Confrontation in Tamaulipas leaves at least 25 dead

Translated for Borderland Beat from a Proceso article by O.B.F-W

Nuevo Laredo, Tamps

This past Thursday the 26th of March, hours after the Army had decommissioned (incinerated) 6 tonnes of Marijuana that they discovered in buried in clandestine graves at diverse points on the frontier Chica, a series of clashes were raised throughout the region, particularly in the town of Camargo, where there has been the loss of at least 25 lives according to the State Government.

This last incident until now has not been reported, nothing was recorded in the gal era del Ejido Nueveo Cadillo. The eighth Military zone was limited to only report the arrest of alleged gunmen and securing an arsenal of drugs, money and armoured trucks.

In the 25th of March the State Delegation of the Prosecutor General of the Repulic (PGR) started five investigations which led to the confiscation of more than 6 tonnes of Marijuana in the towns of Miguel Aleman, Camargo, Ciudad Mier and Gustavo Diaz Ordaz.

One of the confiscations occurred in La Ribera de Rio Bravo, in the village of Los Guerra, one more confiscation took place in 3 clandestine graves located in and around Ejido Camargo. The rest of the drugs were discovered on the shores of the Rio Bravo in Ciudad Mier and in the Ejido Miguel Hidalgo of the town of Ciudad de Gustavo Diaz Ordaz.

In the hours that followed the discoveries, commenced a series of confrontations in Miguel Aleman, Camargo, and Ciudad Mier , which were confirmed by an agent of PGR who wished to remain anonymous.

According to said person, this past Thursday the Boss of Plaza of Camargo, "El Commander Beto", of the Cartel del Golfo, who replaced "Commandante Panochitas who was detained by the DEA in October of 2014, convened a reunion of his sicarios and halcones in el ejido de Nuevo Cadillo.

From his arrival at Camargo, "El Commander Beto" started to impose his authority in a bloody manner, including killing his bodyguards, hitmen and halcones that didn't carry out his orders, added the source.

He also mentioned that in the afternoon of the past Thursday, that 27 hit men and halcones, where "El Commander Beto" informed those present that there would be changes in the organisation that controls the plaza.

When they arrived they were all together in six armored trucks with gun ports. A woman who was wounded and hours later the Army took the town of Camargo, said the source.

Yesterday the PGR released three communications, in the first they reported that "elements of the Mexican Army confiscated in the immediate vicinity of ejido Nuevo Cadillo, town of Camargo, Tamaulipas, 23 rifles, three grenades, 6513 rounds of ammunition and 295 magazines for different calibre's, 11 packets of marijuana, with a brick of 97 kilos.

These items were located on a water tank buried in that location, said a statement from the Tamaulipas delegation of the PGR.

In the second communication, they reported they had confiscated 10 rifles, 28 grenades, a grenade launcher, and other dangerous items.

When land patrols in Ciudad Camargo, Tamaulipas of the Mexican Army arrived in support of the State Public Security agents, they located a Ford Lobo with double cabin and Tamaulipas licence plates which had been abandoned.

The Army searched the abandoned vehicle, and found that it was armoured, and inside they found seven assault rifles of 7.62 x 39 calibre( otis probably Ak47 ), two rifles of 5.56 x 45 calibre (otis probably AR15 variants) a .50 calibre rifle ( otis probably a Barrett), 14 frag hand grenades, 14 40mm grenades for a grenade launcher, a 40mm grenade launcher, a rocket launcher armed with a 85mm rocket, and eight 85mm rocket reloads ( otis sounds like a SMAW)

Also the Army decommissioned 9 rocket reloads for the rocket launcher, and more than 6500 rounds of ammunition of different calibre's.

In the third communication, the State Delegation reported the detention of 11 individuals, for violation of the Federal Law of Firearms and Explosives.

These people, were put at the disposition of the SEDENA in Reynosa Tamaulipas

The statement continues: Informative Military personnel reported that when ground forces surveyed the Reynosa - Nuevo Laredo highway, they heard gun fire and placed the origin of the confrontation, at the outskirts of the village called Puertecitos, Town of Camargo, Tamaulipas, elements of the Army observed two moving vehicles, when armed civilians sustained a gun battle with people that they came across in a Galera.

Once the Army came to the Galera, they observed that several people ran in different directions, going through vegetation of the place, plots and homes, carrying rifles, so they implemented a safety plan to stop them.

After the Military ceased fire, they arrested 11 people, some were wounded and were taken for medical attention. The 8th Military Zone released no information on the previous slaughter perpetrated by the Gulf Cartel Gunmen who were detained.

25 dead, 11 arrested, that is a good hit, who is doing what and for who, or are they just cleaning plazas???....CDG has too many pendejos as comandantes, the Z tetas ruined the whole thing for the cdg, cartel de gulfo was better off when those butchers didn't exist....seems like they are leaving all tamaulipas plazas free to the other dogs....the voltures with boots and sombreros from the west.

  5. Honestly I think Tamaulipas has always been more dangerous than ciudad juarez (in my opinion) Ciudad juarez isnt bad how people think... Tamaulipas has had massacres up to more than 100 people and the most Juarez had was a little more than 20 people

    1. The important thing is, there should never have been even 1. Any Government that is complicit in mass slaughter of its own civilians cannot be trusted under any circumstances.
Only the Mexican people can change that, if foreign Governments could have done something to change it they would have, as long as it didn't hurt business.
Until there is a useful alternative to the existing choices, not much will change, when you vote in one party or the other, in reality all that's changing is the Board of Directors. The company , the system remains the same.
It will only ever change if Mexico can change its system of Government, and only the people have an interest in that. The existing parties are very happy with the existing situation.

