Tijuana activist lawyer murdered in Jalisco

Chivis Martinez  Borderland Beat  Punto Norte

The Tijuana lawyer Sindy García, known for her social activism and for her participation in various campaigns of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), was murdered in Jalisco.

Sindy grew up in Tijuana and graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) where she also held some positions in government institutions such as the Tijuana City Council and the Office of the Human Rights Ombudsman, and today the State Commission of Baja California Human Rights.

For a few years she moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco, where she litigated as a criminal lawyer.

Her death was reported on Thursday, April 16, when she was found on a street in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, bound by the hands, blindfolded, and injured by a firearm projectile.

Sindy is remembered by her friends as an enthusiastic, dynamic, optimistic, purposeful and joyful woman.

"She was that type of woman who saw a solution to everything," shared one of his friends.

Among the social work he carried out in Tijuana, he collaborated with the Gaia Foundation, both in caring for street people and with migrant communities and children in orphanage homes.

  4. People who post or use social media to brag, show off, or for attention are more likely than those who don’t to get into trouble or have problems. I’m not saying you shouldn’t use social media but most people who do so in the ways I mentioned above are immature or are going through midlife crisis. Very few use social media responsibly and actually think 🤔 before they post.

  6. Sindy was the kind of accomplished person that Mexico desperately needs. And what happened to her? Murdered by evil people...the kinds Mexican vermin this beleaguered nation does not need.
Like I have posted before on such occasions "Mexico is both homicidal and suicidal" .... I am angry and depressed. I wonder what her loved ones are going through?
    God bless her soul.

    1. 12:43 if you were not so stupid, you would see that you can't blame all of "Mexico" for the sins of a few or for the murder of a beautiful woman acting as a call girl going to interviews to cities she does not know and with people she knows even less.

  9. She was so naive to think that it would be safe to be in a snakes' lair. Everyone knows cartels run Mexico. AMLO is just a clown.

    1. "Naive?" You don't know courage when you see it. The young lady was doing God's work in a nation swimming in violence. She had the education and guts to put her life on the line for good causes.
Read some history from under your bed, to see how the world has benefitted from people putting their lives at grave risk for others.

The coronavirus outbreak in Mexico’s steel capital started at the very place that was supposed to help stop it.

Social Security Hospital No. 7, a towering 240-bed facility, is the main public medical center in the northern city of Monclova. But when a 42-year-old truck driver arrived with pneumonia-like symptoms last month, the hospital didn’t isolate him. Within two weeks, he was dead of covid-19.

Soon, a doctor and an administrator had also perished. Ultimately, 41 employees of the hospital wound up testing positive for the virus.

It was the first in a series of outbreaks at hospitals that have rattled Mexicans and raised questions about the Social Security Institute, the country’s biggest public health network. Nurses and doctors have held protests around the country. The governor of Baja California, Jaime Bonilla, lashed out at federal authorities for the lack of protective gear in his border state, saying doctors were “dropping like flies.”

    3. Mexico will have herd immunity and be better off the second go round while americans are struggling to pay the bills and keep businesses from closing. 20+trillion in debt just wait till taxes go up. All this for less then .5% death rate

Hospitals in Mexico City are nearing saturation point after they received 100 more Covid-19 patients requiring intubation in just two days, newspaper El Norte reported, citing Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum.

Of the city’s 16 municipalities, the most affected is Iztapalapa. The General Hospital there is at capacity and is turning away patients, Sheinbaum said. As more people are redirected to the two other hospitals in the same neighborhood, they’re also now full. The city, which is home to 8.8 million people, had 2,299 cases as of yesterday and 178 deaths. The country reported 650 deaths and 7,497 confirmed cases.
