El Z-40 transferred to Ciudad Juarez Prison

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Milenio article

Subject Matter: Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, El Z-40
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

The Commission for National Security has informed that the ex leader of Los Zetas, Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, was transferred from the maximum security prison of Altiplano, to the Cefereso at Ciudad Juarez.

Reporter: Milenio Digital
The leader of Los Zetas, Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, El Z 40, was transferred from Altiplano to the Cefereso at Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, informs the Commission for National Security.

"It is a precautionary rotation, that is carried out as a matter of course with the authorization of Judiciary", indicated sources of the Commission.

El Z-40 was detained by elements of the Marina during a surprise operation in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, in July of 2013. ( Otis: See Link to article by Chivis on his capture).

United States petitioned for the extradition of Z-40 for drug trafficking and homicides occurring between September of 2004 and July of 2013.

Trevino was converted to leader of Los Zetas, after the death of Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, "El Lazca" or "the executioner", on 7th of October of 2012.

He also worked for the narco trafficker Osiel Cardenas Guillen as part of the armed wing of the Cartel del Golfo. Later he left this criminal group, and made a pact with the Beltran-Leyva brothers.

The leader of Los Zetas is linked to diverse escapes of prisoners and is also alleged to have ordered the death of Jose Eduardo, son of the ex Governor of Coahuila, Humberto Moreira, which occured on the Santa Eulalia road, located between Acuna and Jimenez, on the 3rd of October last year.

According to data of the Secretary of National Defence, the assassination of the son of the ex Governor was instructed by Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, as a reprisal for the death of his nephew Alejandro Trevino Chavez.

The crimes attributed to Z-40 are being an organized crime member, carrying of firearms for exclusive use by the army, Navy and Air Force.

  1. We're going to have to go for more seizures of assets . We need to pour a lot more concrete . Odd how they don't tunnel thru the concrete in the usa but do in mexico . Must be better quality in the usa . We welcome you Z40 . Just the kind of immigrant we are looking for . If he gets imported I think I will pay extra taxes this year , just because.

    1. Ever heard of the Mexican company Cemex?? Thry make the best concrete mix in the Western Hemisphere and kill any competition in the usa. They probably poured most of the concrete in any prison thats been built in the past 20 years buddy. Do some research before sounding like a complete ass.

    4. @136 . You can bet these guy are sitting in the usa bragging about things in mexico being the biggest and best . Same old same old . anybody with 2 marbles to roll together gets you point . Mexican prisons are much less a prison than US prisons . The Connally 7 was the last notable big escape in the USA . How many years ago was that ? What was their death toll ? How did that work out for them ? The real point is we can hold them better in chain link than mexico can hold them in concrete . Something faulty down there . Aint it odd how we cant keep our border secure from illegal crossing from the south but mexico don't have that problem with the north . Must be harsher penalties on illegal migrants in mexico .

    7. An american prison guard makes twice a day the monthly pay of a mexican guard, probably more, there you have the root of corruption, and then guards have to pay upstairs, "the entre" may not be much, but it has to be extorted from the inmates somehow, and that is the bonus pay in mexico.
While on the US a disproportionate inate population is minorities, in mexico a lot of prisoners are kept because they can't pay very small fines or bail, but their crimes are mostly misdemeanors, real dangerous cartel members are only kept if they are real notorious, they usually bail out.

    5. The reality is that El Chapo was scared shitless of Z-40 and El Lazca that's why the BLO handled the war against the Zetas. Chapo didn't have the nuts for it only Arturo did. But what does it matter anyway? Arturo is dead, El Lazca is dead, Chapo is locked up and 40 is locked up. Ultimately they all lost the war in their own way.

    9. 7:42 While your measuring theZetas short lived dominance that was driven by brutality and intimidation and funded by extorting and kidnaping Mexicans, your not getting that CDS isn't interested in measuring their territory or anything else to boost their egos - they are 100% about business and they are operating in ALL the plazas they wish to be operating in from Juarez to Tijuana. Nuevo Laredo doesn't make biz sense for several security reasons with limited paved roads from Durango to Torreon then Saltillo and likewise there's limited arteries up 35. With their plazas between Juarez to TJ they have efficient access to every desireable hub in US and they maximize profits by better managing route protection, payoffs in US and Mexico, and benefit from these busy crossings (unlike all that CDG rely on LOL)
I encourage you to quit letting your emotions and admiration for Z40 cloud your analysis and begin to realize that CDS think and operate like grown ups who could care less if they've gained your respect, they don't measure their manhood by how big their territory is, and they think at a level that you do not seem to comprehend.

      Delete
    10. 7:42: You are 110% correct and very well stated. CDS financing conflict in Guerrero and Cabo has allowed them to do business with little to no interference and the naive but humorous comments that cds is dying, fighting internally, and that Mencho has taken over isn't hurting their egos at all and only enables them to continue growing exports and refine US distribution while also more cheaply and most important, more quickly launder proceeds so they can turn the work quicker, better, and more profitably. They run with the efficiency of amazon supported by a propoganda infrastructure that rivals rivals Trump and Putin's.

  8. Here's an idea. Why not have a private prison built across the border like perhaps there in cd Juarez and run by American guards that live in the U.S. to hpuse these type of criminals in Mexico itself? I, mean the guards themselves would have to be Americans perhaps living in Texas and traveling there to work but hired here in the U.S. with proper screening as well. Sort of like a Guantanamo Bay prison but in Mexico so that all the little bitches that cry about the expense of booking criminals here in the U.S. yet don't want these guys in the streets can shut up!
Real estate is cheaper in Mexico also so in that aspect there is another benefit right away as well.

Question is? Will he be extradited? Mexico may want to have his conviction be served there for the prominent figures suspected of assassinating. Moreover, he may fight tooth and nail with legalities in the judiciary system to halt any extradition. Which in my opinion is definitely in the process. American prison will not be a haven for him like that of Mexico.
Bet my money Mexicos government would have him serve time there first then get extradited to US.

    6. 6:10; Where in 7:24's comment was anything dumb written? The writer made a relevant observation and posed some interesting questions to consider.
Those of us who have been around know and we have watched the pawns; the Gallardos, AFOs, Carillos, and recently Chapo over stay their welcome when they get too power hungry and the political and business elite exhile then by death, arrest or extradition. However, nowhere in 7:24's post did they suggest that the real base of power and money of the narco business is not with the fine business and political families of Mexico as you go on to rant. (Like former politician Carlos Hank González and now narco junior Rohn laundering through his US banks and Mexican casinos that are now in every major Mexican city). And of course the PRI élite get their turn at lining foreign accounts with narco proceeds in every country to include your own country Señor DEA retiree.
Anyway, there Is no shortage of dumb comments to attack but its interesting a retired DEA agent would call that post dumb when it wasn't, and then back up your name calling with a totally different topic.
I happen to agree with your comment (except the rudeness of it) in that the narcos the spectators hear about are just well paid but temporary pawns and that the long term power and money stays with a few families in DF, TJ, Mazatlán and Culiacán, and of course Guadalajara. The few exceptions might be Mayo, el Azul and now his son Juan Jose? Were they smart enough to secure their money and freedom (relatively speaking). The truest test of this will be when we see what ultimately happens to Serafín Zambada Ortiz. I believe he will see freedom again just as Héctor Luis Palma and Caro Quintero have.
