Texas: Arrest of 27 in Zetas Money Laundering Operation Which used Cadavers

Chivis Martínez for Borderland Beat
In Eagle Pass Texas, Agents of the DEA arrested 27 Coahuilenses, accused of money laundering; among the detainees is Remberto Castro Pérez, son of the former mayor of Morelos, Coahuila, the Remberto Castro. [ at left]

Along with Castro are   Homero Flores and Elpidio Jordan, the three are  a group of merchants and entrepreneurs from the Coahuila town of Morelos, but residing in Texas, who belong to Zetas criminal network and were transporting  drug money from the United States to invest business in Coahuila.  They will face charges before the US Federal Court of Del Rio Texas.

The group used various methods for the transfer money and drugs, including the ghoulish method of exploiting cadavers cavities of deceased Mexican nationals,  being transported  from  Texas to  Mexico for burial.

Yesterday Homero Flores appeared before the Federal Court of Del Rio, after being charged in Dallas with conspiracy, money laundering and other federal crimes.

Elpidio Jordan, resided in Eagle Pass and Remberto Castro Pérez was residing in the town of Morelos, Coahuila, Mexico.  According to sources, Flores had his residence on Grand Haven Street  in the city of Eagle Pass.  He appeared yesterday morning before a judge Federal Court of Del Rio, after being arrested last weekend and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.  He also maintained a home in the city of Cibolo Texas.

Likewise  arrested, but appearing separately , was Eagle Pass resident Elpidio Jordan, who was residing in the  Chulavista sector.

The charges come from the city of Dallas, where they will be eventually tried in the Eastern District Court.

Money transported to Mexico was invested  in various, such as,  gas stations, hardware stores, paint stores and other businesses, mainly in Five Springs, but also in other cities, such  as the capital of Coahuila Saltillo where they planned to expand a network of gas stations.

The Calderon administration issued a report, nearing the end of his presidency, that municipalities along its north border are 100% corrupt and in collusion with cartels.  Coahuila is controlled by Zetas, having wrangled control of the state from CDG at the time of the split.  Coahuila is the home base state for Zetas.

Coahuila state attorney-PGJE- commented that the US government had not asked for their assistance.

    2. Michoacan is the only state in mexico where the people are trying to get rid of drug cartels so your comment doesn't make sense.

    3. Texans would never let the cartels get them like micheocan has suffered. it would never reach the level it has already in Mich.the ad are acting like Texans and cleaning house ss much as they can under adverse conditions
They ate heroes, but if the ct tried the same thing in Texas, tuta would have been hung a long time ago WITH the approval of the governor.

    4. Even if tuta tossed the governor say like 25 million usd? I mean i'm positive he makes at least 100,000 time more money than the governor & america is homw of capitalism. I mean look at john silverstien, he owned the twin towers bought a "terrorism insurance policy" two months and a few thousand dead americans later and john cashes in! :) i mean can't you just get away with anything GLOBALLY with money... If you HIDE everything... & stay low key. It just depends on the cartel members & how out of control they are.

you could not be more wrong. I was anticipating something very different than what I found when I bought a home at the border of Texas. My sister and I were amazed how much we love it. Granted the little border city I settled in was nothing like my homebase state, but the people are the nicest, most helpful people I have ever encountered in any city of any country I have ever been in.

My house has not lost a dime in the real estate bust, unlike my homes in other states. Construction continued, real estate fine, affordable real estate and if one is not working, and are capable, it is because you are a lazy ass not because there are no jobs. It is a well ran state. impressive. The people are tough against crime, so what? So am I. GREAT people of Texas, had me at hello.

and now I am looking for a home in San Antonio. My Fave city in Tx.
I will never leave completely. If it wasn't for the crappy weather it would be pretty darn perfect.

    1. Yep. Welcome to Texas. Born and raised, frequent poster to BB. Texas respects the rule of law. As a criminal defense attorney, I see a few bad lawman but they get theirs.

