                                                                     World Cup 2018
June 25, 2018

In the first of two attacks took place along the Texas border around 11:00 a.m. local time. Six people were killed during the first attack during a drive-by shooting as they sat watching the soccer game from inside their garage on Saturday, June13, 2018.

According to witnesses, a van pulled up to the home and a group of armed attackers jumped out and fired at the party of soccer fans. Neighbors immediately called local police to report the incident and an investigation is underway.

Within the course of an hour, another five people were murdered when a pair of gunmen burst into a barber shop and killed the two clients and three barbers found inside.

Eleven more soccer fans were shot and killed in Mexico following the nation’s win against South Korea in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, police reported.

Meanwhile in Mexico City Thousands of Fans Caused "An Earthquake"

Mexico built on the momentum from their stunning opening victory over world champions Germany by comprehensively beating South Korea 2-1 Saturday and taking a giant leap towards reaching the last - 16 of a World Cup.  Thousands  filled the streets of Mexico celebrating with small parades and alcoholic beverages, despite the state's temporary dry law.

In response to the violent outbreak along the border, local law enforcement issued a warning via their social media accounts, advising residents to stay inside their homes while assailants were at large.

"Do not take this statement lightly, we warn you that we are not playing ... anyone who is out at 11 pm- either walking, driving motorcycles, cars, vans with tinted windows- will be stopped. We do not want to confuse you with them so pay attention,” the statement said.

Later, another four victims were reported dead around midnight, drawing Saturday night to a close with a final death toll of 16 murders.

A report published by the National Public Security System on Thursday warned that 2018 may become the most deadly year in the country's history.

Since January, a total of 13,298 people (reported) have been murdered in Mexico: a 21 percent increase on the same period last year.

The month of May, with a total of 2,890 murders reported – approximately 93 victims per day or four every hour – saw the nation's highest homicide rate registered since 1997.

    1. Soccer is just another way to keep people down. It does not help the country

    2. If you think it doesn’t help that’s your opinion. The fact that you say it keeps people down is ridiculous.

    1. I did not personally make that up. That was reported all over Mexican media.
I don’t think they meant it as a LITERAL earthquake, it was meant as an earthquake of joy.

    2. Nope, it was a legit earthquake. US Geographical Survey Satellite recorded a seismic event, in Mex City of .03 on the Richter scale at the exact time the goal was scored.

  8. It’s really hard to control your excitement when your home country team wins. So much pride of your republic that you celebrate by killing your own country men. Amazing isn’t it?

  11. This article is depressingly illustrative of Mexicos' broader problem. In any other developed nation, the wanton massacre of six people would stop the nation and the culprits would be identified and brought to justice. That will never happen in Mex. Then the article swaps gear to some irrelevant factoid about sports cheering, ffs.
Mexico is not normal, it is broken. Reporting and general attitudes like this don't happen anywhere else on earth

  12. So gangsters are taking advantage of these social gatherings to settle scores, so they can kill more people/settle multiple at one time? Or are the gangsters killing random people watching the games? Not sure what to make of this. At first I thought it was killings related to soccer, like fans from a rival team taking vengeance, but given the rival team was Korea, that doesn't make sense.

    1. It seems it was narcos wearing the mexican Jersey. Narcos are soccer fans too, remember when that afo got caught watching the game at a Carls júnior in tj. I remember one time we were watching a boxing bout the place was full of narcos, narco wannabes and of course narco cheerleaders. Good thing they were all cheering for the same fighter.

  14. 7:01 You got it bud . Mexico is broken . There is always hope . They just arrested 30 alleged corrupt police officers . I would guess the killers knew what their targets would be doing . Had everything to do with the target . A little to do with the soccer game . Its not random .
