Veracruz Govt ups reward to 5 million pesos for El Bukanas the train derailer

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from several Epoca Violenta articles

Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

The Governor of Veracruz, Miguel Angel Yunes Linares reporter the following during a press conference. "We have announced the increase in the reward to anyone who provides accurate information that leads to the capture of the leader of one of the criminal cells operating in the area, where they have assaulted several Ferrosur trains, in the states of Veracruz and Puebla. He is Roberto de los Santos de Jesus, aka "El Bukanas".

The reward has risen by four million pesos. Previously the reward was one million pesos. He indicated that "thanks to the research work carried out by all the members of the Veracruz Coordination Group, it can be said that soon the criminal cells operating in the Acultzingo area in Veracruz could be deactivated".

"It has been possible to determine the places where the members of the criminal gangs, which operate in the border area of Veracruz and Puebla, sell their stolen products". The Governor said that operations will be carried out in these areas with security personnel with sophisticated weapons, who are instructed to act with the maximum force allow by the law against criminals, that is weapons will be used if necessary.

Otis: this increase is due to the following events which happened on the 19th of May. Extortion payments demanded by El Bukanas to Grupo Mexico Transportes and Ferrosur have not been paid, so El Bukanas has decided to start derailing trains in urban areas.

A train carrying hoppers loaded with wheat was derailed intentionally and crashed into another train in Orizaba, Veracruz. The trains were split, which has not happened in other criminal incidents against these transports.

At least seven people were injured, including a ten year old boy and members of the crew of the impacted trains who were rescued. There are also reports of injured migrants who were travelling on the roof of the train, but the total number of the people affected is unknown.

The incident occurred at 03:35 in the Rio Blanco colonia in Orizaba, Veracruz.

Mexican Group Transport (GMXT) reported that the braking system of a train that was heading from Veracruz to Puebla was manipulated in an act of sabotage by people outside of the company. "These criminals also split the train causing the uncontrolled landslide of 39 cars and 4 locomotives down a 10 kilometer descent, until they hit another train in Orizaba railway yard.

The crew of the impacted train were rescued from the locomotives and taken to medical services for attention. GMXT also commented on its concern that " these types of attacks endanger the lives of the population in the towns through which it travels, as well as those of the railroad workers".

On this route from Veracruz to Mexico City, different types of dangerous chemicals are transported by train, a situation that increases the risk of these operations in the prevailing insecurity situation said GMXT.

The train derailed had a chemical classification, however Civil Protection and Firefighter of Veracruz ruled out any chemical, gas or diesel leaks. The people of El Bukanas, Roberto de los Santos de Jesus are the authors of the events. El Bukanas is the Zeta leader of the Mountainous area of that part of Veracruz that borders Puebla, and is an expert in firearms, fuel theft, training of sicarios and assault on trains, he was previously Commander of Municipal Police in the Maltrata area of Veracruz.

  2. Unless those operations were carried out as he was announcing it to the press, or immediately afterwards, the bad guys won't be there when his troops get to the location(s). In which case the governor is either an idiot, or he's in league with them; you should not telegraph your moves to the enemy.

    2. Some terrorist airplane bombers get to be made into "Heros" on the US, one clever example is Cuban emigré Luis Posada Carriles...
--also, some buddy said 9/11 was not the first airplane attack on the US that killed US Citizens,
--The first airplane attack on Americans on the US was in Tulsa Oklahoma, where the black Wall Street was firebombed to help white rioters finish the job in 1927...
