Zeta Redaction

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. According to State sources, 15 people died in a confrontation, between elements of Attorney General of the State (FGE) of Jalisco (occident de Mexico) with a cell of presumed criminals.

The first reports indicate that a group of armed civilians confronted a group of Agents of Jalisco Regional Forces, in the surroundings of San Luis Soyatan, in the town of San Sebastian del Oeste, in the Serrana zone.

The confrontation was preceded by the ambushing of Police officers by presumed criminals believed to be CJNG, who blocked the road to Las Palmas with burning cars, then opened fire on the State Gendarmeria.

This happened during a high influx of tourists was recorded in San Sebastian del Oeste, who were unable to start back to their destinations on the recommendation by members of Security Forces, as they could not guarantee the safety of the tourists on their journey.

Hours later the Attorney General confirmed that 15 people had died, at this time its not clear how many agents and or criminals are among the dead. The area was immediately reinforced with more agents of the immediate reaction force, in collaboration with elements of the Army and National Gendarmeria.

According to the first indications, the aggression could come from members of the CJNG who formerly disputed this territory with Los Zetas, and have recently intensified hostilities said the Directors of the Regional Force.

This past week the State Commissioner for Security, Francicsco Alejandro Solorio Arechiga, was assaulted by members of the criminal group in alleged retaliation for the death of Heriberto Acevado Cardenas, in another confrontation registered in Zacoalco de Torres.

Last week there was another attack against members of the National Gendarmeria in Ocotlan, that left 11 dead.

According to the public servants, among the victims are Basilo Aguirre, head of the single Force, and Miguel Angel Caicedo Vargas, Head of the Corporation of the Municipality of Zacoalco de Torres.

The first battle occurred around 14:50 pm on the Mascota - Las Palmas highway, in the village of Soyatan, in the town of San Sebastian del Oeste, where an armed group attacked agents who were travelling in convoy from the Metropolitan Zone of Guadalajara, in this confrontation there were 15 deaths.

The consulting functionaries, said at the scene of the attack they found spent cartridges of different calibres and shrapnel from fragmentation grenades.

At the same time, other members of the group made several blockades with burning vehicles on the same highway.

According to the functionaries, minutes after occurred and confrontation in the town of Zacoalco de Torres, during which the Municipal Chief Caicedo Vargas was killed.

After the confrontations they activated the State Code Red alert, and until the close of this edition neither the State of the Federals have given an official version of the casualties.

For the afternoon and evening of Monday, the State Prosecutor confirmed in a communication that the attack was by armed men against the State Single Force.

He indicated that the aggression unfortunately some of our elements were hit by bullets.

He signalled that the attack was a reaction to the investigations and recent detentions after the attack on the Commissioner for Security in Jalisco, Alejandro Solorio Arechigo, on 30th of March in the town of Rio Blanco in the Municipality of Zapopan.

Extra Forces arrived to capture the criminals, but there is no information on any detentions.

  8. I live in Mexico and this is why I do not like to drive long distance. Because you have to pass through areas where there is conflict on route to your destination. People do it because they have to at times. People say it is safe here in Mexico. Not true. If you are an American living here like you have to take extra measures to make sure your car is not stolen, or wheels, stereos and more are taken. The criminals are very brazen. I have to keep my house built like a prison to keep the criminals out. It is like that all over Mexico, and for a reason. It is dangerous. I have one friend that came from the USA to visit. He had his truck stolen out of the Soriana parking lot. Has not gotten it back. The next time in another vehicle he parked there again with a new sophisticated alarm system. They used magnets on the doors to dis-alarm the vehicle and stole everything out of his vehicle. You may not get killed in the resorts. But like the Mexican girl sitting under the palm tree and arrested for being on private property. The police are looking at ways to fleece the tourists. You really need to know how to protect your belongings and money in the tourist areas also. I have learned at a great cost. Now if you live in a gated community not much will happen. But you need to be more affluent to do that. I drive defensively. I try to leave an out even when I pull up to a light. I know I can be carjacked at anytime. It happens a lot here and I know a lot of people that have had family members robbed even after making a large withdrawal coming out of a bank. Even the tellers can call their cohorts to let them know that someone is exiting the bank and they are just waiting to pounce. If you do not want to become a victim you have to minimize your chances of becoming one. Smart Mexican people know what to do here and they still are victimized. The police are vultures just waiting to take and take. This article shows just how dangerous it is for tourists to travel in Mexico. You may be lucky and have never had anything happen to you. But that is just it in a lot of cases. You are lucky.

Why do you choose to live like that? Are you originally from Mexico? You are right. The way I see it though, is why spend tons of money to vacation in forts? If you need a similarity to Mexico so much, build a fort in Az near their Mexican community and vacation there. I understand you have to be safe anywhere you travel, but in Mexico it exceeds safe. It is more of a fear. Why bother to even go. Yet people continuously do it despite the constant information providfed to them. Everyone then has to feel sorry for their irresponsibility when something happens to them.

