6 unarmed Transit Police in Salamanca Guanajuato slaughtered (Video and article)

Posted by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat with additional information from Epoca Violenta and Milenio

There are at least four cartels in Guanajuato, but the principal players are Los Zetas from Tamaulipas, a faction of the Cartel de Noreste, and the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion.

In 2013 a large number of Zeta operators emigrated to this state to "colonise" it. They are the alleged perpetrators of this massacre, but all of the cartels mentioned above have a reputation for extreme violence with zero regard to consequences.

From Milenio

On Friday, six policemen from Salamanca who were unarmed were killed by gunmen in the La Gloria neighborhood during an operation, the Guanajuato attorney general's office said. Five of the policemen died on the site. The other died when he received medical attention.

The attack occurred near the military headquarters in Sarabia, where Governor Miguel Márquez was heading a meeting with authorities of the three levels of government. The meeting was to review actions to strengthen security. Officials confirmed to MILENIO that the agents were José Luis Hernández González, Victoriano Sánchez, Vicente Bueno Zavala, Martín Conteras Pérez, Héctor Manuel Rivera Órnelas and Juan Manuel Gutiérrez González.

The victims placed at a stop on Calle Sol, 50 meters from Primitivo Soto Elementary School and, according to witnesses, shortly after 11 in the morning the crew of a gray Jeep-type truck passed by and fired. "There were five of those who came in the van," said one witness, mentioning that the attackers approached the agents and fired directly.

In elementary school, the students went into nervous breakdowns, while the teachers sheltered them in the classrooms during the shooting, said workers. The place was attended by personnel from the Federal Police, Gendarmerie, Municipal Public Security of Celaya and Villagrán and Army. The government secretary, Gustavo Rodríguez Junquera, revealed that the State Coordination Group will reinforce security in Salamanca after the attack on road agents.

    1. 6:37 You do not have respect for the dead? Policeman’s at this position and no arms should have right to work and support the family no?
They have the uniform of low level policía and only cowards will kill these fathers, brothers, sons.

    2. Cowards which all cartels are, am pretty sure it was done by some moron squad trying to earn their stripes. Sad thing is if caught they will be released, these rabid dogs shouldn't get caught, they should be put to sleep.

  2. Usually cops work with cartels in Mexico, they probably worked for the enemy of that cartel that killed them.

    1. 6:48 you are PROBABLY WRONG,
If they had worked for another cartel they would have had weapons and would have been watching their backs, but I understand your concerned anguish about their lost lives.

    2. 6:32 you obviously haven't gone to Mexico and came across police men. Believe it or not, you hear that audio from Mencho talking to a police chief?

    3. I know parking attendants elevated to "policia vial",
the position only helps them collect tips to supplement their meager salaries, it does not make them police chiefs.
But the governor nearby was real well protected by all kind and manner of police specialists and I bet a few private security contractors.

  3. Being any kind of goverment security force in mexico is like being a Sitting duck. Tránsito are like traffic officers who take bribes for traffic violations. Whats the point of killing them unless their second income is being look outs for other cartels, but dam at least aspire to get job de quico with a gun not just a tamarindo with nothing but a wistle and a ticket book to defend your self.

    1. These transitos are more like parking attendants
and they depend largely on tips from people they help to park, like saying viene viene, come on, they were doing a Gala Celebration with the pinche gobernador but nothing real special.
No moonlighting for "another cartel" for them.

  4. That’s false Zetas are not involved in the Guanajuato fight. The fight is CJNG VS El Marro of Guanajuato

    3. @Char: I’ve read that El Marro was originally a Zeta. Maybe that’s the point the article is trying to make with the note about the Zetas “colonizing” Guanajuato in 2012-13. But you’re correct—Marro’s group signs their posters/mantas with Cartel de Santa Rosa or, more recently, Cartel de Guanajuato—so Marro is disassociating himself from his Zeta roots.

  10. You’re a failed state when your enforcers are being slaughtered and hunted down and you can’t do anything about it. instead of going after the killers, you ‘reinforce security’. That’s ridiculous , they in another town or state killing more officers now, you can’t reinforce the whole country. May God bless the good people of MX

@ 6:37AM why would you call the police bastards you loser.

  11. Read this few days ago.
Unbelievable! These individuals were slaughtered by their own government for giving them the essentials to defend themselves.
Question? Why would government send these poor individuals knowing what they are up against? Could this have been a collusion activity from those superiors for some unknown objective?
Total incompetence and disrespectful on behalf of those poor individuals slaughtered.

Same with these "law enforcement" guys, dressed like cops, got light up like cops, México is a lost cause why would you risk getting kill for a few pesos specially with out give no a chance to protect your self.

  12. This is not the first time I have seen talk about the Zetas being in Guanajuato. Is this just plain wrong information, or is there reason to believe that El Marro is supported by the Zetas? Other than these yearly analyses, I have never seen anything here in GTO that would lead me to believe the Zetas are here. No banners, no nothing.

Also half the peeps working for cnjg are from the rancheras from acambaro and the city. I guess when you have no money youll do anything.

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU GOING TO KILL?
The mexican government forces have been doing enough killings of innocents, better police work would have been installing checkpoints better equipped, with weapons, instead of having them around the facking governor smelling his every fart aND all the other "dignitaries' and authorities".

  24. The article states it occurred by the military headquarters. Where was personnel then, on the toilet? This happens in broad daylight and you cannot capture those responsible is almost a crime in and of itself. At least give these guys the decency of capturing their murderers promptly so that criminals know there are consequences. Criminals act with impunity in Mexico and the government lets them get away with it. Tell me if that is not as egregious as the crime itself and inept politicians and heads of police are to blame.
