CJNG accused of murdering 3 missing film students who were dissolved in acid

Chivis Martinez for Borderland Beat  from  Reforma

Javier Salomón Aceves Gastélum, Jesús Daniel Díaz García and  Marco García Ávalos the three film students, missing since March 19, were murdered and dissolved in acid, according to the investigations of the Attorney General.

In a press conference, Prosecutor Raúl Sánchez Jiménez informed that Gerardo "N" and Omar "N" were detained in the case, who received one year of preventive detention.

It was also reported that there are 8 other people related to the crime, and that the facts are due to an alleged conflict between cartels.

In a video, it was detailed that 15 farms were inspected, 400 interviews were conducted and 6 vehicles were insured.

The three students would have made their film in a safe house of the Cartel Nueva Plaza, without knowing it."

According to the investigations of the Prosecutor's Office presented in said video, the house in which the students made their video as part of their project, provided by the aunt of one of them, was property of Diego Mejía,  member of a group criminal contrary to the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación.

Members of CJNG group saw the students on the farm and abducted and transferred them to another farm in Colonia Pinar de las Palomas, in Tonalá.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, at that point they were beaten in pursuit of reports from the opposite criminal group, and they took their lives.

Later they took them to the address in Amapola 450, in Colonia Rancho de la Cruz, where they were  dissolved in acid.

"The students were in a place of grave risk, guarded by a criminal cell of the CJNG, in opposition to the Cártel Nueva Plaza, to which Diego and 'El Cholo' belong," the Prosecutor's Office reported.

Lizette Torres, head of the investigation, said that the investigations to find the rest of the suspects continue.

Additional information:

The film students  took advantage of the long weekend to make a short film that corresponded to a school project . The 3 studied film in Guadalajara.

This is a confusing case from the beginning, with “facts” shifting.

Initially witnesses had affirmed that CAAV students were kidnapped by elements of  the Prosecutor's Office. The participation of police elements and other authorities in this disappearance have not been verified, but this is the account of witnesses.

On April 18 when the authorities found three tambos/drums with solvents and acids in an area located on Calle Ahuehuetes, in the Rancho de la Cruz neighborhood.

In that search, blood stains were found in a seized vehicle, in addition to more stains in different parts of the building. The drums with acid were found in different rooms of the property, which is presumed to belong to the CJNG.

The Tonalá building belonged to the aunt of one of the students,  Edna Judith, who was arrested at the beginning of April.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the 3 young people were intercepted by the CJNG on their way to Guadalajara. This occurred after being observed in the safe house of the Nueva Plaza Cartel.

Identification was determined by DNA analysis.

The state agency confirmed that the young people had no relationship with the drug traffickers of the region and that their only "mistake" was to shoot the film on property that was used by the criminal group.

The Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro, winner of the Oscar prize this year and originally from Jalisco, said that this case is "terrifying".

The kidnapping of the three students provoked outrage in the state of Jalisco and has revealed the wave of violence that plagues the state.

According to figures Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), in the first quarter of 2018 there were 353 homicides in the state which has broken the record as the beginning of the most violent year of the last 20 years.

  1. Wrong place to be in, at the same time many people work for cartels and people don't know. My condolences if they were really just innocent bystanders. This has been happening more and more lately all over Mexico. I was planing on going to Guadalajara this summer but I don't feel safe. Mexico has a problem with security

  2. It's always been interesting to me that the Jalisco Cartel was smart enough to expand as much as it has, but at the same time is too stupid to realize that stuff like this just brings them unwanted attention.

    1. This was a supremely dumb move on their part. These weren't members of the lower socioeconomic classes, the kind who disappear every day and nobody gives a shit. They killed middle-class (or lower middle-class) *film* students, for god's sake. They're the kind of people who have the necessary knowledge on how to make and disseminate messages effectively through social media. And they've been kicking up a fuzz, with good reason.

    2. Smart? They betray and flip cells of other cartels that aint happy. They used the cds backing till they had enough power to actually make a move. Before that they got ran out of michoacan by la familia nacho messed up by letting them in jalisco.

  5. It was a beautiful day. Having arrived I Guadalajara for our final night in mexico the late afternoon. Took pictures of the pretty buildings and soaking up the culture.

I was in Guadalajara eating a nice dinner and I decided to look up the news. Saw that three students were missing yesterday and me and my sister decided not to walk around Guadalajara more at night. We noped out and went back to our airbnb at 8:30 pm and stayed there until our flight in the early morning. Gosh. How horrible. May those who are involved in this meet the same pain that they have inflicted on others. Barbaric.

    3. People talking about jaliska police officers arresting the students, are credible because they are supposed to by orders from above, now they must find somebody to blame for the kidnappings and murders, haiga sido o no haiga sido.
People should surround every arrest scene and get the officers involved ID and sign off as witnesses to prevent the police fuck-ups and abuses like these, it would be EASY a d CHEAP to have every officer and their vehicle bar coded and scanable, but terrorizing the people is a necessary evil to keep them on their toes paralyzed with fear.

    6. jalisco is a kidnappers dream now. Mencho is hiding in the mountains smoking pounds of speed having his own guys killed and turned in. Only a matter of time before him and his meth head son to be arrested. Cjng isnt a cartel its a gang of drug addict kidnapper murderers.

    7. 4:52 they're no more than any CDS tweeker, second in jalisco just like sinaloa with CDS people like and hate cartels presence. I hate them but its BETTER than when CDS tried and had some control of gdl, that is a fact! I say kill them all but cjng is lesser of 2 evils when it comes to innocents.

    2. If one was related to Cholo then he probably diserved it. Not one mexican would deny pride for being related to a "pesado" or a "narco" stupid mofos are proud to be related to drug dealers! I am related to a few you know what i stay away from them and dont associate with them.

    3. Then we know one of them may have, or may not have been innocent. We know how proud people are of family members being top drug lords! Always want to be involved...

--many times the are no bodies or (corpus delicti),
--the disappearers or murderers are unknown
--but everybody kows they were most possibly government death squads dedicated to state sponsored terrorism,
--Who do you want to apply the death penalty to?
Checkpoints and confiscating vehicles without license and registration or from unlicensed drivers could help, at least to track who is where, and responsibilizing police and military commanders for the crime happening on their watch, that could help a little, but "death penalty" a la Loco Duterte?

  13. Anyone knows anything about the cartel wars, since its birth CJNG have been a scary well organized crew, and have done things on video and off that is just as bad as any Zeta

  14. The us should do commercials in México with phone number for mexican people to call and say were these scumbags are. Can't trust the mexican police for nothing. These lowlifes should be leveled as terrorist as some gangs are called urban terrorists here in the u.s and be dealt with accordingly.Take no prisoner type mentality, if they put a law in mexicos next election am pretty sure it will pass with récord numbers.

  15. What about all the other innocent men, women and children CDS, CDG, Zetas, and all the other lowlife cartels and extortionist kill? They should all be exterminated also, including CJNG. You must be one of those that trully believes CDS doesnt kill innocent people, doesnt take young girls and prostitutes then... cartels and thinkers like you are also the problem!
