Boss of Los Cuinis captured in Uruguay will be extradited to the US

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Proceso article

Subject Matter: Gerardo Gonzalez Valencia
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

Reporter: Proceso Redaction
The Uruguay Justice Department accepted the petition of the United States for the Mexican narco trafficker Gerardo Gonzalez Valencia, member of Los Cuinis, part of the Catel Jalisco Nueva Generacion, who can be found in prison in Montivideo for suspected money laundering activities.

The Mexican narco trafficker, who was detained at the end of April of 2016 in the Uruguayan Capital city is accused in the United States for the crime in the decade of the 1990's in the State of California, as well as drug trafficking.

In June of 2016, the United States solicited Uruguay for the extradition of Gonzalez Valencia, and the extradition request was finally accepted by the Judge Beatriz Larrieu, according to details of a sentence of the 28th of August passed on today for public opinion from the EFE.

The document concedes the extradition of the Mexican, even though it establishes other conditions, among them that, that of the necessity of obtaining the temporary release or definitive freedom in Uruguay to be able to leave for the United States.

The member of Los Cuinis was arrested during operation Jalisco and later tried for money laundering. Judge Larrieus ruling states that for extradition to take effect, the US authorities must assure the Uruguayan Justice Dept, that Gonzalez Valencia will not be tried or convicted for offences other than those referred to in the extradition request.

The United States will have a term of 40 days from the notification ruling to present the guarantees requested by the Uruguayan justice system.

According to Larrieus ruling, the Mexican is required in the United States from committing drug offenses, specifically a conspiracy to introduce and distribute substances containing detectable amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine.

That offence is sanctioned in the United States with a penalty of not less than ten years of prison.

    1. So right compadre...Why do we keep arresting these guys? Most are serial mass murderers...and purpatraters of ungodly other offenses toward Innocents...execute on sight. I would think the gov would want them dead...to Quote NWA, # a dead bitch can't tell ni**a shit!) That way the gov, can cover it's ass, and we can at least slow it down. If a Coast guard ship pulls over a boat or sub full of dope, shoot all aboard....Harsh....yep, crazy, maybe, political backlash? Certainly....but since you can't control demand.....Annhialate supply....go at em so hard, it won't be worth the money to stay in biz....it's the only way...the cartels may have enough means to take on the Mex. gov, but no way in hell they could last a few hours, if not days if US went hard at em....But, our govs making pleny of $$$ and off these guys, it'd have to come down from Trump, and EPN....scary times right now.

    2. El Rojo, I agree with you sentiment when young boys and girls getting executed, although if they shoot at militar I do not believe militar has any opción but to return the fire to them. I do not agree with one man (police, militar) being judge, jury, execution because that has long been problem here and this happened to my great abuelo and great uncles because they were land owners during Mexican Revolution. Mexico must reform the more efficient judiciary processes and accountability. Also reform many laws so criminals with money can not manipulate system with delays and even bribery to judge (Rafa Quintero).

    3. Beautiful input @7:47
As much as one is fed up with this non- sense of epidemic proportions. The judiciary system is by all means the foundation of a civil society. Given the facts that Mexico has been influenced by greed and political corruption. It's very imperative
that laws are implemented to cease such activities.
Nevertheless, I can agree with certain measures of enforcement use where matters of security are of concern. That is ; those capos who engage in a continuous criminal activities. Engagements of terror and violence should be met with fatal consequences.
Let's face the reality here for a bit. These cartels are no different from those terrorists groups who behead , enslave and plunder their citizens. Moreover, applying their decree as rule of law.
Enough is enough. Mexican citizens have suffered far too long from those continuously wishing to exist. Those individuals who can care less of moral values and behavior. Unfortunately, Some simply need to be put down. Like that of a rabid dog!

      Good comment though.

    4. 7::::47 when criminals with even more money than the narcos can manipulate the system, extort their own countrymen to finanace their beloved wars on drugs, on narcos, even on imaginary weapons of mass destruction and on private war machines to fight the wars for profit they are igniting all the time, it gets harder and harder to believe the mexican narcos are the root of the problem, for example, the mexican narcos may bleed the mexican oil pipelines, but they will never get to expropriate or buy, much less 'own' pemex...
--the US can only afford and tolerate so much independency or freedoms and progress on other countries they believe belong to their collection of slave banana republics.

    5. 5:50 I am missing the relevance to my post but I can see we both understand what feeds the mafia machine. Duterte needs addicts, Trump needs immigrants, Putin needed Chechyns, Hitler needed Jews, and the ongoing US War for Drugs needs American drug users and narcos "to fight". Only with USA demand for drugs can the politicos spend their tax dolars with los narcos as the symbol of the enemigo of USA.

In return for playing along; we, Mexico get to buy billion USD worth of USA made equipment with USA tax dolars through the Merida Initiative. As you say, a collection of banana republics.

    6. 6:43 the billions of dollars the US give to mexico are moire fictitious than saddams imaginary weapons of mass destruction now defended by the war profiteers by saying "the intelligence at the time justified bla bla bla..." lets remember the intelligence at the time was forcefully fed to the american government at the time by themselves.
--you are here demanding or proposing that anybody that looks like narcos and child killers get killed on the spot, by the ignorant mexican soldiers and polesias, when judges are not qualified to be taking kickbacks much less to dictate the death sentence for anybody, you must belong to the death squads of el loco duterte, that BAAD, HYUGELY BAAAD!

    7. 4:41am; Your post describing what I wrote is exactly opposite of what I write and anyone who has read my posts know I am for reforming Mexico's branches of gob. Perhaps you must take reading comprehension or learn inglish better.

    8. 8:54 E42; I always enjoy your feedback but I challenge you in asking if you believe that "Mexico has been influenced by greed and political corruption" any more than the US? I would argue that greed is human nature and that our political system is built around greed by both power brokers and constituents as well.

11:46 CDM; 4:41am has obviously tried to hi-jack your comments and I have read you postulate many times that the ill-functioning legislative branch must perform if those enforcing (the executive) are to be motivated and even safe in the performance of their job. Likewise enjoy your feedback.

Well that's a tricky one to answer. You see in my line of business and that of colleagues. Kings eat with kings; and not referring to gang affiliation either.

--the torture and murder in chile of American Citizen Charles Horman at the hands of the chilean junta helped by the US navy and the CIA has never been solved, no matter how much Horman"s father pays, he got licky his son's body was found and returned to him on the US by the US government

    2. The US spends a lot more money fighting the war on drugs than they ever collect from arrested capos. Just because a judge orders a drug lord to pay millions of dollars doesn't mean they actually have to. Meanwhile the US spends billions a year in the drug war. It is not a money making operation fighting drug cartels.

      Delete
    3. 6:46 if the US government spends more money than it collects from the narcos, it is no problem, that money feeds a lot of very hungry corporate welfare queens depending on the US government largesse, and they bought and paid for that government anyway, it IS a money making operation for its creators who also do their drug trafficking and money laundering with impunity...
