Nor-Cal Cartel Connection: Major Heroin/ Arsenal/ Cash Bust

Yaqui for Borderland Beat from: HCSO
Suspect arrested for the third time this year found with over $100,000 in cash and plenty more, says the Humboldt County California Sheriff's Office:

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Drug Task Force. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On June 16th, 2020, at approximately 2:20 p.m., special agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF), with the assistance of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), served a search warrant at a motel located in the 200 block of 5th Street, Eureka. During their multi-week investigation, HCDTF agents received information that Casey O’Leary Menanno (age 36) was trafficking narcotics throughout Humboldt County.

Menanno is also the suspect in multiple residential and commercial burglaries and agents had reason to believe he was in possession of stolen property. HCDTF agents are very familiar with Menanno as they have arrested him three times this year, including a case where he was arrested at the Bear River Casino in January.

Menanno has been released from custody on all of these cases and currently has thirteen (13) pending cases from local law enforcement agencies where he is the suspect in weapons, narcotics, and theft related offenses.

Upon contact, agents detained Menanno without incident. Agents searched Menanno’s motel room and located approximately two pounds of suspected heroin packaged for sales, one ounce of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, over $100,000 U.S currency, and other drug paraphernalia commonly associated with narcotics trafficking. Menanno’s motel room was completely packed with suspected stolen property, including a stolen handgun reported to HCSO on 5/28/2020.

Menanno was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charges: H&S 11351/11378 (possession of narcotics for sales), H&S 11370.1 (possession of narcotics while armed), PC 459/461 (burglary), PC 496 (possession of stolen property), PC 29800 (felon in possession of a firearm), and PC 12022.1 (committing felony while on bail). Agents were granted a bail enhancement pursuant to PC 1275 which makes Menanno ineligible for bail at this time.
Guns in photo from left to right:
Savage 110, Savage 99 E model, Marlin 60 C .22 L.R., H&R “Topper” shotty, Rem 700 ADL, Mauser (maybe Sears model 52, (not sure), M1 carbine, Moisin 7.62x54R, Glenfield .22 LR, Spanish Mauser (sporterized), Rem 660, and the wheelgun is a Ruger GP100….
Agents continued their investigation and served a search warrant on a storage unit in the Humboldt Hill area. This unit was rented to Menanno and agents had probable cause to believe additional stolen property was likely inside. During their search, agents located eleven additional firearms (four of which have been confirmed stolen), a variety of suspected stolen property, and a significant amount of U.S. currency. All U.S. currency seized during this investigation is suspected profits from illegal narcotics trafficking and will be held pending asset forfeiture proceedings.

Attached are photographs of the suspected stolen property. If you are a theft victim and want to claim your property, contact the Humboldt County Drug Task Force at 707-267-9976, and arrangements can be made for the return of your property, pending the approval of a Humboldt County Superior Court magistrate.

In Another Case from a Eureka California Police Dept Press Release / cieureka

This is a press release from the Eureka Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On June 18, 2020, at about 7:20 a.m., detectives with the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) served a search warrant on the 1800 block of Allard Avenue in response to complaints of drug activity. A Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office Narcotic K9 assisted in the warrant service.

Patricia Joyce Waxler (63 of Eureka) and Carl Steven Keeler (46 of Eureka) were contacted in their trailer and detained without incident. Inside the trailer, detectives located 146 grams of methamphetamine and scales and materials indicating drug sales. Waxler was in possession of over $1,300 in currency.

Waxler was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for possession of controlled substances for sales, possession of paraphernalia, and probation violation. Keeler was cited for possession of a controlled substance.

Anyone with information concerning suspected drug activity or ongoing nuisances occurring in the City of Eureka, is encouraged to call the Problem Oriented Policing Unit at (707) 441-4373.\

    2. 11:18 looks like made up charges to have an excuse for warrants and to get into his rooms, without warrants all the charges go out the window and they have to return his stash, weapons, and money, and release his ass.
It is like when a cop stops you, turns off his camera and breaks your tail light to justify stomping you, Rodney...

    1. First off, you don't know meth users, they will bring a dealer anything of value.

Second those are ivory horns, quite valuable.

    2. To me it looks like elephant ivory and a curved ceremonial blade, perhaps Yemeni in origin. Not exactly cheap to my admittedly untutored eye.

  5. That 100k probably is what he was going to pay his suppliers back and reup. His cut is most likely 5 maybe 10 grand out of that 100k

    1. Still, with $5k or $10k in pocket, you'd think he would stop doing burglaries. I guess old habits die hard. He will have a long time to think about it.

    2. No way he’s making more than that, if you are dealing w amounts like that he’s probably paying 10-15 a gram and reselling it for $50-100 per gram.

All that stolen stuff is most likely stolen by his buyers/associates and traded for dope.
