182 lbs of cocaine found on tour bus traveling from T.J to L.A. County

Members of a federal task force found 182 pounds of cocaine hidden inside a charter bus that traveled from Mexico to Wilmington, California authorities said Tuesday.

There were no passengers on the bus when the bust – conducted by the Department of Justice’s L.A. IMPACT task force – took place.

The drugs were found about 9 a.m. at an auto body shop after investigators tailed the bus from the San Ysidro border crossing about 4 a.m., said task force deputy director Carlos Mendoza.

The 83 kilos of cocaine were encased in foil in a 15-foot long hidden compartment above the left rear tire, blocked by the bus’ radiator, Mendoza said. The drugs went undetected during a sweep by border officers, he said.

Authorities believe the drug shipment is connected to Mexican cartels because of its size and the relative sophistication involved in hiding it, Mendoza said. It had an estimated wholesale value of $2.1 million and street value of $10 million, the DOJ said.

Police arrested Victor Fainz Miranda, Jaime Jimenez and Humberto Vazquez when they searched the business.

The DOJ’s IMPACT team made headlines last week when they arrested five men in a Hooters parking lot in Ontario after they allegedly tried to sell 53 pounds of methamphetamine. The men were allegedly linked to the Sinaloa cartel.

  1. They only went undetected, because they probably wanted to take them at the destination.

  3. What's wrong with this story? ...they say the drugs were not detected during a border sweep, yet they followed the bus from the San Ysidro border. They don't usually follow buses unless they have a reason. They either already knew drugs were on board or they detected the drugs at the border and wanted to get all the perps involved. Either way it was good work... a few more scumbags off the streets... and they have a nice bus to sell.. the proceeds of crime.

    1. This is probably an investigation going back months if not years, and their investigation showed this bus being "suited up". Or a good CI gave them the heads up. They didn't bust this cause of good police work. It's always a snitch, or CI, braking the case wide open.

    2. A bus like this one goes on a scanner so they wrap the drugs on some metal plastic bag to lie to the scanner and wala. That's probably why it wasn't detected.

      Delete
    3. you can't just wrap the stuff in some sheet metal and wala its not seen. you don't know about them scanners they see the density of the metals also so the drugs would be seen in a scanner with some sheet metal wrapped around it because the density will be all messed up

    2. That cartel only wanted to be accepted, then they decided they want EVERYTHING, AND most of all to live a Versaillesque way of life at the expense of the public treasury, like epn, or Benjamin Medrano, the former presidente municipal now wants to make laws that silence the mexican people and put them in prison for badmouthing "el presidente" epn or congress...

  9. I live in Long Beach, which is about 10 minutes east of Wilmas... Crazy shit. The current demand for methamphetamine in the southwest U.S. right now must dwarf heroin demand in the northeast in the 70's. There has to be more speedfreaks in Southern Cali today than there ever was crackheads in the 80's. I can walk into the alley behind my apartment and score meth much easier, faster, and cheaper than I ever could some weed...

    4. why the personal attack willis @ 4:53AM. just state your case.

what was stated is that as reported here cjng began the move into the tj border a year ago, and created an alliance with caf to gain access to the plaza route into southern californa. cjng had not operated in the united states because of Sinaloa heavy presence, mencho held back, too much work for a sliver of the pie. he waited until he gained strength in organizational structure, and strong in plaza control, in other regions. with those accomplishments and gaining massive assets, and a very weak caf, he made his move, and began his trafficking into the united states west coast.

of course they are solo in the trafficking, what d you think they will assist caf? the agreement was not about that, caf would be a liability not an asset. so smart guy, what exactly do you think the agreement was about? what did caf get? If you have been paying attention you should know.

the one part of your comment I agree with is that absolutely mencho will turn on caf in a clash for control.

