El Chayo: buried weaponry cache located and additional death photos

Four women  retrieve the body of Chayo-
the woman front second left is Chayo's only sister

Update 3.16.14: Chayo's funeral was conducted today at the La Cruz Funeral home, in Altozano, Morelia, Michoacán.  A small group of mourners gathered at the luxury mausoleum in the state capital, including his sister and 3 nieces. I had posted the link to the funeral home directory yesterday, (see hyperlink below).  The website boasts "a private exit", among other amenities.  Place of burial was not made public.  Photo of lobby below.

A hoard of heavy artillery was discovered yesterday in an area El Chayo was known to operate in.  Nazario Moreno González, aka El Chayo, maximum leader of Caballeros Templarios, was killed by federal forces last Sunday.
With intelligence and guidance by the Michoacán Autodefensas, federal forces located the leader in Tumbicastío, a municipality in the sierra mountains.  He was killed in a shootout, in the shootout several of his guards were wounded and taken into custody.
It was information given by detainees that led authorities to an area in Cerro El Negro, Tumbicastío, in search for the weapons buried underground.  Federal forces observed freshly disturbed soil at the location indicated by the detainees, and began digging resulting in the discovery of the cache:

11 rocket launcher
4 grenade launchers

15 guns –one with an engraved Templarios cross-
3 pistols

4 rocket launcher fins

78 magazines
1300 rounds of ammunition of various calibers

  8. it's interesting... when i see signatures in mexico, educated or not so much... there is always the squiggle ending. it must be left over from the spanish. many mexicans cannot write, only print. when people who work for me are paid each saturday many can barely print their name and occasionally only with a mark or X. obviously, in mexico it is more important to have 'wits' to survive rather than an education. most educated mexicans i know are severely under employed or have their own business with little connection to their education.

    1. I agree, some of the smartest people who I have alot of respect for and have accomplished alot more than pochos with all the opportunities handed down to them are paisas who came to the USA with nothing. Yet their education bacground would be lucky if they made it to the fourth grade. Having been responsible from as young as four years old working on the ranchos will do that. I don't believe their writing always shows their true intelligence.

I have worked in education systems of mexico for 10 years. that is simply not true. it is very unusual for students not to be able to write. now if you say they are poor readers and do not read for leisure, I would agree. but learning to write is a basic skill and longhand is introduced around 9.

    1. Chivis I respect you alot! I just have to say the Mexican school system does have high standards as far as penmanship and mathematics. But thats for the people that are actually able to go to school and complete it. Lets face reality not everybody has had that opportunity. Many have had to work from a very young age to help support their family, and maybe only had one to three years of school. I'm not making excuses for capos, but if they had better penmanship that would probably mean that they had higher education and would not have chosen the life of CAPO but be corrupt politicians! By the way we all hope you get better!

  14. 12:41 ALWAYS? do you always generalize? that is dangerous. I only said what I know, Chapo is illiterate...that would be one capo. and MAYbe Chayo.

Why is it important. that is something I have written about many times. you must be new or completely ignorant of the impoverished and uneducated in Mexico. How certain groups of children are ignored, deemed unimportant and forgotten. This develops into a massive (60% pop impoverished) pool of recruits for cartels.

In Chapo's case, his brilliance in business shines, and I wonder what an education, with that natural ability, would have led to in a world of Mexican educational equality. Mexico doesn't realize how many leaders they suffocate because of their origin, color of skin, or station in society.

--el chayo bought a lot of impunity from the army on the area, policia judicial federal never could touch him, he was no match for the AD that finally put the moves on him, the marinas on the hunt for him, could not reach him, lawyers on his pocket, governors, senators, presidents of the republic, zetas, as highly inteligent as illiterate, what a waste.
--el chayo's ignorance got the best of him at the end.
--the AD's ignorance has them on the ropes against the federal government, all the people's work to recover their peace and dignity is at risk of being neutralized for lack of professional assistance.
--the AD need to reach out to business managers and professionals to assist their movement to not lose what they have struggled to attain and so many have paid with their lives for, or the government will steal it and restore the traditional exploiters.
--like miguel angel gallegos godoy and arcelor-mittal, and last but not least, the new cabelleras kagadas under el americano's new leadership.
--if the new mata-amigos can't help the "demisal" of his own friends, what can the ADs expect?
--another master with hungry pockets selling them down the river?
--i hope not! the AD need to go back to locals only, the people they know and respect.
--the "reformed" templars were not needed before, when the AD were nothing, they are lucky they are not in jail, that should be enough.
--let them earn their pardons working somewhere else, not as the armed sicarios of el americano.
--all of them should be disbanded or reassigned, not allowed to become their own new reorganized army of crooks...
--the imprisoned AD menbers should be on the bargaining table as soon as possible too

To learn to read and write... you need Ganas and not a govt education system... look at America with all its govt education systems k-12 and it still produces a bunch of dummies who can't write or read what their diploma says... Govt programs don't give you Ganas to better yourself in this world... Las tienes "Ganas" or no las tienes... In Mexico people choose the Narco education instead of the Govt class room... Chapo has Billions and his children are going to take his place soon... just like El Mayo "MZ" they are the new generation of Narcos... taught well by their parents.

  27. Hola...up for an hour :)
I see thousands of children deemed attrition by mex gob and society, maybe they are poor, maybe "Indio" whatever, education is not easily available to them, and no matter what the hell Mexico says education is not free, the corrupt schools charge a little tax r fee for this or that, and when you are talking 15 dollars or sometimes more and you have two kids, that may be impossible, because you have to buy supplies, or transportation. not every municipality has schools or even teachers. like Chapo. In the mountains, or rural areas.

