Video: Autodefensas "Hunt" for Caballeros Templarios Leader "El Tucan"

Chivis Martínez for Borderland Beat

"In search of the regional Chief alias “El TUCAN”, who went fleeing as the cockroach that he is.

These are men who risked their lives to bring freedom to their land and they succeeded.

And now they are giving their lives to help others liberate.  They are human and they are afraid, but that does not stop them. Yes  they find danger in their journey, but they don’t stop or run away, on the contrary, with valor  they continue moving forward.

The least we can do when they come to our city, is to show that we also are men and are ready to give our lives for the freedom of our families putting an end once and for all the CO.
Sincerely,  ValorXApatzingán”.

Story of what occurred more or less..after liberating a community from CT, they scour the outskirts searching for the return of trouble.  If they apprehend the plaza leader he will be given to federal authorities.

"Gentlemen, prepare for searching Caballeros Templarios, the hunt is about  to begin, grab your weapons, put  your flak jackets on  and  board the trucks that are going  for them," shouted a group leader of the autodefensa in Parácuaro.
"For many years they abused all of us, so in each new town,  we want to annihilate them."
This self-defense group is  led by Simón, “El Americano”  who is a member of  the Parácuaro autodefensa. Since  Jan. 4  they have barricaded themselves in the county seat, but after five days they left  to do what they call "hunting Templars . "
Pursuit is  always done during the day and with at least 100 heavily armed convoy of 20 Humvees men.
"there is the house of El Tucan , one of Caballeros Templarios plaza leaders, he heads of plaza of  organized crime in  Parácuaro ".
Always ahead of the convoy are vehicles called Rinos, which are modified trucks converted into armored vehicles.

"The companions traveling on the Rinos are not alone, they know that behind them are many people that we trust, " said one of the commanders.

At 13:00 the operation began.  The trucks  circulated at  no more than 80 kilometers per hour to monitor for snipers.
"In these villages there are still Templarios , so it is very dangerous to ride around here, at anytime we can get ambushed ", narrated Daniel, while carefully watching the streets.
The group reached  Barrio Seco, where they  stopped because they observed  three trucks with gunmen escaped in the mountains. And the chase began. (noted by drawn circle on video of men escaping)
Someone used radio frequency to communicate ahead with the community to issue a warning.
The trucks arrived at the village of Ordeñitas,  they opened the doors of the vehicle and drew their weapons. The car stopped.
They knew it was where the “killers”  meet, and thought they maybe hiding there. They entered the building, but it was empty.
In searching for the plaza boss of Templarios, in a half an hour, more than 100 armed men arrived at the house of  the  alleged leader. They opened doors, entered, and searched  the house. But came up empty.
The "Templarios hunting" of the autodefensas  ended at nightfall. In the end, two houses were  secured and the arrest of a former informant of the Templarios was made.

So ends another day hunting for Templarios..

    1. I think it only can happen in michocan it just shows u how weak CT are lol. See they only have a strong presence in michocan n little presence in guerrero, guanajuato n mexico city so they don't have that much sicario they can just call. If ppl would revolt against the other cartels like CDS, CDG or the Zetas the auto defense groups would get smashed because they have thousands of sicario they can call upon. For example if ppl would revolt against CDS IN sinaloa, CDS can call sicarios from other states like Chihuahua, Durango, jalisco, sonora, baja California, colima, n so many other states they r in like also in southern mexico, n if that's not enough they can call ppl from Guatemala n other latin America n not to mention their ppl from the US.

CHIVIS I hope u kinda agree with me.

    2. Are you serious? And you think the army and state police would let thousands of armed sicarios roam around the city or allow a fullblown shootout to occur? NO! Even if they are on the payroll of these shit stain narcos, the government would not show support or protection of these idiots to look bad to the U.S.A. and then they will have the U.S. army take care of Mexico's problem. I doubt you live in Michoacan or have ever been there, CT is not weak, it is just that the peiple of Michoacan OWN MICHOACAN AND PROTECT IT! This same revolution can happen ANYWHERE in Mexico, as long as the people are willing to grow some BALLS! "They can call people from Guatemala n other latin America n not to mention their ppl from US" -_- theres nothing wrong with listening to corridos, but dude dont take them THAT serious lol. Look what happened to Pablo Escobar, he had sicarious from everywhere too!

    3. You are probably right about the auto defensas in michoacan not having the man power to take on the most dangerous drug cartel in the world like the cds. However the powerful symbolism of brave Mexicans fighting a dangerous crime organization is undeniable. I only hope that this can serve as an inspiration to Mexicans everywhere to begin to take back their country. Revolution is not so far fetched, the greatest revolutions have had worse outlooks than the current odds these brave men face against these well funded, sometimes trained and bloodthirsty narcoterrorist orgs like cds, cdg, z's, cdj. etc. Which aside from their numerous full time members they also include local & federal police, soldiers, not to mention the people they buy at all levels of government. Its a daunting task to say the least but the situation has reached a point where people are sick of the exponentially brutal violence fed up of being extorted & robbed of what little they may have and tired of being scared to live in their own land. I pray for these brave souls and I hope more will join the movement. QUE VIVA LA REVOLUCION!

And looks like there getting money from donations. And support from the army.

  11. Rogerrio I wouldn't be so sure. CDS has to protect its plazas like all cartels do , and it would be suicide for sicarios to gather in large enough numbers in one place to take on the sort of numbers the autodefensas can throw at a battle now. All cartels rely on psychological warfare. Its FEAR of what they may do that until now has kept the population subjugated. No cartel has huge numbers of hitmen , in comparison to the numbers of ordinary citizens.

