"Narco Polo": the betrayal of "El Chino Antrax" of the Sinaloa Cartel

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat   TY GUS  La Silla Rota

In early 2012, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) launched an operation against drug dealers and money laundering from the Sinaloa Cartel in San Diego, California called " Marco Polo."

American authorities began with the interception of phone calls. For almost two years, the "Narco Polo" operation did not give great results until the end of 2013, when two great blows came to the Sinaloa Cartel. First, on November 20, 2013, Serafín Zambada Ortiz, son of Ismael Zambada García, "El Mayo", was arrested in Arizona.

A month and ten days later, on December 30, 2013, José Rodrigo Aréchiga Gamboa, "El Chino Antrax ", was detained in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, before being extradited to the United States.

Both Serafin and José Rodrigo pleaded guilty and decided to collaborate with US authorities.

Then, the "Narco Polo" operation began to pay off in 2014.

October of that year, the dismantling of two gangs dedicated to drug distribution by the Sinaloa Cartel in California was reported: " Lost Nitrous " and " Los Ortiz ". Both criminal cells were linked to Zambada.

A month later, in November 2014, in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Ismael Zambada Imperial, " El Mayito Gordo " another son of " El Mayo ", was arrested for having a complaint against him for extradition purposes.

The logical thing is that Serafín was the informant to facilitate both blows, the truth is that the sons of " El Mayo ", who have become collaborators with the US authorities, have avoided talking about their father's operations.

However, against other wings of the cartel such as Joaquín Guzmán Loera, "El Chapo" Serafin and his half-brother, Vicente Zambada Niebla, "El Vicentillo", have done so.

Is expected that another Zambada, "El Mayito Gordo", will do the same. He was recently extradited to the United States. "Chino Antrax" was behind these two blows to the Sinaloa Cartel, particularly the Zambadas, the very family he befriended and served.

In early 2015, the Department of Justice of the United States unveiled the list of those accused in the DEA operation "Narco Polo".

This list added to 100 members of the Sinaloa Cartel, among which " El Mayo " Zambada and his sons stand out: "El Mayito Gordo", Serafín himself and "El Mayito Flaco".

Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, "El Chapito", eldest son of "El Chapo , also appeared on the list, like Eliseo Imperial Castro , "El Cheyo Antrax", partner of "El Chino Antrax" and nephew of " El Mayo " Zambada , considered the last of "The Antrax".

Although they do not appear onthe 2015 list, other drug lords were adding to the objective of the "Narco Polo" operation, such as Dámaso López Núñez , "El Licenciado"; his son Dámaso López Serrano , "El Mini Lic"; and his brother Álvaro López Núñez.

As a consequence of his help to the US authorities, "El Chino Anthrax" received a sentence of seven years and three months in prison, he would be free in March 2021, however, he fled from supervised release and returned to Mexico.

"El Chino Antrax" returned to Culiacán, Sinaloa, where he was brutally murdered along with his sister and brother-in-law.

Among the suspicions of the perpetrator of the crime are the Zambadas, due to all the information he gave about them to the US authorities.

Or they simply removed the protection he thought he still had. Be that as it may, the murder of  José Rodrigo Aréchiga Gamboa would not have happened if "El Mayo" hadn’t wanted it .

  1. It amazes me how many of these guys snitch and give up people, places, and intel. Chino may be the dumbest animal that ever lived!! How he could EVER think it safe to return to his neighborhood is beyond retarded!! Even if he was offered asylum how could he fall right into the trap!! I watch YouTube videos on a site called Truth Witness. He posts clip after clip of captured cartel members being interrogated and snitching. Higher ups too. Ranking guys such as El Campayito, La Barbie, El Hongo and on and on the list grows. When it comes to others lives they couldn't care less (yes I know thats an occupational trait) yet when it's their lives they sing like little canaries. Id bet dollars to doughnuts that El Menchos son and daughter will join the ever lengthening string of rats!!

    5. It's kind of hard not to snitch when your getting waterboarded or when your direct family is in danger... 95 percent of people from the u.s snitch and all they do is offer you shit and try to scare you like "your gonna do 15 straight 23 hours a day in a cell with bo bo!!!!" And boom.. he's snitching..

    6. @10:26 You won't snitch? The Feds don't play. A 40-year stretch in US federal prison is a huge chunk of your life. No more soft perfumed women. No more children's laughter at Christmas. Probably in a two-man cell smelling another man's flatulence and listening to his snores. For 40 facking years. And the people you rat out would likely do the same thing for you were the tables turned.
It amuses me that amoral criminals insist their cronies adhere to standards of ethics and morality.

    7. Well i feel its pretty obvious chino didnt go back to mexico thinking things would be okay. They had to have kidnapped his family members and said if you want to see them alive and not dismembered around town, come for a meeting and you will save your family. Thats the only way i could see chino going back. He probably was hoping theyd let his sister live and just kill him lol

    8. He went back and insisted on talking to El Mayo. No one would lead him to El Mayo. He went to the Russians and tried to get them to take him to El Mayo. The Russian scanned him and found a location device. They realized that that time he was trying to lead the United States government to El Mayo. He was beaten then shot and killed

  11. "Also he didn't come back to Mexico. At least on his own will he didn't. He was actually kidnapped from the San Diego house we're he was on house arrest.and taken to TJ where they were trying to extort his ass for 6 million in cash, he was trying to get together through his sister but she made the mistake of calling a dude that was holding some of chinos fortune, she didn't realize that dude had flipped and started working for chapos sons crew so when they told her to have chino and the TJ crew to come to culiacan for the money they were greeted by a gun fight which left chino, his sister and bro-in-law in the hands of chapos son and we all know what came of that, the next day all 3 bodies were found in her BMW."
