Explosion of violence from the Mexicles VS Gente Nueva war, in the Valley of Juárez

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat republished from El Paso News

Last weekMexicles, issued a news release to Juárez news outlets,  warning the leaders of the rival Gente Nueva to leave the valley.

A war among drug-trafficking groups has intensified in the Valley of Juárez, with dismembered bodies left in ice coolers, shootings and schools temporarily closed.

The fighting in the valley is for control of border drug-smuggling routes in the Mexican farming communities along the Rio Grande east of Juárez.

The violence comes as homicides have topped 700 in Juárez this year, including the death of a 6-year-old girl hit by a stray bullet at a kindergarten this week.

A war in the valley between the Mexicles gang and the Gente Nueva drug-trafficking group is part of a fragmentation of criminal alliances that authorities said has fueled much of the violence in recent years in Juárez.

In an unusual move, the Mexicles last week issued a news release to Juárez news outlets warning the leaders of the rival Gente Nueva to leave the valley.

"It's better (for rivals to leave) and a warning is given to all these people to abandon the Valley of Juárez, if they don't, the lead and bloodshed will continue," the Mexicles stated.

Recent incidents in the valley included:

Shootings that killed three men, including a maquiladora bus driver, on June 11 in the villages of Tres Jacales and Juárez y Reforma in a region across the Rio Grande from the Fabens area.

Dismembered body parts were found in ice chests and thrown on the ground on the morning of June 13 along the Juárez-Porvernir highway.

Schools in the valley were closed and public bus routes stopped running at 7 p.m. last week due to fears of violence, according to the Diario de Juárez newspaper.

Law enforcement seized an arsenal, including two rifles, two handguns, a grenade and eight Molotov cocktails, after a vehicle chase in San Isidro. The gunmen abandoned a pair of vehicles and escaped.

Drug cartel propaganda

It is not uncommon for Mexican drug cartels to engage in public threats and propaganda, such as videos, banners [mantas or cartulinas] hung from bridges and signs left at murder scenes.

Mexican authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the Mexicles news release, which was published by some Juárez news outlets, but have said the violence in the valley is linked to drug groups.

The Mexicles stated in Spanish that they issued the message so the "citizenry of Juárez and the Valley of Juárez are not be alarmed by what is happening and what is about to happen."

The statement featured an image of a skull in a charro hat in front of two crossed rifles above "F.E.M.," meaning "fuerzas especiales Mexicles," or Mexicles special forces.

The group stated that the fight is over drug trafficking and for what it calls "good control," claiming it won't kidnap, extort or intimidate innocent people.

The statement is signed by "El 40 of the Mexicles special forces."

People shouldn't fall for it, an expert says.

“It’s propaganda. They want to get the support of the community, that they are not bad guys," said Robert Almonte, who teaches law enforcement seminars on Mexican drug cartels.

Almonte is a former U.S. marshal and a retired deputy chief with the El Paso Police Department who began researching cartels while working narcotics in the 1980s.

New drug trafficking groups sometimes openly claim they will be protective of the public and even do good deeds, Almonte said.

"A lot of the other cartels say the same thing; they end up becoming more of what they said they were against," he added.

Who are the Mexicles?

The Mexicles is a prison-street gang that was allied with the Gente Nueva branch of the Sinaloa drug cartel during the war with the Juárez cartel a decade ago.

The gang was formed by Mexicans in the Texas prison system who banded together to protect themselves in the late 1980s or early 1990s, said Mike Tapia, a New Mexico State University associate professor of criminal justice who studies gangs.

"They were born in the Texas prison system as a group of Mexicanos that were deported back to Mexico when they did their time. They expanded out into the street, of course," Tapia said.

"Mexicle" can be a term describing a person from Mexico and is used by other gangs, including the Partido Revolucionario Mexicano, or PRM, according to a 2007 Texas Department of Public Safety report on Texas gangs.

The Mexicles gang in Juárez has been known to use tattoos of the "Hecho en Mexico" eagle logo, but not everyone with such a tattoo is a gang member.

For years, the Mexicles were allied with the Sinaloa cartel, but by the start of this year the Mexicles had allied with La Linea crime organization of the Juárez cartel.

In January, La Linea and the Mexicles were accused by authorities of carrying out a series of coordinated attacks on Juárez police.

The Mexicles were rivals of the Barrio Azteca gang, which was allied with La Linea.

The shifting in alliances is believed to be part of the fighting  for control of drug markets, including crystal methamphetamine sales, in Juárez, officials have said.

There have been nearly 90 homicides so far in June in Juárez, and 151 [ 5 a day] in all of May.
Through Facebook they call themselves 'Special Forces Mexicles' (FEM)and say they
will continue to 'clean' the city of extortionists and kidnappers
More:

They call themselves Special Forces Mexicles (FEM) and say they will continue to 'clean' the city of extortionists and kidnappers.

