and purchase operation carried out in May 2014, of which his wife would have notified the notary public of Pachuca, Gustavo Teodoro Gómez Monroy.

The place is located in Paseo las Palmas, Lomas de Chapultepec, for which, according to Proceso, a mortgage loan was opened with Banorte.

Before these inquiries, Osorio Chong mentioned that this credit had been canceled and a monthly rent was paid. In addition, it questioned the reasons why the expenses are not considered justified.

The main reasons why the Amparo lawsuits began was because the SFP would have involved the Priista's family in the investigation. "The authority itself has the answers," he told the media and assured that if the information reported is collated with his fiscal and bank details, it can be verified that everything is in place.

The properties reported by the PRI are two lands acquired in 2007: the first for a million 120 thousand and the other for 53 thousand 272 pesos, in addition to a box that he bought for 30 thousand pesos in 2001.

On the other hand, he indicated an individualized account with an amount of 2 million 993 thousand pesos and a bank account with 4 million 903 thousand 424 pesos.

His wife filed an Amparo under the allegations of violation of various constitutional articles, including the principle of the presumption of innocence, as well as the rules for sanctioning public servants.

This occurs after Osorio Chong's recovery from the COVID-19 disease, which he tested positive on April 30.

Through his Twitter account he disclosed the information and without giving more details added that "having the medical recommendations, I will be protected at home."

In the brief message, the also former governor of Hidalgo reports that the test was carried out and came out positive. He did not clarify how, when or where he contracted the coronavirus.

Miguel Angel Osorio is the first senator of the Republic who tests positive to Covid-19. Other politicians who suffer or suffered from coronaviruses are Irma Eréndira Sandoval, Secretary of the Public Function, and the governors of Querétaro, Francisco Servién, de Hidalgo, Omar Fayad, and Tabasco, Adán Augusto López, but they have already been discharged.

  1. I believe everyone knew Chong was dirty but he was batting sides to help the US to deflect opposition and point blame elsewhere. The US feds already knew and passed info down the line until he was tipped off. Which meant their was a leak higher then him. Running scared always thought he was untouchable.

  3. For all the criticism he receives, is it fair to say AMLO has been excellent when it comes punishing corruption? He never gets proper credit for the good things he’s done and is expected to fix problems that go back decades in only 2 years.

    4. @4:08 you're clueless and uninformed if you call it a joke. Just because he didn't officially declare war on the cartels like the two past administrations doesn't mean he isn't combating the violence. 2 years into his presidency and he's doing a lot for the country in all other aspects. Take your blinders off and look at everything else instead of just focusing on cartel news.

  5. Osorio Chong is very famous in the State of Hidalgo, he was a university porro when the former and first prison director of Almoloya who tormented Rafael caro quintero got assassinated un the university cafeteria, also was partner of Argentinian Carlos Ahumada Kurtz in the aerolíneas ejecutivas de Pachuca, surely moving something other than "executives"

  6. I seen that asshat, come through the backway, security detail in tow, to his motor yacht, in the new private yacht harbor in Puerto Marquez, Acapulco. . They should look for his hidden properties there in Cabo Marquez. Afterall it is $50,000 U.S. just to join the marina, no overnight berthing for non members. I bet he was part of the group that stole Punta Diamante from the locals....What a fucking douchebag.
