'Mexico Leaks' releases video of a detained man being tortured

by Lucio R. Borderland Beat

A video containing footage of torture by police was sent to media outlets, Animal politico, Proceso, and Aristegui Noticias.

The video was anonymously submitted to the three Mexican media sources, all three belonging to the group “Mexico Leaks” created to expose corruption, organized crime and violations of human rights.

The footage shows a man identified as a chief officer of the attorney generals office of the state of Mexico, repeatedly suffocating Silverio Rodriguez Martinez, by using a plastic bag over his head.

This is not an uncommon practice. It has long been charged, proven by evidence, that authorities, from all agencies, state and federal use torture to gain “confessions”.

In this video, there are six officers in the room, including one seen videotaping the torture.

The detainee was arrested on suspicion of being a member of organized crime.

The officer directing the torture was Pedro Velazco Estrada, who worked in the state of Mexico’s Attorney General’s office special operations divisions from 2009 to 2015, when he was promoted to the federal Attorney General’s office.

  2. That's not really torture.
It's psychologically hurtful but not physically damaging if done right!
Psychology to get his tongue wagging!
All the narco supporters will be crying now!

    2. You might want to re-think that buckaroo. According to the U.N.: torture is the intentional infliction of severe mental or physical pain or suffering by or with the consent of the state authorities for a specific purpose.

Ehh its a effective method, why do you think Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib were built for. I support the death sentence in Mexico as long as the current politicos get first dibs on the spiffy new needles and Doc M personally euthanizes Castillo

    2. Christy, the death penalty is being used in mexico, on the poor, on protesters, on reporters, on ayotzinapos...oh, sorry the ayotzinapos have only been abducted and kidnapped, I mean disappeared, maybe they will appear some day as shrimp when the sea pukes them back on the shore, the mexican governme t has been dropping people on the sea like the best of the best, colombia, chile, argentina, uruguay, paraguay, since the 60's, dead, alive. drugged, no problem, just make sure they sink...

  14. The same tactic is used here in the U.S. where all officers gather around the perp to cover any abuse from cameras. The problem here was that the guy with the plastic bag was too eager to get a confession an didn't wait for the human screen.T he plastic bag is just the begining then it comes the Agua mineral con sal en la nariz, la toalla mojada(water boarding), isolation with intense lights, loud music, etc. A confession will come out with a lot of other information. It's worth it and necessary. What these sicarios and kidnappers do to their victims is a lot worse.

  17. In the next 5 years all those guys doing the torturing will be dead. 90% of people killed in Mexico are not innocent.
