El Chapo will be extradited to the USA when recaptured

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Milenio article

[ Subject Matter: El Chapo, extradition
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required]

The president of the Bicameral (twin house) Commission, Adriana Gomez, said that they had known that since June 2012 the movement sensors at Altiplano had stopped working.

Reporter: Milenio Digital
The extradition process against Joaquin Guzman Loera "El Chapo", has already started, for when he is recaptured he will be immediately extradited to the United States, said Adriana Gonzalez, president of the Bicameral Commission.

"Yes I have personally asked Miguel Angel Osorio chong about the extradition of El Chapo, and he said that the process was started and will continue with the re capture of the criminal, she said in an interview with Ciro Gomez Leyva, for Grupo Formula.

He said that after an investigation they made, they found out that since June of 2012 the motion sensors had malfunctioned.

I asked explicitly when they had malfunctioned, these sensors that detect whichever movement in the cell block. They said to me that in april of 2012 they had started to play up, and in June stopped working altogether.

In an interview with Milenio television, the Senator Fernando Yunes after his meeting yesterday with the Secretary of the Republic, Miguel Angel Osorio Chongo, and the Attorney General Arely Gomez, and the Commissioner, Monte Alejandro Rubio, it was very exhaustive.

The official was very exhaustive and it served to resolve some doubts about what happened on Saturday. The idea stays with me that there has been complicity, but we cannot yet say to what level.

  2. I think the 1 and a half years he was in prison was just a show, I have a feeling he made some sort of deal with the government, to be "imprisoned" for a while to make it seem like the govt are actually trying to lock him up, to combat all the rumors of the govt working with him. Then they let him escape through the tunnel they probably created years ago, since NO ONE in the area saw any type of excavation going on at that ranch he popped up at. And wheres the dozens of truck loads worth of dirt that wouldve been left behind?

99% sure he will never be arrested again.

    1. Dozens of truck loads? The hole looks like that it is 2 cubic meters high times 1500 = 3000 cubic meters plus 30% expansion when it is out of the ground. ten wheelers' in mexico hold about ten cubic yards. About 350 truck loads. I think it is a plausible conclusion. Also They would have to start from the bathroom, or have inside info foe engineering purposes.

    2. Coul`d his lock up also played some other rolles (besides the gov. looking good)?
Par example; Is it possible that Chapo snitched on rival cartels to decimate their power? Is it possible that he wanted "old" drugstrutures to fall apart and let "new" structures to form (it seems like CJNG has grown much stronger during Chapos imprisonment)?

      Delete
    3. The dirt that was excavated was sold. Thats how construction works. And regardless of his size El Chapo was smart no matter how u look at it.

      Delete
    4. This sounds like the way they had it planned out. Pretend to catch him the tunnel was made way before and then release him

      Delete
    5. Uhmm ok? You do know that ALL around the prison they have been excavating for the last year, putting in new piping for drainage i beleive. I do agree with you that this was a show, but as for all the dirt that you say hasnt been moved theres been dumptrucks movinf dirt in and out all around the prison within the last year.

    6. Honestly i thought the same thing. I mean come on he was captured in a resort without any men. Its all bullshit

    7. El Chapo didn't allow himself to be captured or make any kind of deal with the government to allow him to be imprisoned for any length of time. Just look at the way they humilated him when he was captured, theres no way a man of his arrogance would allow himslef to be paraded in front of cameras being treated like a dog on a chain. IMO, he became to well known and the public face for the war on drugs. Just like Pablo he became too big for his britches. I do believe he had inside help escaping but it didn't rise to the level of EPN. Chapo was EPN's greatest triumph in the war against the cartels and now has become his greatest embarrassment. El Chapo's escape will mean more instability and more needless deaths in their efforts to recapture him. It's the last thing EPN wanted, the rest of Mexico is a different story. I'm sure many people throughout Mexico were happy to hear of his escape.

  8. This cannot be accurate. There is a process, it must be presented to a provisional judge to determine if there is enough evidence for the provisional trial to proceed. this process takes 6 months. the entire process with appeals etc is 1-3 years.

As of Friday the formal request had not even been presented to a judge.

  11. “If” Chapo is recaptured and he is extradited to the USA I can assure you that Miguel Angel Osorio Chong or anyone responsible for his extradition will be assassinated. I will also predict that if he is extradited that all kinds of violence against the Mexican Government on all levels will break out like nothing ever seen before. There will be a lot of blood in the streets and chaos will take hold for a while. This will be the greatest political disaster in Mexico’s history.

If Chapo is sent to the USA, there will also be retaliation on the US side like never before. I predict Chapos men will start systematically killing people and causing problems just as a show of respect for Chapo as well as it will turn into an anti government movement and be hijacked by others who have needed a reason to riot and cause trouble. It won’t be good at all!

We had better hope that Chapo simply remains hidden deep inside the sierra of Durango and fades into folklore history never to be captured or killed but dies of old age happy in his sleep. After all even killing him will not stop the flow of drugs or the work of his empire.

  25. a big problem in Mexico, in general, is crappy maintenance. there is little or no payoff in maintenance, only in building. when one government builds something, the following governments let them rot and instead build new stuff. everything, everywhere deteriorates. everything rots in Mexico. nothing is taken care of because there are no kickbacks and payoffs with mainteance.

for example, in the area around nuevo vallarta the past president of the municipio "rata" cervantes stole concrete, rebar and many other materials, along with ayuntamiento labor to build private property, ranchos and roads for himself. he did this with tax money and fraudulent loans, and by not paying bills for material charged to providers. all of the public works in the municipio were undercut with kickbacks and roads and other works were left incomplete or broke down soon after the work.

SO, if the security system in the prison broke down it would not be fixed because there would be no money... all the money would have been plundered under other uses, mostly capital improvements or equipment like buying a fleet of vehicles. government vehicles remain on station because officials and workers steal the gasoline. cops can't patrol because their tanks are empty.

then there is the problem of initiative. with an authoriatarian approach to everything in mexico the drive to do anything comes from externals, from above. it no one says, "fix the cameras", the lazy guards or workers will sit on their asses and say nothing... waiting for some jefe to tell them what to do. but since the jefes are all looking for ways to rob the system there is no initiative to fix anything. Mexicans are famous for their apathy.

Mexico is following the path of the fucked up countries of Africa.

Any ideology that threatens Americas capitalist system and its 1%! Drug trafficking does not threaten the Capitalist system and in reality is a part of it! It keeps the millions of underclass employed and drug stupid and stimulates the greater economy. 34. If there is a person out there that did not expect this decision to come down the pike, you should have. This is his punishment. Also the decision the US will not be helping will go out the door as well. It will take a bit, but he will be caught or killed. His escape wasn.t the great escape the media made it out to be. Any prisoner can escape if everyone turns a blind eye and allow you to do it. When you have weak security guards being threatened they will give you what you want. The US will be different. He will not have access to his money as it is considered financial gain through crimes. He will have to be appointed an attorney because his assets will not be available. This will prevent any outside contact with his cartel. Stay hiding, no chance to weasel your way out if sent to the US. Especially since it is known that is all he does is plot escaping. Mexico let this happen. It is so obvious many was involved. Everyone cheering like it was a one man plan. Whatever! Half of those cheering will be the victims next month. Just stupid.