    10. I am 7:58

I work in Mexico and I make excellent money. 11:02 number two. You type horrible. I can drive across the USA and not worry about Narco roadblocks, Federal or military roadblocks or vigilante roadblocks. I can park at rest stops along the way without a worry. My Mexican wife will not even let me talk to people on roads out on the open highways. My friend that lost his truck here also works for a big company in Mexico and he has for many years. He recently was stopped by 16 armed Narco's with heavy weapons. I was stopped in Cosala once by 13 armed men. They thought I was DEA, and I was able to talk my way out of that as I can speak in Spanish and have a way of dealing with people. They were going to shoot me and there was no question that they would do it if I was not on my game. Funny thing is after I convinced them they invited me to have a few beers with them right there on the road. I accepted. The right thing to do. They also said they would watch my back why I was there. If I could do this in El Paso and earn this kind of money I would be there in a heartbeat. My wife just got her Visa, she went with me to El Paso. She like many other Mexicans want to live there. She was surprised the houses were not fortresses. Not very likely a drug addict will cut my throat in Hollywood if I am in the right places and not doing anything illegal. Far stretch. Look at Acapulco and the streets here with hundreds of police and military driving around like you are in an occupied county. There is a reason for this. It is because it is dangerous. My wife was shocked to see 3 police cars in El Paso in two days. In two days here you will see hundreds. When you see cars chained to trees and posts it makes you actually smile while shaking your head.

It's simply not fear of what happens in Mexico it's reality. Bad shit happens to good people in Mexico. I don't know one place in the US where the criminals would block a road with burning vehicles in order to ambush police and the military. So don't compare this shit to Chiraq, Watts or Detriot. This violence shit in Mexico is on a completely different level. I know some hardcore Mexicanos that ran dope for El Zorro de Ojinaga in the 80's and Amado Carrillo in the 90's who won't step foot into Mexico unless they have to. They tell me there are no riules and the new generation don't respect the old timers. I would believe these guys who use to be in the game before I would listen to some kids on the internet.

You are so right on the money. I have lost some here in Mexico that were very good friends. They as I have and had nothing to do with drugs or criminal enterprise. They were actually killed because they would not play and help out the criminals. The last person was awesome and he was killed because he would not pay the extortion the criminal groups wanted. I am always worried about my friends and I only befriend good people here in Mexico.

    16. 8:57 I believe every word you just posted. I am the only non-Mexican married into my wife's family. My wife's generation and older were all born in Mexico so I hear first hand accounts of things that have occurred over there. My father-in-law grew up with Pablo Acosta and many other Mafiosos so I know he has seen a lot crazy shit. My father-in-law is pretty comfortable in his home town of Ojinaga, Chihuahua and when travels to get cases of sodas from Juarez but that's it. If he travels deeper into Mexico he refuses to drive his 2013 Chevy Tahoe with Texas plates. He will usually borrow a old clunker from a family member that has Chihuahua plates instead so he can blend in. Most Mexicanos that I know who are not blind to what's happening in Mexico operates similar to my father-in-law. I've seen a lot of crap in my 41 years on this earth but nothing compared to the stories on BB. Oh yeah I am 4:25pm. Hey Buggs, Chivis and Otis love your work keep it up. Shalom

  9. If this really was CJNG (which I doubt) they are no better than Zetas. Even dogs know not to eat where they crap; and this group of thugs will be cleaned just like zetas, LFM, CT, AFO, Los Mazatlecos, etc. Mexico may tolerate trafficking but sooner or later extotionists, kidnappers, and groups that threaten tourism will go down.

    2. No one would murder this many policeman without a very very good reason. CJNG had some high profile arrests recently, and this is certainly payback for those but I suspect there is more to it than that.

I suspect that, the take down of Heriberto Acevedo, El Gringo, has caused this unholy mess. With a message like this, I suspect that El Gringo had protection, paid for by CJNG. Messages like this massacre, are a letter of intent.

If he had just been another cartel member that had been arrested, CJNG would not have responded in this way, its not their modus operandi. They would rather pay the authorities than just keep killing them.

This was a message to their other benefactors providing protection in the Government, Army, and all Police Forces. That, if we buy your protection, and you renege on the deal this will happen.