  20. Can one of you (bloggers, moderators, etc) look into the helicopter just that happened in Chino California a few days back (it happened friday night May 27th around 8-10 pm. Helicopter came from Mexico and flew over an air force base. It was told to land but did not return come so was tailed by several counties air support. Finally whilst San Bernardino was tailing it did a military landing (officers words) for less than 30 seconds by or at Chino airport on Merril and Euclid Ave. Where an suv was waiting. The helicopter and pilot got away after crossing the border, but the SUV stopped at Carl's/Green Burrito where the helicopters, SB Sheriff, Chino pd, immigration, and the FBI surrounded and arrested them inside the fast food place. It lasted hours. Everyone thought Carl's was robbed but the police come to my job regularly for bathroom, coffee. Etc, and one I am friendly with told me what happened and that the feds took over. I can't find a single article...but idk how to research this stuff. The officer himself told me that the pilot had to have been military and that the men were obviously up to no good and that a few had 1000s of $ in cash....very weird especially after the Ontario bust

    1. So you're saying the helicopter crossed the border flew over military air space (probably March AFB) landed in a municipal airport and flew back over the border without being intercepted by US military?? That sounds rediculous and made up. I know these areas btw.

  21. Lmfao, at all these people who don't even know what's going on. Other then saying mumbo jumbo. There's more independents now. Just cause a big shipment like that was confiscating dosent mean it belongs to a big group. And if it is its CDS property. Like i be said many and olent of times CDS runs majority of it'd method through Cali. Majority of it is broken down in 661, 559, 209. All of central Cali. Funny how I never see all of these paisas here in central Cali getting caught up with 50lbs plus. Or like a few years a ago a small town call Dinuba there was over 100lbs of meth found. But you don't see any of that on these site. Dig your noses deeper in reality not all these blogs you may find the real truth your looking for. Atte ElGhostPerdido

    1. Back in 2010 there was a meth of 600lbs in gilroy California. All the guys that got busted where from sinaloa. Alot of "paisas" are hardworking people. The "paisas" who are in the drug game usually lay low and sell their stuff make a profit and the guys who bought it sell it and usually get caught.

I knew about guy from guerrero who was pushing alot weight in salinas ca. He was a low key and was never flashy about it. You right about alot of guys being independent and not belonging to a cartel.

    5. Fresno, Madera, Modesto, San Jose, Santa Rosa are big hubs. DOJ do not get those guys because then loads and money confiscated in So Cal diminish due to lack of buyers. If you keep those up north working there will always be shipments moving up 101\5/99. Therefore, continuous opportunity of money for law enforcement. Common sense.

  26. At that price it would be 25300 at wholesale value. And over a 100K (street value) it seems like every bust quotes a different value. And I mean south Cali bust obvious bust in the north east or Midwest etc would be much higher. But I'm referring to the bust in southern cali. I was under the impression it was around 20K. Does anybody really know what it's really worth? With all the legal weed that has to have already taken a giant chunk of cartel profits and will only take more and more as more states legalize and more people demand high quality as states with lax laws export surplus product. It will be interesting how the drug gangs offset the revenue loss will the prices of other drugs go up and up seeing as coke has already skyrocket from 10 Years ago. Will they lower the prices of other drugs to attract more people and make more in long run or keep prices high? I've heard of many people switching or staying crystal meth use instead of coke because more bang for buck and that coke is really expensive as is so many would be coke users are on crystal which seems like in long run since messes people up so bad that they will be completely burnt out in short time that they would make more have less messed up long term customers that can maintain relatively speaking much longer than meth tweaker s . So anyhow can someone in law enforcement or someone in the know say what the actual current price per K of coke is in southern cali. Want to track over next couple years and see what they do to offset weed looses if they go higher and higher to turn more and more and newcomers to meth and burn out
There customers or if lower coke price to attract new users .

  29. Umm something seems off how is the wholesale value 2.1 million, and the retail is 10. If my math is right that would mean a K is like 20K and worth 140K retail? Always thought from what have seen on here that white was like 30K? Kind of have a bet with my buddy about prices he's a officer in NY and says that people from there come to Cali and get for 18K. Is he correct or is it closer to 30?

  31. always a Twist to the story. In regards to the drug bust in ontario my understanding is there's only 42 bags so why would someone put more than 1lb per bag? Maybe because over 20 kilos which is approximately around 46 lbs would give them a other charge for the amount of the drug and that's a additional 15 years. in prison.