So much talent never tapped into. I had a brilliant kid I met on a construction site, I was building a school. He was completely illiterate, but taught himself a crude system of math using rocks.. I took him under my wing, and sent my tutor to work with him.

In one year he was reading well enough to learn the computer I gave him. I sent a computer tutor as well. He graduated to middle school in 1.5 years with some of the highest scores in the state! He is now confidant and has dreams. I pledged his tuition if he wants to study at the university. And he is the nicest, coolest kid I have met in Mexico. Narcos almost got him recruited one summer when he visited buela in Monclova. But dad took care of that BS. and brought him home. Studying 5 hours a day 7 days a week to catch up, can be grueling and break the best of kids, but he got back on track.

there are millions of children like my Pepito, who just need an opportunity, and hope.

    3. I attended Mexican schools from 1978 to 1984 ( 1st grade to 8th grade) and I can tell you on those days Mexican curricula was more demanding compared to American standards specially in math. Although hard to believe on those days cursive writing was not part of any subject of study there. When I moved to the US, I remember having trouble when asked to sign my name because I was never prepared to sign documents but I didn't have trouble with trigonometry taught to me at 8th grade in Mexico. The problem with Mexican education at the time it was not customized for specific careers. It seems to me education there, now looking back, education was intended to prepare you for an academic career and not a technical degree. This system causes students who are not performing at that level to drop from school and usually they are the ones moving to the US for better opportunities. Their reasoning is "if someone with a degree struggles to survive financially there, they don't even have a chance there" so they move here for the American dream.
I can bet you there is an overpopulation of graduates in academic fields creating a lack of educated people on technical jobs.
Here in the US, school advisors prepare your schedule depending on your academic wisdom with the principle not everyone is going to be a doctor or engineer and the job of the advisor is to direct you into a technical career. Somebody has to change the oil in your car, or fix your ac, etc and here in the US technical schools prepared students for a job depending on your level of intelligence. Mexico didn't have and probably doesn't have a system to keep students if they cannot meet the demand of a curricula primarily for academic and not technical degree.
To make the story short, even people with an education in Mexico will not be prepared to sign in cursive until they get a job!! And unfortunately most of my Mexican counterparts living in the US are people that unfortunately economic and social reasons force US to move to the US and pursue the American dream. The advantage immigrants have we are resourceful in finding solutions to problems and usually get the job done.
The morale of the story don't judge a person for his signature but for he has been trained at a school or experienced in life.

We the mexican beneficiaries of their education and high training don't have anything to show for it, they have all the impunity for their corruption and murdering ways.
the highly educated training they got under the all powerful and protecting arms of the CIA and global bankers produces big benefits for their masters and fruit vendors that discovered that the good life consists of vending fruit and tamales on the US, and it is a more honorable and ethical way of living than that of the ambassadors of good will that come and corrupt our highly educated keepers of the flames of democracy.
thanks to the friendly gestures of the educated pawns of the global masters of the world, Mexico went from a revolutionary nation whose wars were financed by the US fron the start, to the narco-democracia of vicente fox to the narco-fascsista banana republic of today.
see, google etc: the United States of America, a banana republic?
chivaaa! a big help to the education system would be a report from a credible source on the corruption of those running the education system in Mexico, and their impunity, how much the country spends on it, how much gets stolen, by who, their accomplices, and the consequences we all pay.
the political doctrine that "a poor politician is poor at politics"should be changed to: "a rich politician is as good as dead".
joseph stalin, was'n the boss or the money, he never touched his paycheck, and his country went places, same as other leaders of the communist world, the slave communist workforce paid for their progress with their slavery, the free world workers of today are paying for the extravagant way of life of the modern neo-capitalistas of today that don't even try to disguise the evil purposes of their shenanigans, and have us on our way to be the new exploited masses of aspiring millionaires without education...
" ...president obama wants eveybody to go to school and obtain a college degree, to become 'snobs' like him ..." Rick Santorum catholic republican presidential candidate, still hopeful...
" ...no more abortion clinics in texas... " Rick Perry, texas governor, presidential hopeful, his sister's clinics can handle that, for profit, as it should be...
"rick scott pleads guilty to defrauding medicare" to pay less in fines while having to return more than 2 billion dollars to the US government... then buys the governorship of florida to make back the money in the crown jewel of the drug trafficking state (!!!?????!!!)

  55. Hey, Chivis at 10:47 a.m.: This is from a post yesterday on Valor Por Michoacán, about El Americano and the H3. They pretty much are calling for him to get rid of all the ex-Templarios:

  57. If I was a relative of Charles Manson I would not tell anyone, let alone claim his body out of shame. You have a mass murderer here that makes Manson look like a choir boy. If he was my father, brother or whatever, I would distance myself from him as fast as I could, and maybe even change my name. Some of these people have no shame, and even in death want to honor this garbage. They are probably sad that he got caught. Total family is apparently garbage!

  63. 3:10...
actually Chayo is just a nickname for Rosario or Nazario which both mean rosary. Rosario is feminine or masculine name and is the more common name.

  64. Thank you Chivas. I now know that Chayo doesn't mean something more sinister as I once did.

  67. Does Canada have states or provinces also do Canadians even call them states?

A Canadian would never call their province or territory a state.
That would be like an American calling their leader a Prime Minister.

  72. Why does strolling through London feel like strolling through Lagos?

Due to the children inhaling sewage gas from plastic bottles full of human waste, I suppose.

Haven't observed them myself, but then I don't go to London more than once every few years.

means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It is beautiful worth enough for me. Personally, if all website owners and bloggers made good content material as you probably did, the net
will likely be a lot more helpful than ever before.