  19. The 16 killed were police. This is one hour outside of Puerto Vallarta near a pueblo magico called San Sebastian. I've driven here many times and always felt safe and many bus loads of tourists go here often. 2 vans full of tourists, many of them American were holed up in the area until this morning due to this conflict. A definite blow to tourism. I noticed that PV gov seems to take crime more seriously than the rest of the country and typically prevents these issues, but something is definitely brewing. From what I was told, PV is Chapo territory, but when driving out of PV through Ixtapa (Jalisco) towards this area, it was the old La Familia group that has control once you cross this small bridge. Out the otherway heading North into Nayarit, that was Zeta territory, Punta De Mita, Guayabanos etc. Again, never felt danger, but the element of people in Guayabinos (sp) made me think this seemed like narco controlled territory..just a gut instinct.....PV has always seemed very safe and the people of that area are really good with tourists and seem to take more pride in their city than I've seen in other parts of Mexico. This appears to be something that could get ugly.

  24. Guadalajara (Mexico) (AFP) - At least 15 police officers were killed in an ambush by a gang in western Mexico, an official said Tuesday, in only the latest attack against Jalisco state authorities.

Five more officers were wounded in the assault, which took place on Monday on a highway near the village of Soyatan as a convoy carrying the elite state police unit headed to Guadalajara, Mexico's second biggest city.

"They died in a cowardly attack, which means that we can't let our guard down," said Francisco Alejandro Solorio Arechiga, Jalisco's state security commissioner.

"Fifteen of our colleagues lost their lives. Five officers were also wounded in this regrettable event, they're all in stable condition," he said.

The Jalisco state prosecutor's office had reported the attack late Monday but had not confirmed the fatalities, saying only that several officers had been "hit by bullets."

Officials did not identify the gang but a security source told AFP that they suspect the powerful "Jalisco New Generation Drug Cartel" carried out the assault.

Authorities say the assault appeared to be in revenge over the arrest of gang suspects in an investigation into a failed assassination attempt against Solorio on March 30.

"These attacks are a reaction of organized crime after the attack against me," Solorio said after a meeting of federal police, military and state security officials in Guadalajara.

Fifteen suspects are under investigation over the attack against Solorio. Four of them have been detained.

The assassination bid was itself a response to a March 23 operation in the town of Zacoalco de Torres in which three gang suspects were killed, the statement said.

In a separate gun battle four days earlier, gunmen opened fire on a federal gendarmerie police convoy in the town of Ocotlan on March 19, leaving 11 people dead, including five officers, three suspects and three bystanders.

    - Violent gang -

More than 100,000 people have died or gone missing since Mexico's drug war began to escalate in 2006 with the deployment of troops to combat drug cartels.

The Jalisco drug cartel has fought violent turf wars with the Knights Templar gang in the neighboring state of Michoacan for years.

The cartel emerged in 2010 after the death of Ignacio Coronel Villarreal, alias "Nacho Coronel," the top leader in Jalisco for the powerful Sinaloa drug cartel.

Criminals have attacked other authorities in Jalisco in the past year.

In September, a federal lawmaker was abducted as he drove to the airport near Guadalajara, Mexico's second biggest city. His charred body was found hours later in a neighboring state.

In May, a group of 30 gunmen armed with grenades ambushed a military truck near the town of Guachinango, killing four soldiers.

Tourism is too much of a money maker, for this to happen and impede on that business any. Tourist destinations will be secured. They should be a lot more trained than these guys how is it that a whopping 15 die and only less than 3 die for the cartel. Just plain disgusting and shows leadership is worth shit or they have the wrong people driving around with insufficient weapons.

    2. @April 7, 2015 at 4:00pm it's been awhile since the military and police elements have been hit this hard. I think the last biggest ambush against the police or military was when the El Lazaca led Zetas ambushed a military unit some years ago. This is not the norm though.

    3. That is true but it has happened in the past month in the same state. It seems obvious that someone within the inside is telling the Cartel where they will be because they keep getting ambushed.

    4. There are helicopters flying around supposedly looking for the bad guys, but agreed, how they can't launch quickly especially given the military bases are in PV and around PV. If they want to @#@ the cartel, all they need to do is go to the town of Las Palmas...They are all there and on the other side south of PV in Cabo Corrientes is where a lot of these guys have their activity including unloading drugs off boats in the coves

Actually It is the handle bestowed upon him by the legendary Chivis. Millie, Millie , Millie where are you? You are needed front and center soldier.

  33. The mexican army is not there to fight for the gendarmeria, or federales of any kind, just like they did in michoacan, they may accompany the federales, but will not move a finger to help no police, remember: "...a los Verdes no, a los Verdes no...? In michoacan, the mexican army sold out...

    1. I always say, I hope PV doesn't become another Acapulco. I still think that it won't, but I do think taking long drives along the coast and into the hills could start to carry great risk. sucks....I always felt safe there. I wanted to open a business there. that's on hold

  37. Mencho and his buddies are going down!
They believe they are stronger than the State, and they are wrong, like all the other cartel leaders from Caro quintero to lazcano!
