Original article available at El Mexicano
Translated by El Wachito

An agent affiliated with the tourist police died and two others were wounded after engaging two armed men in la Zona Norte.

The confrontation started when the officers order a compact vehicle to stop in Coahuila street adjacent to Avenida Ninos heroes however, the gunman ignored the orders and opened fire on the officers.

Federal police who were patrolling the area joined the persecution after the attack which ended in Colonia Cienega located by Bulevar Manuel J. Clouthier and Vía Rápida Poniente.

Agent Luis Martinez Escobar was reported dead by the Isstecali hospital in El Mirador around 6:55 am.

The criminals were identified as Alberto José Martínez Jeovani and Ricardo Rivera Daniel Pulido. Alberto is reported as seriously injured. Both of them are 24 years old.  According to official investigations, both men had recently crossed the border from San Diego to Tijuana with the assault rifles.

    3. Anyone who pays the tax stamp and passes the ATF background investigation can legally obtain full auto rifles. Since these guys are likely mafiosos I doubt they went the legal route. It is not hard to convert semi auto rifles into full auto rifles if you know what you are doing. AK 47 and their clones are the easiest to convert compared to the AR-15 style rifles. In the drug trafficking game you use what you can get your hands on. Better to have a longer barrelled rifle than no rifle at all.

    3. In Nuevo Laredo and all over Trampalipass the military and juerza estatal always kills their "attackers" and dozens die in the ambush, and maybe one officer or two that fall to friendly fire because someone wants their pension, their paycheck and their wife.

    4. Yeah shit like this happens often people from the usa side do shit in the other side. I think it Wld be easier if you're prepared to shoot it out with Mexican cops local, federal or state, than with american law enforcement

      Delete
    5. This is vice versa in the Tamaulipas/Texas border. Mexican cartel members have been doing dirty shit (murder/kidnap) on U.S soil also it's no secret. One place I see a lot of criminal activity is Mission Tx. Any one from there knows I'm right. I'm from RGV, Tx currently working in San Diego I go to tj pretty often. @5:33 local cops don't shoot out with anyone federal and state yea, but what I see in Moros and Reyno that I DONT see in tj is the military convoys (army/marines) as well as cartel member convoys. I wouldn't change RGV for nothing San Diego is nice and all but being from valley is something else we just built different!!! No offense to SD people

  8. Truth is, cops on free for all, stopping everybody in Zona, they know you there for peda, sexo y lokera, so they assume people passing thru $$$! I got lucky I didn't get shaken down by cops 2 days ago, got stopped just because, made sure I stopped in front of witnesses. Didn't even get a chance to do my business, at least I left w all my cash intact.

    1. Pro tip: keep 200 pesos in your wallet and show that to the police. 200 pesos is good enough for anything..keep the rest of the cash hidden somewhere else

    6. 6:51 you said it yourself. You visited Tijuana countless of times during the last 20 years, however not everyone is used to dealing with the Mexican Police. Most of them rob Americans.. Mexican policeman abuse and rob tourist's.. especially if they see a fat wallet full of American Dollars.. please try to more sympathetic to other people. 6:51

    7. My brother and sister live in Tijuana, they move there from San Diego in 2000 to save more money, I text to them asking them how many times they have paid bribes to the police and they said never. To me is ridiculous to see people here always complaining about bribes and police looking at people from USA like money cows, and others telling them how to keep cash on their wallets. To me the best advise will be to act accordingly and civilized to avoid becoming a target.

As far as I can remember the only time I paid a bribe in Mexico was when I was driving with out a license and I paid the cop for him to let me go. And that was when I was 18 years old. I'm 43 now.

    8. 6:56 you have been lucky, hundreds of thousands of other mexicans, a few students and thousands of SouthAmericans did not live to sing the praises of having been in mexico, there are a few tourists from the US, and other countries too, most of them were not narcos or narcos murders, but the mexican police, specially state and federal police, many with military background are real famous for their crimes de lesa humanidad and massacres, even the UN is bitching about it now...

    9. Being shaken down by TJ police hasn't happened to me, but I have multiple friends from San Diego that it has happened to. You need to understand the streets and the way of life in Mex. Use your head, keep your eyes open and you should be fine. But hey, you never know when shit might be just around the corner. Make sure you understand the safer tourist areas of TJ, and don't go exploring places that you really don't belong in. TJ can be great if you don't act a fool. Mover la medicina en SD?

  10. What a bunch of loosers doing business, two assault rifles, and ammo up the ass with scopes in shit, and they only took out one cop? And what happens when you get hit, just wait patient for the federales to come get you? Its going to be worse if they catch you alive. In my opinion.
