Tamaulipas: Mexican Navy Takes Down 7 Alleged Criminals

Translated by Valor for Borderland Beat

Members of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) took down seven alleged members of a criminal group operating in the region of Ribereña, in the state of Tamaulipas.

In a statement, the Tamaulipas Coordination Group (GCT) reported that on March 19th, in the municipality of Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, members of SEMAR were attacked by gunmen, and in repelling the attack, they took down seven of them.

According to the GCT, the attack occurred at kilometer 15 of the highway Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, Tamaulipas, on the border with the municipality of Parás, Nuevo León, where the marines were carrying out ground reconnaissance.

Upon arriving at the location, they were suddenly attacked by armed individuals who were traveling in several vehicles, they then proceeded to repel the attack in defense of their lives.

In a breach that is located about three kilometers from the starting point of the attack, the bodies of the seven attackers were left; two were identified as Miguel Ángel López Zárate, originally from Sinaloa, and José Luis Luna Garza, a native of Parás, Nuevo León.

The rest escaped into the mountains, abandoning several weapons, supplied with their magazines, as well as other objects, according to the statement of the GCT.

    2. We don't have to be tourists in any country that sponsors state terrorism and refuses to release their own doctored reports of the murdering genocide conducted by its own death squads.

--The narcos know they are not a match to the soldiers or marinas and they surrender to them at the first opportunity if given a chance...
--the marinas are not giving them a chance because they have orders to kill, and their victims are safely planted there for them, that is what it looks like, they are taking no prisoners.

    1. @9:02. I appreciate you trying to do our job for us. I saw the SA News story the day it was published and when I read the first sentence I knew it was not something we wanted to publish.
      .
If you want to do our job you have to learn the rules and policy first.

The San Antonio News is a good newspaper and if they want to accept El Blog del Narco as a source, that is their decision. Borderland Beat does not accept BDN as a credible source.

The first sentence of the San Antonio News story says:
"Photos published by the Mexican outlet El Blog del Narco give an inside look at the hitmen working for the Gulf Cartel." That is the whole story.

BDN is known to have taken photos from an archive or another story and use them in a "current" story. They have been know to make up stories. they have been known to steal material from other sites (including BB), so we don't print material from their site.

  15. The whole world goes mad (& rightly so) over the tragic bombings of innocents recentlyin Europe, but Tamaulipas & all over Mx the innocents keep getting caught up in the indiscriminate crossfire in these death zones and also living risking being targeted by anyone with a gun. Harsh. Mx marinas clearly don't f*ck around when it comes to doing what has to be done. You would think sicarios might try a more discreet way if they are near military zones. And rather than having all these fights with military, Mx people aren't stupid, they know we all play a part and need to get people away from pointless criminality before things reach this level of madness. How many more people families of those killed, children, youngsters, women, police, soldiers, even narcos themselves, how many more are going to have to die before society changes it's whole makeup concerning this way of existence? Something could be done. Stronger leadership and and fairer distribution of wealth and providing social structures for the disenfranchised would help. And since when do cartels make money by sending youngsters to die in a hail of marina bullets? Too many chiefs & not enough Indians.
