PGR detains "Big Papa" in CDMX, fianacier of the CdG and one of the most sought after by the DEA

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Zetatijuana article

Subject Matter: Nazario Cavazos de Luna, Big Papa
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

Thanks to Yaqui for the heads up on this article

Reporter: Carlos Alvarez
The Criminal Investigation Agency of the PGR detained Nazario Cavazos de Luna, alias Big Papa, in Mexico City, alleged operator of the Cartel del Golfo and included in the most wanted list of the DEA.

The PGR informed that the suspect was captured in a zone of Mexico City, without violence, with an arrest warrant that has an extradition order attached, moved by a Judge of the Sixth District of Federal Penal Processes.

"The arrest of this individual was carried out in strict adherence to due process and at all times his rights were respected", said a PGR spokesman on the arrest of Nazairo Cavazos de Luna.

The Federal Government had already carried out an operation to arrest de Luna, on one of his properties in the town of Bustamante, in the State of Nuevo Leon, but he managed to escape and relocate to the Capital.

Cavazos is required by the Federal Court of the East District of Texas to be prosecuted for his possible responsibility of criminal association, money laundering and possession of firearms.

The extradition warrant ranks him as an alleged operator of the Cartel del Golfo, in an alleged investigation by the DEA that dates back to 2012 and which led to one of his accomplices, Oscar Cantu Ramirez being captured in the United States.

Cantu Ramirez stated, at the time, that he was commissioned by Cavazos to negotiate the purchase of marijuana and cocaine for sale and that he was in possession of money earned from drug trafficking to deliver it personally to de Luna.

John Gottlob, a DEA Agent, testified that, " Big Papa" also employed a subject named Lauro Abel Grimaldo, to hire drivers to distribute the drugs throughout the United States.

The alleged drug trafficker will be placed at the disposal of the Federal Judge who ordered his temporary detention, designated by the Committee for National Security.

    2. @8:04: I dont think the mexican elite need Salinas help to be über-corrupt. He might have shown how shamelessly blatant corrupt it is possible to be in Mexico and get away with it by paying everybody off (and eliminate those resisting), but today's sitting elite gets on just fine without his help.

    3. 6:36 To steal his election, Carlos Salinas de Gortari's "team" murdered more than 500 volunteers of Cuauhtemoc Cardenas party, salinas still lost the election, the electoral commission even stopped the vote count and said "the system crashed", a fqmous saw in mexican politics after that, they meant the comouter system, the mexican people very smartly agree, but for them it means the mexican political system crashed entirely, woon after the ballots were burned to erase the proof of their crime,
--today nothing moves without carlos salinas de gortari's say so, his allies know who is the boss, if they want to be around.

Showing them respect voluntarily is evidence of being either as dumb as a rock or as an uncivilized scumbag as they are.

    2. Legalizing drugs wont end anything. These cartel scum will just find another way to rape society and the Mexican government will allow it. If Mexico really wanted to address the problem and attempt to begin to solve it, they would change the laws. Start with an automatic death sentence if arrested and convicted of being part of a cartel or cartel activity. The cartels are out of control due to greed. If they were actually run be someone that didn't have sh!t for brains, they would realize that sharing the border and not killing each other is waaaayyyy more profitable.

"the triumph of the drug industry over the DEA"
Joe Rannazzisi formed DEA agent kicked out to hinder investigation of opioids, lawmakers kickbacks and big pharma.

    4. The WaPo article was a bag of crap, pushing a false narrative. Do you really want the DEA to determine which pharmacy shipments are shipped to pharmacy? It will not do a damn thing to help the so called crisis.

Lets take a deeper look. They shout "200k opioid deaths. leading the reader to think it is in one year when the real number is 40-50k... 200k was for 5 years with a caveat see next paragraph

AND that includes ALL deaths combined such as prescription and street drugs including heroin.

Alcohol deaths are three times the amount of opiates.

Not saying SENSIBLE measures shouldn't be applied, like physicians required to use surescript data before writing a rx for pain med, it instantly provides the physician with each and every RX written for the patient, date, dose, doctor etc for the past 6 months-statewide.

or a referral to a pain specialist after 6 months of chronic pain. These types help not the BS in the article or anything the gov has come up with.

and physicians can sign up with the patient's insurance carrier to provide quarterly or monthly a list of drug info-emailed to the physicians office. This is all rx nation wide. also incl alerts if it appears patient is doctor shopping.

there are measures in place, they need to be mandatory, and used against doctors when appropriate

    4. 5:50 because the m4 is a peace of crap. I don't care what people say. Funny. Is usually in the movies and video games where the m16/m4 are the most reliable weapons ever. I guess the dead soldiers in the Battle of Wanat, Afghanistan have a different opinion. Again, i don't even see the logic in using a CARABINE for CQC in a place like Afghanistan where engagements were at 500 meters and expecting the m4 to be a DMR/LMG at once. No wonder a taliban farmer using an old Enfield rifle caused do much PTSD to tacticool soldiers with their super m4.

Are you sure he is wanted for posession of weapons?

    3. The issue is not money directly, but the political power that come with it. That is why the US is awash with drugs, but there are no big cartels in the US (except for the US government and the instituions which it supports). That way the US government elite ensures that the political power associated with drugs is with the government and not some crime groups whilst at the same time benefitting from the WoD.