    2. OBFW - Le diste el clavo en la cabeza. As long as the violence is distant and can be blamed on inter or intra cartel activity and the cartel money flows around town most people are content. True the gobierno offers little but everyone knows there is no difference between the cartel and the gobierno. The smarter folk don't get involved directly but benefit from the flow indirectly. Without that there is little to be had in many areas. If they would leave the people alone, stop collecting and kidnapping they could have 100% support of the people.

    3. Let me tell you sompim', the cartels do not fight with the mexican army or navy, and usually run from the police...
--this stinks to high heavens and fits Tlatlaya and Ayotzinapaexcept for some minor differences like no disappearances and no mayor and wife involvement...
--Profirio diaz christened the 'melitary' tactic as ''kill'em while they are hot'' and buffalo bill perfected the corralling buffaloes by practicing on indians...
--In cd juarez the common denominator was women, kidnapped, raped, and murdered, by military and federal and state police for the most part, no compare, compare! See the patterns...

    5. Juarez Fool,.. What do you know about Tamaulipas....? What about all the women missing in Juarez yet murder after murder of these poor women goes unsolved day after day. Have you heard of Mr. LeBaron... Look him up and his family for crying outloud they are Mormons... I am catholic,.. Yet have Mormon friends and they just dont hurt no one..... If you have netflix,.. Watch NARCO COLTURA,... And EL INFIERNO,.. Narco Coltura is a documantary and i recomend you see it,... El Infierno also in netflix is a movie but VERY VERY TRUTHFUL, PLAUSIBLE, ......the numbers ......72 san fernando, 20 here 20 there so as long as they are bad guys who cares if they die thats just one less sicario that has to be processed,.. I cant say that Juarez or Chihuahua is worst or as bad as Tamaulipas,.. But what i do say is that it is bad every where even in small town el leoncito, villa hidalgo, san luis potosi.... That brings saddness and frustration to myself and my parents that are afraid to go there.... Twenty years ago unheard of drug sales no one dared to smoke pot nonethe less do cocaine.... Now its every where.... Sad but true... El infierno a movie but very true........ Juarez you sir do not know what you talking about... I know just your opinion... Here we need facts and answers not opinions and questions.... Thanks for letting me vent.... I plan to retire in el leoncito, villa hidalgo, san luis potosi,.. On my parents property,.. And go out like Mr. Alejo.... If need be..and yes i am American Born first generation...... Served in Army and continue to serve...... Remember a dead sicario is one less sicario to process...

    6. Foreign governments could have gotten involved...and got...
Compadre governor of sister states Texas and Tamaulipas, with constant "airplane lifts" to Texas ranches, left the tamalepecos much too infatuated with the tablescraps and left over money from drug trafficking, too late for government interventions of the right kind...
-- i mean, foreign governments have been involved, their presence and involvement from start to end can not be discounted, nor the consequences...there is even archeological, genetic and geographical finds coupled with the anthropological...
-- the Japanese invaded Peru thousands of years before the US was invented...

    9. In 2010 they were 3000 plus murders in Juárez 5000 plus in the whole state of Chihuahua and thatim only the ones the media and police agencies reported. Narcofosas in Chihuahua go back to the senor de lost cielos era so imagine how many more disappeared. Tamaulipas is reporting 800 murders last year that's not even close.

  6. I don't think tamaulipas is more dangerous than cd. Juarez they didn't call it little Iraq for nothing if any thing there was more murders in Juarez than they were in the war against Iraq in a week you had about 50 Killings in Juarez that's not including the weekend people's body being thrown in different parts of the city like a puzzle with all do respect I think cd.Juarez number 1 in killings of narcotics wars.

  8. The diference between juarez and other places in Mexico is that other places like Guerrero, tamaulipas, durango and other states has a lot of people disappeared in clandestine graves by the dozens and cd juares used to openly shoot it out so the plaza was a open warzone.

Some women were thrown away on garbege dumps or on pig cemeteries, some by zeta members, including Sergio rafael barraza bocanegra, protected by no other than CESAR DUARTE, Governor of State of Chihuahuas, PRIISTA...and his state police, PGE and SSP...for the cartel del norte, vs chapo, el PAN, the army and the policia federal, and the SSP of genaro garcia luna...
--They put up the war, cd juarez put the dead and the living... thank you...

    2. Umm I think your mistaken. In tamps they shoot it out with a death toll that usually reaches 20 or more bodies laying through out the streets. In Juarez now there were some major shootouts that have taken place but mainly its always a commando from either cartel picking people up one by one in a single night and then leaving them lifeless through out the street. Hardly ever any major shootouts within rival cartels. I don't praise any cartel but in tamps it is well known that cdg and zetas will call each other out so they can meet up somewhere to shoot it out with each other.

  9. It could have been the capture of zetas by the cdg. If you place close attention to the article, comandante beto was executing people after he said there was going to be changes. Why would he kill his own people. Zetas are falling apart. All the leadership is being captured. What perfect time to hit them hard in their forward positions leading to N. Laredo.

  10. Well the thing is one place is dangerous than the other than it goes around but the point is Mexico should not support these cartels. Juarez was the deadliest city in mexico from 2008 to 2011 (correct me if am wrong) but anywhere you go in mexico there where murders and kidnappings soo im saying its not just a city or state thats dangerous its the whole country that is a warzone
