DEA Makes Big Heroin/ Fentanyl Bust in NY w Photos of Pablo Escobar

Yaqui for Borderland Beat from: Excelsior

NEW YORK (AP):  Drug enforcement officials in New York say they've seized narcotics labeled with a photo of infamous Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, who was head of the Colombian Medellin Cartel and who died in 1993.

The Drug Enforcement Administration said Monday agents found 77 pounds (35 kilograms) of suspected heroin mixed with fentanyl during a search of an apartment in Harlem.

They valued the drugs at more than $10 million.

Investigators said some of the kilos were wrapped in tape with photos of Escobar and labels reading "Pablo" and "Escobar."

Ray Donovan heads the DEA's New York City office. He says agents also made two arrests and seized $200,000 in cash, a machine for counting money, transaction records and a balance

Monday the arrest in New York of two men with a load of 34 kilos of heroin and fentanyl, valued at more than ten million dollars, which were wrapped in packages with the photo of Colombian capo Pablo Escobar.

The detainees were identified as Ariel Hernandez, who was accused of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and Luisuidyn Garcia Mena, accused of conspiracy and identity theft, according to local media.

Most of the drugs confiscated in an apartment in the Harlem community were wrapped in bricks while a small amount was found in Hernandez's backpack.

They also confiscated 200 thousand dollars in cash, a machine to count money, transaction records and a balance sheet.

The operation of the DEA, the Department of Security and the New York Police took place last Thursday as part of an investigation against drug trafficking.

According to the authorities, the packages were wrapped with brown, black and transparent adhesive tape, some had a photo of Escobar and others were identified with the names of "Pablo", "Escobar", codes and/or images of airplanes.

"The deaths related to opioids are at a very high level and it is our job to investigate those responsible for the illegal distribution of the drug," said DEA agent in charge of New York, Ray Donovan.

"This organization used a photo of Pablo Escobar, known as 'the king of cocaine', to mark his product, although this confiscation was not cocaine, it shows a sign of the times: that heroin and fentanyl are the more profitable and abundant products for traffickers and the most deadly threat to the public, " Donovan said.

    2. 1:54 Pablo Escobar died, and probably never knew who was behind his persecution, his "varito", the young lawyer he got employed at Colombia's civil aviation, decided he deserved everything better known as Alvaro Uribe Velez, he heated it all up to bring down pablo who in real life was a pendejo, but not as evil as el Uberrimo who still burns with ambition while he keeps trying to save his ass from the law.

But Paying 270 million dollars to Oklahoma's Socialistas for the deaths that resulted from legal opioid prescriptions is a bad precedent, now people wants to sue the Sackler Family on top of sticking it to Purdue Pharma, who created the demand legally with their paid congress puppets and help of about 10 million dollars. --they should have stuck to hormones for Perdue Chicken, a virgin market who never feeds that crap to their chickens or the people.

  11. On the east coast, and parts of the midwest, dope is branded. This is just branding. It's also how they tell whose packages belong to whom when they cross the border. I wouldn't read much into it.
