Zetas: "El Cano" Killed in prison, 3 days after his arrest

Chivis Martinez for Borderland Beat

Tamaulipas Coordination Group (GCT) confirmed this afternoon that the death of José Luis Cano Lumbreras, 37,   (El Cano), was recorded,  inside the Sanctions Enforcement Center (CEDES) of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.

The GCT explained in a statement that the incident occurred shortly before 19:00 pm when the Cano was led to its module after attending a hearing. At that moment he was ambushed by a group of prisoners who, strangled him.

El Cano was Plaza Boss for Vieja Escuela Zetas, or old school Zetas.  He was arrested on Tuesday January 31st.

Please use this link for detailed background information on El Cano and his arrest,  in Otis' previous post.

  1. No public video? Aw shucks..

It must suck to be a CDZ going into a CDN prison, because they must not keep them segregated.. They're all Zetas to the warden and even not, it's not like they have enough troops on the inside to defend themselves.

    1. Depending on the facility, they sometimes do keep them segregated. Often its not at the behest of the warden, but rather the prisoners pay to have their own area/turf within the prison.

How do you know the Ciudad Victoria prison is CDN controlled? I'm not doubting you at all, just curious. Aren't there a lot of Golfos in that area?

Anyway, with his sudden arrest and quick death, sounds like a number of people wanted El Cano out.

    2. Since only 2% of Mexicans arrested (2 out of every 100) actually get sent to prison due to the outrageously corrupted judicial system, the fact that this ex-plaza boss got incarcerated and murdered so expediently indicates his bosses failed to pay off a judge and wanted him dead.

Prison justice sucks, politicians should be made responsible and suffer the same fate, just in case, like in this case where 'el cano' was renting from "the sister" of the SSP boss then "nobody will pay for this execution"

  5. It is against the law to get your prisoners murdered anywhere in the world, if a person's crimes are so big bad and egregions and they have confessed, at least during waterboarding and with the chicharra up the ass, the state should have the huevos and carry out their own death penalties, because, any of the pinchis pendejos cheering for the murder in prison, could be the next victim...

    2. 9:00 I am not saying he was an angelito, but the state should have the güevos to carry out death sentences and not leave it up to prisoners to murder anyone, of course, Viegidio Cantu is not the governor anymore, his sicarios had to have aligned themselves with the new governor before he even took over.

    3. Have you noticed the Mexican government apparatus as whole has no huevos or word for thst matter?

Their constitution dictates no death penalty as they knew from the moment it was being written them politicians and lawmakers too would be judged

  6. He finally met his fate. Now he can stand before God and appeal for graciousness for all he has done. Which I'm positive gracious deserves no merit here.

All smart and shit? you know there is a Creator but demons exist as well. We need to wake up to the reality of good and evil about us. And try do something about it. Warrior shit.

With so many false prophets and preachers , anything to make a buck and order. God is fixed upon greater things to be bothered by pity and misery of mankind. But can assure you that there is someone to answer to for your misdeeds.

  12. That's still sad y'all even if he was a ruthless zeta, it was another life and by the looks of it a young one you join for the fact of gaining wealth but die just as you come into this world with nothing he was a son, father, brother. I don't blame the men who killed him, but blame the corrupt government that hasn't taken control of it country. No-one innocent or not deserve to die for what once was a life lived in that game. And chapo should feel blessed and count his blessings of being in the hole administrative segregation because just like in Mexico here in America inmates are killed in prison to you just don't hear about it in the news.

  21. Most criminals think they are very smart while they are living high on someone else's hard earned money but they have a short life span cause they don't have anything to fall back on. They live a careless, free life. Criminals know they have nothing to look forward to, they only think about themselves and to hell with everything including their family. The only two things they can count on is eventually going to prison or going to the cemetery but what is even worst is going to prison, getting killed in prison and going to the cemetery. So go ahead and don't worry no one will miss you nor shed a tear.

    2. There should be a way to cover these lowly cockroaches, their crimes and thieir demises, but only the government does it. There is even a more urgent need to cover the big rats in power, in the federal and state government, municipal, police, military, secretariat and ministeries, they are the ones that own all the little criminals and often command their death squads, with all the impunity in the world.
There are some soldiers reading this blog, and pokicertainly officers, think, who would you elect to be your commander if you had the chance? I bet none of your actual commanders would be selected, for other than summary trials and executions...

  27. Life comes and goes too fast for some in Mexico and elsewhere unfortunately. If only people would reminisce and see that there is more to it than just wanting shit that other people have and not being able to obtain it by honest means in their minds. Never mind helping others. That comes after you can help yourself. In either case be happy with what you have and spend it well because there is only ONE real existence for the moment and that moment is all that matters!
