Pulido Kidnapping: There were ransom demands, the soccer player was his own hero

Lucio R. Borderland Beat

Above Pulido takes to his Twitter account thanking everyone for prayers and the authorities for their assistance. Scroll down for previous posts on this story.

In the past 24 hours, rumors spread on social media and mainstream news networks alike about the Alan Pulido abduction in Cd. Victoria Tamaulipas. Rumors were quick to blame Ileana Salas, Pulido’s girlfriend’s past relationship with a member of Cartel del Golfo. A rumor that was diminished, when no one ever provided a name of the ominous CDG member.

The girlfriend, Ileana Salas, 23, from Cd. Victoria, now lives and works in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, as a psychotherapist.

It was Grillonautas blog, that first reported a ransom demand, early yesterday, no mainstream outlets published that aspect of the story. It was also social media and blogs that first offered the account that now is being widely reported as fact.

And the authorities can repeat a million times how successful the “operation” was to rescue Piludo, but the fact is they had nothing to do with the rescue.

About midnight, a full day after his abduction, Pulido found himself alone with only one of his captors. The physically fit athlete, was quick to seize on the opportunity. He jumped on the man, wrestled away the captors handgun and cell phone and called the emergency line, 066 for help.

But, he did not know where he was being held. So while the emergency operator was on the line, on a call to the emergency center, he demanded, threatened, and then beat his captor to access information on their location. There were three calls.

On the first, after overpowering the captor he was able to look out the window and described the two story structure and said there were two vehicles parked in front, one gray and one red. The captor was now unconscious.

There was a second call, that is the one where Tamaulipas State Police said they were in front of the home, but to be sure they actually asked Pulido to fire the gun, he told them he had no bullets. The police began shooting, Having the clear mind to not take the word of men, even police, saying they were there to save him, he made another call to the emergency center asking/confirming if the police were in fact trustworthy.

Once police arrived, he made a third call to confirm with the operator that they were trustworthy and there on his behalf. Piludo confirmed to Imagen Radio the facts, and said the injured hand occurred when he broke a window. The Piludo family received two ransom demands, both early afternoon on Sunday.

The suspect was from Veracruz.

  9. I can't believe among the social media chatter you don't mention the most prominent thing talked about: That the whole kidnapping was a faked PRI election stunt.

    1. Not saying it wasn't but if it was wouldn't there have been a big show of dudes in armour with weapons intercepting the kidnappers, because even if this rouse is the government's doing there's no credit anywhere in this for them.

  10. I really do not believe he escaped. Noone escapes the cartels kidnapping. He was let go because of all the heat they were taking IMO

    1. Think ABC SONORA, no cartel did the dirty deed, it was just a team of governor Eduardo Bours' "plumbers" burning his fake accounting papers, probably counseled by manlio fabio beltrones, "la fabis" he owns sonora, sinaloa, the BCs, monterrey, chihuahua, veracruz, and anywhere casinos priistas and narcos hang...sonora is his home state...

  11. Anyone have any real info on this being a PR stunt by the governing PRI party, in order to garner votes and support?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Why would it support the any party. He got away and made the call on his own. If it was a setup he would have said he had no part in the rescue and the government did it. I can see the government tried to hijack the rescue by making it look like they found him, but that is Mexico. They also hide the bad things here when they do not work out so well.

  16. Why do Mexicans hate the government so much that they are willing to believe stupid conspiracy theories about all this being staged PR for votes?

In a country where crazy things like this happen every day, I find the story more believable than some PRI conspiracy.

I tell you Mexicans hate their government and presidents so much. When Calderon was in office everybody hated him and his party, now everyone hates EPN and his party..Mexicans are seriously disenfranchised and paranoid people if they think this was a PRI stunt.

    1. 4:04 mexicans have been bled by the mexican government so much, murdered by the government's cartels and soldiers marinas and polesias so much, that we all believe 100% that more than 90% of crime in mexico is due to 100% of its politicians because they are criminals worse than their cartels...
--You can carry a torch for the mexican government all you want in your short short shorts, and suck a thumb from your other hand...I guess...

  17. Finally 11:40 states the obvious,. IF it were a set up, the gob would have been allowed to stage a hero rescue by state police.

the only set up is the gob trying to take credit.

But they are not being allowed to do so.

I think this is an important story for many reasons, but the fact he had to call 060 to verify they were there to rescue him and not kill him ...is a huge point overlooked by sloppy readers hell bent on social media rumors.

No way would the call been made public in a scripted rescue. Nor would they allow Piludo to free himself, attacking his captor and surfacing as a hero in a scripted event.

Tamps gob look really bad, they immediately took credit, before facts came out and Piludo's interview. But then, even the foriegn press began reporting that the truth was far from what the state tried to claim at first.
