El Chapo Case: Judge denies Chapo's request for better conditions

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat

Judge Cogan who has presided over the case against El Chapo, denied the request by Chapo for better prison conditions, such as access to commissary, outdoor rec time and ear plugs.

He has been ordered to be incarcerated under the strict and controversial SAMS security measures, created a month after 911 to be imposed on terrorist suspects.

Cogan cited Chapo’s prison breaks in Mexico.  In Mexico is not unlawful to escape or attempt to escape providing no one is harmed in the process.

Cogan’s written order states that it was “plausible” that Guzman could attempt to escape again.

Cogan agreed with prosecutors and wrote that the prison conditions are “not designed to punish defendant, nor excessive or arbitrary.”

As for the commissary—judge says  “many items” sold can be “weaponized.”

Also denied is Chapo’s request for earplugs, as they could prevent Chapo, as they could prevent him from hearing guards during an emergency.

Chapo will be sentenced on June 25 and is expected to receive natural life.

An offer even Bladdermir Putin would not refuse.
The WALL will never see the light of the day, even if it gets paid for, that money has been stolen, ther was not even $400 000.00 left to pay El Paso for the debts incurred by the 2020 campaign by El Con Don PAC, "they think EL PASO should pay for the visit", not even paquita la del Barrio would get paid much less "pig ass face"

  7. Poor guy he misses the wonderful conditions of the Mexican prison ..TV, parties, women. Unfortunately I he is in an American prison, no special benefits. Did the crime now it's time pay the time Same goes for when Mencho gets caught.

  8. The Judge did approve the request to see his mom right?

  9. Chapo had his fun and fame, it's time to pay the Piper, in a 8x12 cell. You don't have to think about getting people killed, or running the drug business. Just relax and enjoy the cell.

    1. It's definitely not the same as Mexico. The US prison system doesn't care if you are rich. Chapo is different though I think. I still think they are worried about names and Intel he could drop, more than escaping. If he makes it to appeal (alive), he may start talking to try and get better treatment. If his family could get out of Mexico, he may then take down all those who betrayed him, by talking....either way he's never getting out, and no way he can escape. If the gov was smart, they'd put him in GP. He'd be dead in a week. Some lifer who has no ties to the drug game would take him out, just to be in the news and history books. Exactly what happen to Dahmer, and others.

    1. Problem is that worse people are in charge of crime now, military and militarized police taking it over on two fronts, the legal and the criminal, to get away with murder for 6 more years.
Getting retired and rethreaded military into the Guarida Nacional may do wonders for the cover up, but there will be more witnesses to kill now.

    3. One hundred thousand National Guard Sicarios extorting you and your fellow countrymen do not compare to one drug trafficking US Delegate like El Chapo. Since his arrest crime got worse than under FECAL with EPN, Mando Unico and Co. and may not get better under AMLO BECAUSE OF GUARIDA NACIONAL. That IS relevant. When El Chapo was there there as almost no crime, and he used no government money to keep order.

It may be on the eye of the beholder. --like chanting on the front of the chorus LOCK HER UP! used to be so much nice clean fun, in spite of having no reason to do that.
--But now that there is reason to lock some people up, they find the chants of "LOCK HIM UP!" impossible to digest...

  19. Well if mehico wasn't so corrupt. Legal for only cartels to have guns. But citizens can't have firearms. When they're trying to protect their homes. From all the blatantly vile crap. Mexico is so notorious for. Their president is still taking bribes. And he's still hunting poor citizens. All because they have guns for self defense. Look at what he did for chapos ma. Who's side do you really think he's on? Everyone has a gun in Merica. Mexicans Asians Negros Caucasians. In Mexico you can't own a weapon. Even though their poor population. Need shotguns to protect their homes the most. What do those poor beaners have anyway? Archaic Mosins 20 gauge shotguns. Autodefenas need their weapons. They're no different than the oath keepers. Or a freakin open carry protest. Which I've been apart of numerous times. Yet the big bad marina come to them. With their 50 cal ma dueces. Come at them and not the real threat. Corrupt politicians like Amlo. Duarte piena nieto and what not. Who give their cartel the advantage.

    1. I am adamantly against the inhumane, solitary confinement, for anyone--unless the inmate has demonstrated a clear danger to himself or others in a prison environment.

Other than escapes, Chapo has been a model prisoner. The U.S. judge even said as much and referred to him as a gentleman while in prison and trial.

While I think he should be held with some restrictions---that make sense--i think those presented are over the top and insane.

chosen mostly because he is closer to the ground already.
Others like Oliver North and Felix Ismael Rodriguez who ordered the kidnapping torture murder of Kiki Camarena have never been prosecuted for that, or their drug trafficking into the US, but they were not presidential pardoned for it either, let's believe in hope...

  31. Chaps has plenty of time to try silent prayer and listen to God's voice. Else he can go crazy dong it all his way. He should appeal to supreme court on those SAMs to pave the way for others to follow, the tight rules is way out of line.