Self defense groups have one major objective , drive the cartels out of the towns into the countryside , where they could make their meth , ship it to usa and not interfere with the general public. The CP will achieve that soon. They have the numbers now and the will to eradicate the CT from the majority of Michoacán towns.

The example set by the CP will be followed in other states where indigenous people have the right to self police It doesn't matter which cartel operates in that state , they will not be able to deal with the numbers thrown against them , and the organisation of thousands upon thousands of watching eyes and patrolling citizens , with nothing to lose and everything to gain there can only be one winner. Remember it is Fear of the cartels that subjugates ordinary folk where the govt have conceded authority to the cartel.
The autodefensas have NO FEAR of the cartels , in any way, shape or form. They have realised its purely a question of numbers. Look at the Rangers and Delta force , beaten by normal citizens in Mogadishu , it doesn't matter how highly trained you think the cartel sicarios are , even the best soldiers in the world can be overwhelmed by superior numbers of inferior soldiers. Especially in jungle or urban environments.

Pretty soon the cartels will return to smuggling drugs , and the extorsion , kidnapping , abductions will stop in Michoacán first , followed by other states

The towns policed by the autodefensas hold the only truly free people in mexico , every other place policed by government forces, be they police , federales , army , to a lesser extent the marines , are at the mercy of the cartels and the billions of dollars of bribes they pay to politicians every year , police chiefs , army generals and every body in between.

I guarantee you , every cartel in Mexico is watching the situation evolving in Michoacán and shitting their pants. They know the game is up in the near future for exploiting ordinary Mexican people , and they will have to melt into the background and do their business anonymously , the writing is on the wall , and the cartels know it.

    2. the soldiers need to be liberated too.
Military discipline has them subjugated a.d at the mercy of their "Superiors",they have to go and kill even the innocent if ordered, military criminals of any rank,IR no rank go and commit crimes and they are protected by the defense department, but if they refuse an order, from any superior,no mater what, they are good as gone, and no court will apply...

    3. Pretty well stated 3:44. However to even place these "dangerous sicarios" in the same sentence with RANGERS .. and especially Delta Force .. just ain't jivin'. I served in Mogadishu .. I know. Except we didn't rape little girls & kidnap kindergarteners. We also know how to mess a mofo up pretty good with our hands. We don't need BIG BAD guns to feel like tuff guys while shooting up an impoverished village. The work of candy-boy cobardes. But point understood .. numbers more than matter. As far as the bad guys .. looks like things are coming back around.

    4. .. and the SomaLi militia .. were more than just normal citizens in Mogadishu. Many of Aidid's men were well-trained fighters who @ some point had even received training from U.S. Special Forces. All told .. going up against a multi-million populated city in unfamiliar territory with only the # of RANGERS / Delta Force / SEAL's involved in that operation .. our guys were BLessed & LucKy to escape with the number of casualties they did. Even the best ant-eater in the world can be devoured by a large enuff colony. The auto-defensas must be well-armed & quite a bit of ammo to drive out & sustain their mission against the cartels. The cartels invoke much fear among the public. In my eye they are no different than Al Qaeda or Saddam's former regime as far as oppression & terror.

  12. Chivis, do you have any connections with hollywood. I think we need to chronicle the brave efforts of these people in movies. Then send the revenue collected from the movie to help support them.
I normally avoid hollywood flicks because I find them to be full of propaganda and it makes it hard to enjoy the story. However, I would go to this movie.

  16. It is good to see that Doc Mireles has been released from the hospital.

The "People's Militia" is advancing, moving against the criminal elements that had become so pervasive in their communities.

Understanding of the situation would be enhanced by an understanding of the terminologies used by the translators. In the above story, for example ...

Plaza - is used. It does not seem to describe:
    1. a public square, marketplace, or similar open space in a built-up area.
    2.a shopping center.

But some form of a social organization - such as a gang.

There is little doubt that with a better understanding of the phraseology used there would come a enhanced comprehension of the situation as it develops. I assume that most of the translating is done by Google Translator or some similar program.

A similar situation was found with regards the word 'tenure' to describe Poturo, ... 'a tenure near Churumuco'.

Google maps showed it as spot where the road made a sharp 'S' curve, around which there were a few buildings. An excellent spot for a road block, but 'tenure' was a term I had never seen used to describe a neighborhood.

Being new to Borderland Beat I am not trying to be disruptive, just trying to get a grasp on the situation and help to spread the message.

With reference to the remarks by rogerrio ...

    1. 10:02 hey jayhawk welcome to BB,I hope we can have a constructive relationship.
Plaza used to be a stronghold, then it became a center of reunion, like a garden or an open air market, now it is mostly the whole turf, where different gangs or organizations may work,in it,on it,for it,from it,with each other or against each other,it may be the center of the action, the city,or the whole state, the north, the south,,etc,it depends entirely on the claim, and on the enforcement...

  18. Hola Black Jack...
Thank you for writing. It serves as an opportunity to remind people that terminology and definitions are found here on BB by clicking on "Narco Terms" in the black band at the top of this post.

We use terms that are familiar in the narco war and are widely used. Your example of "plaza" is defined in US Spanish class as town square, in narco terms it is turf.

Thank you for being so respectful while asking about something you are not familiar with or are confused.

    Paz,

    Chivis

  19. I congratulate you Chivis (and other contributors) on the high quality of your translations. As an English speaker I know how Google Translate can destroy the meaning of things. Non-Spanish speakers beware of bad translations, for instance Google Translate of a Mexican newspaper had governor Vallejo saying I support Autodefensas, and in the same sentence saying Autodefensas must not be allowed to advance. The superb translations on Borderland Beat are VERY important. Love to Mexico from UK
