“El Marro” of "Los Lagartos" Sentenced to 70 Years for Kidnapping

Toluca, Mexico, June 25, 2019: The Judicial Authority based in Almoloya de Juárez issued a conviction of 70 years in prison against Rosendo Enríquez Tapia, alias "El Marro", after the Agent of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Specialized Prosecutor of Kidnapping of Valle de Toluca, accredited his participation in the crime of kidnapping of a man in the year of 2014.

After reviewing the evidence collected and contributed by this Social Representation, a judge issued this sentence for Enríquez Tapia, who was considered one of the most sought after by state authorities since 2014.



In addition, the judge set a fine of one thousand days of minimum wage, and another one thousand days of minimum wage for moral damage, as well as the payment of 23,800 pesos as compensation for the damage.

According to the investigations initiated by the then Attorney General's Office, on October 2, 2014, this subject participated in the illegal deprivation of freedom of a merchant, in the Nueva Oxtotitlán neighborhood of the municipality of Toluca.

This individual communicated with the relatives of the victim, to whom he let them know that he had her kidnapped and for his release demanded a payment. Days later this person was released in the community of Santiaguito, municipality of Almoloya de Juárez.

Derived from these facts, the respective investigation folder was started and with the data collected by Investigative Police, the Public Ministry Agent requested a Judge to issue an arrest warrant against this subject, which was granted and completed.

The detainee, who was considered one of the most sought after by the authorities of the State of Mexico, because he was offered a reward of 50 thousand pesos for his capture, was admitted to the Penitentiary and Social Rehabilitation Center of Almoloya de Juárez, where a judge after legal process, imposed this sentence.

It should be noted that Rosendo Enríquez Tapia, was leader of a criminal gang calling itself "Los Lagartos", whose area of ​​operation were the municipalities of Almoloya de Juárez, Villa Victoria, Toluca and Zinacantepec.
