San Diego: 90 kilos of cocaine seized in traffic stop

90 kilos of cocaine seized in Oceanside

As the shadow of an election looms over us all, and a slight chill in the air, Thanksgiving a week away, a single man is arrested with nearly 90 kilos of cocaine, and 68 kilos of crystal in Oceanside, San Diego.  Oceanside and Vista are meth and heroin trafficking hubs, with many shipments arriving for retail distribution, as the cities spirals in meth addiction.  Shipments are also bound over for further points norther, runners using the city as base, screening the San Clemente checkpoint for warning signs.

Many federal cases begin at the checkpoint, as runners are detained, and large amounts of narcotics found hidden in their vehicles.  That is only the beginning.  They are debriefed, interrogated, and their case begins to wind through federal court, as those entrusted with millions in product, have to answer for their mistakes, and make good, or leave their live behind.   27 year old girls in nondescript rentals, marijuana smoke billowing out of their vehicle, with 27 kilos of cocaine in the trunk, soft spoken non citizens with millions in crystal hidden in trap compartments.

Ricardo Lujan, a 44 year old San Diego native is the latest.  Who is this man?  Who gave him this job?  How much was he paid?  These are questions few know the answers to.  But, many will want. Even fewer know the picture that Lujan can unravel.  Questions of wiretaps, secret indictments, confidential informants.  I'd think this shipment was traveling to LA, and was in transit, and I think someone knew, other then the participants.  Lujan may have been on his way to the checkpoint, as it is often closed in the early morning hours.

According to the complaint, and Oceanside Police officer was doing random vehicle registration checks at 12:40 am on Harbor Drive, in Oceanside.  Lujan was driving a Mitsubish Endeavor, with expired tags, and attempted to leave the area.  He was detained.  The officer stated he appeared nervous.  He consented to a search of the vehicle.  A canine detected the presence of narcotics.

The DEA and San Diego Narcotics Task Force agents arrived on scene and searched the vehicle, where they discovered the 90 kilos of cocaine, and 68 kilos of crystal.  It's the sequence that is interesting, and I don't think this press release is intended to mislead anyone, but reading between the lines, what begs the question is....rather then searching the vehicle for a few grams of heroin, a meth pipe, and a quarter ounce, whatever it may be, DEA agents were called in.

We may never hear of this case again, or months from now, an unsealed indictment will provide a framework for this arrest and seizure.  Eyes are on.  Phones will be seized, phones will be dropped, fallout will ensure.  People will blame this person, or that person.  Someone will need to make up the lost money.

That is millions of dollars in product, and someone had to make the call....'We lost them...They fell".

  1. Expired tags? Stupid you would think making sure the vehicle is legal tags current and insured would be a priority using it to move large amounts of drugs.

  3. Sorry but this is nothing but a regular loss. The runner caught got very little knowledge and cant tell much. The arrest is clearly documented so the one responsible for the load can explain it to his boss.

Nah this kind of bust only serves to give law enforcement a bit of positive media exposure to further someones career. Maybe it was even a deal between some operative in a clinch and a media hungry police captain ... like: I let you off this time but you get me something for the front pages.

    2. Aré you telling us that drug addiction is not to blame? I think Mexican drug dealers is just half of the problem. The other half of the problem is on you Americans.
What about the farmaceutical drug abuse? Who are you gonna blame for that one?

    8. Dipshit! u know where the meth tsunami rolling over us has its origin? In hick country and its log cabins and trailer parks. All the mexicans are doing is making it cheaper.

The american peoples demand for drugs AND the profit margin due to its illicit status is the REAL problem.

AND take note now high grade mj is flowing from north to south!

    9. The wall was a selling point for trump to get votes, but a wall would be a waste of money and time being that the cartels are making lighted tunnels with rail carts to cross drugs and illegals thru the borders.

Another point i'd like to make, in spite of all the billions of dollars mexican drug traffickers "make" they have never offshored any american jobs, much less whole american industries, and very important, we the mariguanos don't want to steal american jobs we just want to smoke our grifa, eat, sleep and be merry, hopefully sleeping with your sisters, while your all american chickenhawks rob your american treasury day and night...and traffick your and their drugs under the table and behind the courtains...

