El Chayo Killed...Again

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat

Update: A few minutes ago the press office of the Interior Ministry (SG) confirmed a few minutes ago  the announcement of the death Nazario Moreno, alias El Chayo, early Sunday in the town of Tumbicastio.  He referenced the reported death of the capo in 2010, but said the body was missing.  (Since then towns people and autodefensas reported to the government that he was in fact alive.)

Also reported was that armed forces located Chayo who initiated a shootout confrontation which ultimately resulted in his death.  Fingerprints were used to identify the capo, but DNA studies are also being conducted.  The government credits their intelligence for the capture and gave no credit to the autodefensas that have been directing them to Chayo for over a year, and 300 of them were scouts for the operation that located Chayo.

Although, the government will take all the credit, it was in fact autodefensas who not only directed the forces to Chayo, who  was celebrating his birthday, but it was autodefensas who identified the dead man as Chayo.  Autodefensas had reported two years ago Chayo had plastic surgery that included his face and chin.
Chayo's body under guard
Earlier: Reports are circulating  that a man was killed in the mountains of Michoacán, who is identified as Nazario Moreno González, aka El Chayo, premier leader of Caballeros Templarios,  tests are being conducted to confirm identification.

The killing took place today in Tumbicastio, the area I wrote about on March 2,  regarding an intensive search with autodefensas and federal forces combing the area, in search of El Chayo and La Tuta, premier leaders of Caballeros Templarios.  This report followed my report from March 1, that autodefensas had located Chayo at a ranch used as a safe house in Tumbicastio.  Other reports indicate it was in Aguililla, which is adjacent to Tumbicastio.

The Mexican Marina (navy) were involved in the clash that resulted in the death,  absolute confirmation is pending...

The government claimed to have killed Chayo in 2010 in a massive shootout in the sierras of Michoacán.

Father Goyo confirms the death as being El Chayo, and that he was killed in a shootout in Tumbicastio.

It is reported that DNA was taken from Chayo's brother, arrested on February 18, 2014 and is  is being compared to the man killed.

Autodefensas  leaders confirm it is Chayo...

Chayo is the author of the code “of ethics” for La Familia Michoacana, the organization of which he founded and operated before is supposed death in 2010.  Templarios were a LFM splinter group formed after his “2010 ”death”.

Chayo teaches; torture and death of his opponents is "divine justice." The criminal organization  recruited its members from drug rehabilitation centers and asked them to stay away from vices and protect "the family unit".
In the city of Apatzingán considered stronghold of the Caballeros Templarios, and Chayo  is considered by many there a saint and the cartel, a form of religion.

The mayor of Apatzingán, Uriel Chavez, is the nephew of the now deceased “El Chayo”.
Using the name of the famous Catholic order from the medieval Crusades, Mexico's Caballeros Templarios ( Knights Templar) began as a cult-like splinter group of the feuding La Familia Michoacána drug cartel....continues on following page..
The split derived from and internal struggle between Jesús Méndez Vargas, "El Chango Méndez" who moved to take  control of  La Familia Michoacana. This enraged Plancarte Enrique "Kike" and Servando Gómez Martínez "La Tuta" who decided to form their own organization, and the majority of the group followed.

Below is a map I created and posted at the end of February

Below is one of the 2010 "death" photos of Chayo. Unseen is the massive leg and groin wound he sustained, which is evident in another photo (I am looking for) It will be interesting how the government reconciles the fact he was listed as killed in 2010  and was not even on the wanted list.  Although the 2010 reported death was during the Calderon administration, the Peña administration continued the fallacy, and never denounced it, in spite of  the autodefensas federation insistence that  he was alive.

However, on March 4th, journalist Carlos Loret de Mola reported that "government sources" revealed it had 2 recent photos of Chayo and that he is alive.  Other reports offer the leader usually wears all white and rides a white horse through the sierras, appearing as the mythical character he is thought to be by some.

There were reports that Chayo had undergone plastic surgery

  6. Chivis,

Do you have any opinions or leads on why the PRI is taking out the narcos?

Is this in relation to the foreign oil investors wanting to do business in a safer country?

I don't understand the current politics when PRI allowed it to happen in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Probably has something to do with the autodefensas and the threat of revolution and removal from power. When narcos started messing with the people and the people responded it probably scared them shitless. They tolerated them before because they made money of the drug trade and nobody complained because the people tolerated them aswell but now narcos are messing with the people itself.

    5. @4:08pm: I'll go with that. Whatever-Whatever, Caro Quintero figures large in this karma. Of all these guys, Caro Quintero got shafted by los gringos and his good buddy, biz partners in cahoots w/ DEA helping out the CONTRA counter revolution w/ blow & guns. Zealous fool that he was, Kiki Cammerra didn't deserve to be tortured or killed. Figuring out that cocaine was financing the CONTRAS cost him his life, murdered by DEA. Caro Quintero isn't a natural born killer like the rest. He doesn't have to lift a finger. Not a power on earth exists that will stop the karma coming out these dirty rats' lives. Cause & effect is the one true law, can't be bought, can't be sold.

