Municipal Police Chief Murdered in Oluta, Veracruz

Xalapa, Veracruz:

The director of the Municipal Police of Oluta, Francisco Javier Melo Hernández, and his escort, were murdered in front of the house of the municipal president, María Luisa Prieto Duncan.

Days before, the police chief was threatened through a message that was supposedly left on a corpse.

The events occurred around 5:00 pm when the retired infantry lieutenant, Francisco Javier Melo Hernández, and the element that accompanied him, were attacked by the occupants of a white Hilux truck , on Calle Aldama, corner with Francisco Villa, in El Centro near the municipal building.

The victims were traveling in a Ford Eco Sport car, blue, YHL9781 license plates; during the attack, both tried to get to safety and the escort of the Oluta Municipal Police Director, Francisco Javier Melo Hernández, tried to escape, but the bullets hit him and he fell on the sidewalk; Meanwhile, Melo Hernández lay dead inside the unit. The escort has not been identified as of this report.


The place was cordoned off by the authorities of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Public Security; despite mounting an operation to find those responsible, last night there were no reports of arrests.

  3. A Chief that wanted his city clean was killed. Those criminals travel in groups to kill, but if they are alone they act like a coward.