I once read that a quarter of the people with wealth in the entire world live in that state not to mention it is the countrys most populous state and this is all the drugs they capture here???
Come to Texas however and innparticular El Paso and you have to wait up to 3 hours sometimes when crossing our international bridges from cd Juarez just because of the inspections CBP makes checking people and vehicles. While it appears that the people in the San Diego sector can cross without so much scrutiny.

I used to cross the Tijuana/San Ysidro border on a daily basis and thete is times when security is almost non existence I seen the agent just wave car after car in with not even a single word being said and i have passed like that too where they just wave me in and i mean as a hand gesture of go ahead move on, i always told my self if one of the cars waved in had any drugs or immigrats they got soooo damn lucky. also saturdays and sundays early morning like 4 to 6 am before the sun come out is also a very easy crossing, most people are young drunk kids going back home after partying in TJ theres many drunkies that are too drunk to even talk to the agent and they just let them in, i personally knew a few guys that crossed back acting drunker than what they where since they had been deported

  11. @ 4:25am - Are you implying that this man is a Mexican Native? It clearly says in the article he is a San Diego Native. Which clearly means he is a US Citizen. Read the article before stereotyping. "Mexicans" are not responsible for every Hispanic or Latino that does this kind of crap. I don't believe Mexicans are the only ones involved in "coke and meth destroying our cities." I am more than 100% certain there are plenty of US Citizens involved in the distribution and sell of all of these narcotics. It can't all just be blamed on one race. Stop talking BS you racist bastard!

US CITIZENS

If I am slow about getting them posted at times it is usually because there are a couple of hundred comments and I have to read each one and often try to figure out what it is trying to say. Sometimes I have to go back to the story and read what it said that you are responding to. Sometimes I have to follow up on links that are included in a comment to make sure it is relevant and not some porn site. It takes a lot of time. Just have a little patience.

    4. @ 8;49 First off, we do not "micro-manage people", we try to manage comments they make.
Second, you do not have a "right" to have a comment published on BB, we give readers the "opportunity" to make comments SO long as they abide by the rules. Those rules are set out in the "Policy" page for which there is a link on the front page in the "Comments" box.

Buggs made those rules when he set up this site. We administrators try to enforce them. Many websites have eliminated their comments section because of all the trash that was posted in them and that it hurt their image and reputation. Borderland Beat has developed s good reputation over the years and earned a lot of respect and we believe that is partly because of our comment section. We monitor and moderate comments to maintain that good reputation.

So take the trouble to read the policy statement if you want to continue to post comments

  28. San Diego current prices are about 23 to 25 a K depending how many middle men get their share

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Is that based on just one, or large amounts?

      Delete
    2. San Diego is only a medium market for cocaine, no one is buying 90 kilos in San Diego to distribute solely in the city. Since AF lost control years and years ago, things have been very different. The market simply isn't that big, in theory a major distributor could purchase 100 kilos, and get that at a very low price, but there isn't the demand in the city itself. SD is a transit point mostly. The crystal and heroin are much bigger markets. A single kilo bought on the US side will run closer to 28 in SD. The price was 23, or 22 about 4-5 years ago. In LA, maybe a little lower, because bigger shipments are broken down there.

      Delete
    3. So how much would the 100 cost the disrupter?

    4. How much is a brick of stinky goat in sd currently?

      Delete
    5. @ 1:14, for example Serafin Zambada Ortiz pled guilty to attempting to purchase or conspiring to purchase 100 kilos in Culiacan, obviously using his name as credit/good faith, for people he knew (some who apparently gave him to the feds) who said they could move it. That product would be headed to LA, or another destination. Regardless, the price for 100 in Culiacan, obviously a lot of variables, but I'd put it between 14-17.

      Delete
    6. You can get it lower than 23k in SD and you don't have to buy in bulk.

Wouldnt it be common sense to wait??? And fuck it while your at it wait for a storm and follow the storm across country to wherever your going on the east coast. Probably close to no chance of getting pulled if you obey laws.. But seems like theres always someone snitching.mustve been cds lol