The self-styled "Cartel de los Mexicles", the gang that historically has been the rival of the gang 'Los Aztecas' both inside the prisons of the state, has now become a burgeoning cartel led by  'El 40', who has declared a bloody war against the "Gente Nueva" which historically have belonged to the Sinaloa Cartel.

The gang of "Los Mexicles" was the execution arm of the Sinaloa Cartel, until  the death of Gabino Salas Valenciano, who was the leader in the Valle region, there was a rupture of Los Mexicles with the criminal group.

The new group is backed by the 'Fuerzas Especiales Mexicles', or 'Special Forces Mexicles', the armed executing arm that has generated a high level of violence in recent months on the border.

Data from the Municipal Public Security Secretariat (SSPM) links Mexicles to “La Empresa”; however, it has been confirmed that members of that gang act independently and have generated violence in the Juarez Valley.

SSPM recognize the growth of Los Mexicles in the region, who have managed to control most of the city, with its initial growth being the eastern part of the city.

  1. Too much propaganda for one gang. I, mean if this article is about a group splitting with a former ally and threatening a war with them fine but to basically define the whole organization is simply unnecesary publicity for them.
One fact this article does fail to report also is how big these gangs are. Aztecas at their peak had over 5000 soldiers in Juarez alone. Mexicles no less than 3000 and another gang the Artist Assasin gang had no less than 600. All these people/killers armed to the teath and more willing to join the ranks in any gang as soon as they can. This is not including members of the very cartels which they ally to.
Today it is less clear how many people are withing each group as alliences have shifted and of course members of all these get killed on a daily basis but this is what causes all the bloodshed in Juarez and the reason why if the article is true about Mexicles allying themselves with Linea now CDS has not been able to take full control of Chihuahua although they have a significant precense in the southern part of the state.
It is just one example of the dynamics of this cartel war in Chihuahua at least the only state the third largest cartel in Mexico - Juarez is willing to fight to the death in and keep. DEA and CIA seem to want to destroy this cartel more than Sinaloa however and this is adding to the bloodbath in the city of Juarez for at least the Mexican police as mentioned in a previous article here on BB is willing to capture CDS members FYI!

  4. How many times is Gente Nueva going to try to take over Juarez? Or has the first war that started with Chapo never really ended?

    1. The war never ended. CDS lost a conciderable amount of influence in Juarez city proper but managed to stay around the outskirts of the city. Linea is determined to kick them out of there and has ammassed more people to do this. CDS however has many supporters in the southern part of Chihuahua state and this is adding to the death count.
In short CDS owns almost all the area around southern Chihuahua except perhaps the capital city proper while Juarez most of the two main cities in Chihuahua and most of the northern part of the state.

    14. 6:47. Sinaloa controls only the outskirts of Juarez although some members live like roaches hiding within the limits of it.
People only say Sinaloa owns the city because you cannot talk anything about them openly due to the fact that these roaches are there with ears to KILL any naysayers to their cause.
Just like in Sinaloa if you open your mouth against the narco trade they will supress anyone against this by any means neccesary period.
Yet CDS claims to be all about peace???

  6. I wonder if Meth sales in Mexico are now higher than Meth sales in the US. Are these Cartels making more money selling Meth on their home turf rather than crossing the border and selling it in the US? What do my fellow readers think?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Meth sells in Mexico just to help defray costs, no big business, smart pushas know they gotta go North and to the west while ship loads go through the gulf, pirated oils and cocaine still sell, u like solar panels.

      Delete
    2. All product crossing over any border are more profitable. Meth usage might be the same as for consumption numbers.
Difficult to tell when Mexico doesn't have a true estimates to their man made epidemic.

  7. This is sad because it’s only going to get worse. Although, I don’t see GN winning the war against Linea and Mexicles combined. Sad part is once GN is pushed out, Linea and Mexicles might start fighting each other again.

    2. Letting the cartels and all their little sub groups fight and destroy each other...may be the best solution to end the violence. Why should the Mexican government or any other government/military waste resources on these groups, that are essentially worthless and useless humans. Let them fight it out, kill each other and in time, the numbers of whichever group is left over will be so small that they can’t fight against the military.

If only your logic had truth to this outcome. These rehearsals are coordinated by government officials and its agencies for control. Each fighting for control of the business

  8. 12:07 The population of Mexico is 129 million. The population of the US is 332 million and as soon as those drugs cross the border they at the least double in value so you do the math...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The price may double but you also have more risk crossing the border. Then you have to set up cells in the US to move it. Sometimes you gotta trust US gangs to do the sales and that creates more problems as well. The domestic market for Meth in Mexico is a lot more profitable than you think.

      Delete
    2. Profitable for the Mexican wages given for many of it citizens. Rather, appropriate manufacturing and distributing a cheaper drug that can be purchased by almost all.
I like to think of these cartels as WALMART marketing methods used to corner a market among those less financially fortunate people.

A genius move for the cartels if u ask oneself. That's if you have no moral code for money.
