Plaza Boss of "Grupo Sombra" in Arrested in Veracruz

Yaqui for Borderland Beat from: Riodoce
"El Tombo" claims to maintains a fight to death with Los Zetas.

Gabriel Sánchez Lugo, "El Tompo" , alleged plaza chief of the "Grupo Sombra" in Tantoyuca and identified as one of the main generators of violence in the north of Veracruz, was arrested by personnel of the Ministerial Police.

Proceso reported that the Grupo Sombra is a splinter of the Gulf Cartel that operates in the Huasteca Veracruz and municipalities of Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí.

The "Grupo Sombra" erupted in the middle of the first semester of 2017 in the municipalities of Tuxpan, Poza Rica, Coatzintla and Tihuatlán with intimidating canvases, ie narco mantas  that threatened, as well as common criminals and police officers who put their "finger" on them, members of other criminal organizations such as Los Zetas or the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG).

This situation exacerbated the violence in the northern area of Veracruz, especially in the Totonacapan and Huasteca regions.

If this image looks familiar, it is because I did use it recently on a post about Grupo Sombra

On the eve of Christmas and New Year, in downtown colonies of cities such as Tuxpan and Poza Rica, vans and unmarked combis ( small public transportation vans) without plates distributed dinners and drinks on behalf of that criminal organization.

The cards stuck in the vehicles indicated: "These dinners were sponsored by Special Forces Grupo Sombra, Felices Fiestas".

Although it is highly violent with the police forces and with its enemies from other criminal cells, it generates empathy among the marginal population of the north of Veracruz, to whom they usually organize Christmas festivals, of Three Kings Day and Children's Day.

In an afternoon press conference on Thursday, the Coordination Group Veracruz reported that, in addition to the dismantling of the "Grupo Sombra", four criminal gangs dedicated to kidnapping were also disintegrated.

"In a year, 247 delinquents have been detained for aggravated kidnapping and 38 gangs members dedicated to this crime have been dismantled," said SSP head Jaime Téllez and Attorney General Jorge Winckler.

"For several months, Gabriel" N "was wanted by the police for his participation in various acts of violence in the north of the state and violent assaults," the FGE reported in its official networks.

He operated the hired killers and other activities for the cartel cartel Grupo Sombra, a branch of the Gulf Cartel that operates in the north of Veracruz and the south of Tamaulipas for several years, and which maintains a fight to the death with Los Zetas.

The arrest of "El Tompo" was carried out by personnel of the State Attorney General's Office, who executed an arrest warrant against him for the murder of a person from whom he also robbed.

Gabriel "N" was presented to detention control before the judge of oral proceedings that claims it.

Other members of this organization who already have an arrest warrant are:  Martín Martínez Hernández "El Mirinda", Silvano Cruz Moreno Melvin Brown, Jaime Lagunes Salgado "El Gordo" and José Manuel "El Delgadillo" Montes Joselyn.

  1. PR campaigns like everyone else with toys, dinners and music festivals for townspeople. In the end doing the same as politicians who offer but take so much more in return.

    3. I will applaud if true.
Past and present groups have claimed the same but failed to meet their so-called standards.

    4. I hope you all know that when the Zetas first started fighting everyone the other cartels are the ones that killed a bunch of innocents and placed mantas claiming it was Zetas in order to get everyone to hate them and go against them.. I'm not saying the Zetas are good but the other cartels played it smart to get everyone against them. If Z-50 wouldn't of flipped he would of maintained the Zacatecas stronghold giving all these fools a big fight still and CDN would of still been Zetas supporting each other dishing out huge wars still.

    2. @11:52 Maybe that was before all I know is that CDG from Tampico doesn't like Grupo Sombra. Grupo Sombra are working under CDG from Matamoros and ZVE in Veracruz against other Z cells not ZVE.