  6. I have friends in the Austin area. It's really nice. However, you lost me with the whole tough on crime. Texas is like Arizona, in some aspects. A lot of crime is created at the cost of young people's lives. When it comes to marijuana, the penalty far outweighs the crime. Texas, like Arizona, penalties for mj is way out of control. The U.S. government has had marijuana on the schedule 1 control substance list for too long. Should change.

However, the zetas are murdering scum. The government's of Mexico and the US are playing with human lives. The Zetas are killing their brothers and sisters. Filthy dirty on both sides.

I am not a liberal, just a realist. So being tough on crime is a double edged sword. If you lock up all the sex offenders and victimizers, I agree in punishment. Taking people's lives away for weed I disagree with.

Nor trying to pick apart everything you pointed out, just saying.

Interesting article. This is info that should be told.

  10. They should have moved to Williamson County. There they a very tough on crime. Even sending the wrong person to life for killing his wife, which in the end he did not kill her.

  11. These people worked for the CDN faction of the Zetas. The CDN solely dedicates to drug/arms/human trafficking. They don't extort or kidnap.

  12. Finally, Zetas have been out of the main news for a while. Good to see they're getting some like the others.

  14. chivis you have not been dragged and decapitated by pulling you with a chain and a truck, which was ok, but the impunity the great state of texas gives to the murderers of john the bird, still makes me shudder, among BB's last few reports there is a report about abuses of immigrant children including the non prosecution of texas youth comission abusers, also i have lived in texas and had a few chances of experimenting the collusion of the immigration agents with ranchers, who get us picked up and repatriated without our checks, after working 12 hours a day for 7 days a week sometimes, now we have witnessed great mexican sheriff/texas lawman lupe treviño, who almost got away with impunity, as befits a lawman...
--some texans are mad at the rest of the US for electing a president of another race, and have stated their desire to secede from the union, forgetting that the US "bought" the state from mexico, rep louie gohmert demanding from president Obama to let "his" people go...
--as far as i am concerned, the only thing to come out from texas ismformer governor ann richards quote:
"poor george, he was born with a silver foot in his mouth"
of course , being there for the CIA and drug trafficking was good for poor george and his little boys neil and his savings and loans friends, jeb and his cuban drug trafficking friends, and for george W bush and his mexican drug trafficking friends, along with pirated oil trafficking from pemex and vp cheney's new heart from a "mystery" donor, and where president kennedy was murdered with impunity too, for the benefit of his texan vicepresident lbj, and his warmongering chickenhawks.
there is a lot of dirt about texas, dig it, you'll never see the end...

  18. bottom line it is law and order for the colored rabble and full sail impunity for the rich and apparently "educated" in tejas...
i'm sure if you are fair skinned you can ship cadavers to mexico without arising suspicions, hell the US shipped governor pellejos back to michoacan, and the living dead is now fighting like a bitch to exonerate his templario son.
the us cops at all levels also only try to find where is the money, after all the work has been done and the dope is gone, they like to find the best thing in the world, MONEY, other people's MONEY.

  22. Hey so i was just reading the comments on this article & i couldn't help but reply. I believe you when you say that you TEXANS would defend themselves against cartels. I want you and everyone to understand however that so would mexicans just like they are fighting them in the state of michoacan. The ONLY difference is that GUNS ARE ILLEGAL IN MEXICO & the only way for a Mexican to get a gun out in mexico would most likely be from someone connected to a cartel member or they would have to really go out of there way to find one. Mexicans can not just go to WALMART & buy a shotgun. So please don't flatter yourself, it's not Michoacan where the AD had to use weapons that they had to personally repair, or earn after killing cartel members. Some people began killing cartel members with sticks and rocks until finally they managed to take them from the dead templars. They are the TOUGH ones. Texans might be tough, but i doubt they're as tough, brave and courageous as MICHOACANOS.
