High-Ranking Tijuana Cartel Member Captured in Mexico City After Arriving From Europe

"Morogris" for Borderland Beat
Ricardo Bozada Alvarado ("El Bozadas")
Last week, high-ranking Tijuana Cartel member and ex-policeman Ricardo Bozada Alvarado ("El Bozadas") was arrested at the Mexico City International Airport after arriving from the Netherlands. The details of his trip abroad were not made public. The arrest was conducted in coordination with the Interpol, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the SEIDO, Mexico's anti-organized crime investigatory agency. His arrest was officially confirmed by the Tijuana-based and award-winning magazine Zeta this morning.

El Bozadas is identified by law enforcement as a chief operator under Pablo Edwin Huerta Nuño ("El Flaquito") and his relative José Luis Escudero Escandón ("El Quieto"), captured in January 2020, as reported by Borderland Beat. El Bozadas is wanted for aggravated kidnapping and organized crime involvement. He is mentioned in the same criminal case against El Quieto.

Background
El Bozadas is a former member of the Federal Highway Police (Spanish: Policia Federal de Caminos). In 2019, authorities stated he was involved in a turf war for control of the Ensenada with a Sinaloa Cartel faction. Among his rivals were Víctor Manuel Padilla Murillo ("El Chatarras"), a trafficker under Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, and Juan Carlos Araiza ("El Marino"), who works under the Arzate García clan.

In August 2019, El Bozadas was mentioned in a banner abandoned by gangsters at Hotel Lucerna in Ensenada. In the message, El Bozadas and other state police officers were accused of kidnapping and stealing from civilians. A body of a slaughtered pig was abandoned next to the banner. El Bozadas was accused of working for "El Flaquito". These details were reported by Borderland Beat after El Chatarras was arrested that year.

In addition, El Bozadas was also identified by Mexican authorities as being responsible for two shipments of cocaine totaling 250 kilograms that were seized by security forces in Ensenada on 10 and 11 March 2020. Both shipments were transported in a boat from Manzanillo, Colima. As reported by Borderland Beat, Ensenada is one of the major seizure spots in Mexico since December 2018.

When El Bozadas was arrested at the Mexico City International Airport on 11 March, rumors surfaced that he may have been accompanied by bodyguards who work for Ensenada city official Marco Antonio López Valdez ("El Japonés"). El Bozadas's right-hand man was reportedly Luis Ángel Beltrán Ayala, a federal police officer based in Tijuana. El Bozadas will be sent to the Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 14, a maximum-security prison in Durango.

    1. 12:48pm Not exactly bro. Bozadas answer to quieto directly. It’s bozadas flako had to answer to on quietos request. Flako feels some type of way. Special I guess since he’s family with quieto. But at the end of the day that’s a mess within their “car”. Not the Cartel. They better fix their differences otherwise they’re going to crash their car and bring down whatever quieto had inherited and accomplished after ingeniero left. MX good article carnal. Saludos desde TJ.

    2. That's true in any industry nowadays. But in organized crime one would think that seniority is really important as that was traditionally the original hierarchy (with "padrinos" and old capos being the ones who called the shots). Times have changed.

    4. What are these hijos de sus pinches madres doing in the Netherlands?
Policia Federal de Cominos, Highway police behave like highway robbers, associated to policia judicial federal, state police, governors and all the top government delegates, and then people wonder why crime enjoys all that impunity...
The Netherlands are famously greedy for money and do not give a fack where it comes from, all the way back to the days of inventing slavery, still doing their crap sending mexican drug lords to prison to steal their meager pittance and robbing blood diamond miners in Africa.
Nobody from the Netherlands has been accused for their money laundering, why?

  3. Good
He probably came back with the corona virus and will spread to other criminals in jail. Thanks to the inept government there will be nothing holding back the wrath of the virus in the jail system. Once again Mother Nature rooting out the evil in the world. Hope it includes the racist government.

  4. I read this, interesting to see that there are still somewhat substantial operators under CAF still

And they are fighting for the Ensenada port for about a year

I think they hung banners against him Ensenada last year

    1. Yep, you're absolutely right about the banners.

Ensenada is really hot right now with the murders of CAF member Jael José Morales Leonel ("El 30") and Juan Francisco Chávez Ibarra earlier this month.

    1. So true. Most of the CAF updates only make it to local media. The CAF isn't making national headlines (with the exception of El Quieto's arrest). My gut feeling is that they are the ones with the old/deep political ties in Baja California and have never really been gone as some thought.

      Thanks for reading.

  7. Ensenada is real hot right now, about 100 employees from the port of Ensenada quit their job after the execution of a few of them, the fight is for the Cocaine route, people from El Flako have also been stealing shipments from Sinaloans with the help of state police, it looks as if State police is with CAF and Municipal police is under CDS payroll.

    1. Thank you for sharing this info. Juan Francisco Chávez Ibarra, who worked for the Ensenada municipal police, was killed a few days ago. He was CDS so you're absolutely right.

Where can I read more about what's bowling down in Ensenada?