The PRI were deposed in 2000, the decade since and into 2012 were the PAN.
    The "War" was Calderon's.

    The PRI will bring Peace.

  9. PRI is taking out the narcos because they want to bring their own. Under PRI every organization was allowed to operate freely but jsut on the territory they were assigned to. Then PAN came to power freed Chapo and all this mess began. Now PRI is trying to bring them down because they were a produc of PAN. PRI will assign everyone plazas and make everyone play nice then they will take credit for reducing the violence to continue to be in power.

I think there's always a balance between wanting the narcos killed/arrested, and reasons for them not to be killed (bribery, threats, can't find them, etc). They essentially DO want to find them, but in the hort term the reasons for not catching them may outweigh the reasons for.
For example, it seems as though Z40 was cooperating for years with the DEA, feeding them enough valuable information that they decided it was worth it to not arrest him, and as soon as he ran low on information for them, it became a better deal for them to arrest him.
Of course it's always more complicated than what it appears, and there are likely MANY more factors contributing to their a) wanting to arrest them, and b) choosing not to. But I think it essentially comes down to which way the scales are tipping more.
With respect to the foreign oil investors: I agree that they're putting pressure on the PRI to safen up Mexico, but that's just one of many reasons for them to safen it up. Every industry is affected by it, namely tourism, as well as the PRI's reputation.
Chivis definitely knows more though, I'm interested to hear!

Over the last decade, Mexico’s oil production has dropped more than 20 percent, falling to 2.5 million barrels a day in the last quarter of 2013.

Last week, Pemex reported a $5.8 billion fourth-quarter loss, its fifth straight.

There is no doubt reform is badly needed just take a look at the U.S. shale revolution and the jobs that it has created.

Reforms would jump-start oil and natural gas production, bringing down energy costs within Mexico and, in turn, boosting the industrial and manufacturing sectors.

Also, the tourism sector has taken a hit.

Few people want to invest/work/travel to Mexico unless there is a semblance of safety

It also pools behind the ears I think. Either that Or he was on his face long enough or blood to pool in the face and harden up and cause those funky spots.

  63. during PAN 12 years at the helm of the federal government from the presidency, the mexican army continued to take bribes and protect narcs, the federal police continued to protect cartels on their turfs, priista governors continued to rob their states, and allowed and assisted pan and prd governors do the same, for a piece of the cake of course.
at the same time everybody continued robbing the mining companies, milking pemex, wiout accountancy, kidnappings, extortion, murders and disappearances spiked like never before, the resulting destabilization brought back el pri, as on cue, really, on time for the privatization of pemex BY FOREIGN INVESTORS, who have been paying for all this mayhem and making the big bucks from the drug trafficking, let's not blame the PAN for something el PRI did, the PRI never stopped controlling corruption in the country, they stepped it up, and the results show who was the winner, the PRI has always stabbed their friends on the back, specially while holding hands in the friendliest handshake, the PRI has never let down their foreign masters, and this won't be the first time, the lackeys will make a pretty buck again, the monkeys will be fucked up again, and crime will rise again, by the federal police and the mexican military and their death squads, there are many rich people in sinaloa, and wherever they are, money will change hands all over the country, outside of the law of course...

I dont get why la familia michocana split then if chayo was the max leader but didnt die or get arrest in 2010.The whole fraction of la familia was thought to be cuz chayo was killed and his two underbosses tuta and el chango went different ways and started killing each other. I wonder why chayo didnt stop the familia michocana from breaking apart and who was he with before his REAL death like was he with los caballeros templarios or was he not in business anymore.

  90. The govermnent is totally wrong for taking all the credit when, in fact, it was the autodefensas who led the feds to El Chayo. The feds can't do the job without the help of the autodefensas. I give most of the credit to the autodefensas and the Michoacan citizens because they're the ones taking care of business. I live in Mexico and when I watched the news report yesterday morning on El Chayo the govermnent gave no credit to the autodefensas which I found offensive. We who live in Mexico know that the autodefensas are the ones who deserve the credit. If the feds hadn't done it I'm sure the autodefensas would've taken care of it.

I've replied to a hand full not one got thru and I'm sure others reply but never get thru. If a reply is posted is a pg version of what was originally said, never to the same level of the insult that was commented. If you're gonna let the racism thru at least be fair about it and not show favoritism towards one side. Gets a lil annoying when the comment was nasty and not one reply.

  93. @9:01 a saddening comment, the chinese pay six to seven times better than arcelor-mittal, who is just shutting out the independent miners, locking them out of the market, probably only reports half of the production, pays no taxes to the mexican government, receives subsidized electricity, got pena nieto to kick the michuacas in the nuts, and i'm sure they had something to do with a few murders to heat up the plaza to get everybody up in arms against the zetas at first, after they helped the robbing of SICARTSA, the familia michoacana next, for robbing arcelor-mittal, and the ct for not submitting, and continued dealings with the
chinese, the eternal rivals of india and arcelor-mittal, since the opium wars. arcelor-mittal got it all moving, the government never cared for the people, they care about their masters, the ones with all the money, the ones that will pay epn his table scraps, on cd Lazaro Cardenas, it is arcelor-mittal.
