2250 kilos of cocaine: Canadian one of eight arrested by Mexican Navy in large at-sea drug bust

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat Rivera-Maya News
Oaxaca — Eight people were arrested by the Mexican Navy after they spotted a suspicious vessel in the waters off the coast of Oaxaca. One of the eight arrested was a Canadian.

Marinos of the Mexican Navy have arrested a total of eight people after chasing a small vessel with the help of four other boats and two helicopters. The water chase took place off the coast of Oaxaca when members of the navy were conducting routine surveillance.

A vessel was seen by an aircraft of the Mexican Navy approximately 150 nautical miles (278 kilometers) southwest of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca. From the air using nighttime vision equipment, they saw a suspicious vessel with two high-powered outboard motors and covered cargo.
Four ships were sent in their direction while two maritime patrol aircraft kept track of the small boat. Marine Corps personnel intercepted the vessel which is when they found the eight men and two tons of cocaine.

When navy personnel inspected the boat, they found 2,250 kilos of cocaine and eight people, one Canadian, three Colombians and four Mexicans. The two-ton drug bust was most recent off the Pacific coast of Mexico.

In August, after an intense water chase off the coast of Cuajinicuilapa, Guerrero the Navy of Mexico seized a two-ton shipment of cocaine.

  1. Expect prices to skyrocket with these busts. The risks are getting riskier for shipments to make their destinations. Economics 101 supply and demand. Maybe then consumption will ease with cocaine and meth users.
Until fools find another drug to consume at a cheaper cost which is easily accessible. Like rat poison.

    1. 11:47 Are you speaking sarcastically? Cocaine production is exponentially higher than it has ever been and a one or two ton loss is a simple cost of doing business. Bolivia’s Morales essentially allows 90% of coca leaves to be sold on the non-regulated market because farming peasants are his power base, and Peru’s production has exploded to the point where 100 kilos bought on Bolivian or Peruvian soil can go for as little as $90k where 10 years ago it was closer to $170k (at the exchange rate 10 years ago).

    2. Im super happy to hear about this bust. I've had a drug problem for years. Now the dealers are finally getting problems themselves. Keep it going and stop all the illegal drugs from coming for all I care. Saves some more lives by busting a supplier m

  3. Consuptiom decline can ease but will take its time, while those already addicted either are rehabilitated or die off and those growing uo dont get a chance to try it and get hooked, for the mean time if these busts cause the price to skyrocket overnight, the sudden effects will be an increase in crime such as robberies, theft, and assaults since those addicted try to find a way to get their fix.

There are pictures of the boat here. It's just a typical . lancha. My question then is, Why so many people aboard? Way too many more than needed. 2 could run a boat like that for nearly any distance. With three it would be a vacation, if there were enough beer er, food I mean.

  10. If you think these bust that have happened lately are going to cause the cost of cocaine and methamphetamine to skyrocket you’re a fool and you have no idea how much math and Coke are coming into the country. Since the 80s drugs have gotten much easier to get in more plentiful and thus much cheaper. That will continue there are simply too much money in it

  11. Coke prices have already skyrocketed long before this bust.. I tried to leave a comment on another post asking if anybody had any theories why but my comment was not published... There seems to be a major shortage of high quality perico right now.

    1. South American cartels are having difficulty trusting Mexican connections. Since many are robbing one another or simply losing loads in logistics.

  12. 10 made it for the 1 that got caught. Think about it peeps, you dont ship all yo shit in one boat. Break it down send multiple boats. 1 keeps them busy and the rest of the boats make it.
