Report: Los Zetas is the Most Powerful Cartel

Note: The following is the translation  narrative of the video at the conclusion of this post.   To read the report link to Stratfor using the link at the bottom of this post.  Remember, republishing an article is not necessarily the opinion of the BB reporter, and in this case I would disagree with  the analysis in part, however the majority of the report presents sound information that would benefit readers...Paz, Chivis

Zetas are the most powerful criminal organization of Mexico, according to a report from the Stratfor.
The cartel, one of the most bloodthirsty in  the country, has been benefitted from the division of the criminal organizations on the first trimester of the year according to the report published this week.
The report titled "Mexico's Drug War: Balkanization Leads to Regional Challenges", makes an in-depth analysis of the five most important criminal groups in Mexico: The Zetas, Sinaloa Federation, CDG, CJNG and the Knights Templar.
The analysis evaluates the most important events related to organized crime in the last three months and explains the Mexican cartels have followed a trend of fracturing. This trend, which we are referring to as balkanization has existed for more than two decades and affects all of the criminal groups in Mexico.

The report that foresees an increase of violence in western Chihuahua, northern Sinaloa, Jalisco and northern Sonora, states: Zetas are currently the most powerful cartel in Mexico. They were formed when they split off from the Gulf Cartel in 2010, however both groups maintained homogeneous and growing, although the reports warn that the most important risks for both organizations is the split between CJNG and Sinaloa Federation.

The report points out the increase in operational capabilities of CJNG and Knights Templar during the first trimester of 2013.  In the struggle for the routes of drug trafficking towards the United States, the organization of the Beltran Leyva is isolated from the conflict between the Zetas and the Sinaloa Federation.

The report also points out the breakup of the Beltran Leyva Cartel into several groups: Independent Cartel of Acapulco in Guerrero, Los Rojos and Guerreros Unidos in Morelos.

The fragmentation is not reversing, at least not in the next few years says the trimester report. While the Zetas and the Sinaloa Federation continue to face new rivals and internal ruptures, their resources have not decrease.

Both cartels continue to extend their drug trafficking operations on an international level, increasing their influence and their profits. However, they will continue to confront within new reality, in which they are forced to collaborate with or fight with other groups, explains the report authored by Tristan Reed.
This balkanization in the spheres of organized crime,  is determined by Stratfor, the security consultant, and represents new regional challenges to cartels, who  with this  trend are forced to work with  groups or otherwise war against them.

About the Zetas, it emphasizes the risk of losing Hidalgo, their old inquiry, by the Knights Templar. The Knights Templar has made significant progress although violence has not increase, besides the Zetas continue a struggle with CDG for territories such as Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas since 2010.
According to Stratford, the Zetas will face in 2013, a lack of leadership. .continues next page

Sinaloa Cartel face constantly disputes for the control of the routes and the cultivation areas, against La Linea. In Chihuahua, so far, they have control over Los Mochis and Guasave, north of Sinaloa. It also continues with violent incursions against Zetas in Mazatlan, Concordia and Rosario, south of Sinaloa.

Internal violence between cartels in mountainous regions of Chihuahua continues at the same time that the people of Joaquin Guzman Loera “El Chapo” fight against La Linea for the control of the routes and the cultivation areas. On the other hand, the group known as Los Mazatlecos has maintained control over the plazas of the northern cities of Sinaloa such as Los Mochis and Guasave. However it has continued the violent incursions into southern cities such as Mazatlan, Concordia and Rosario,  with the support of the Zetas.

Stratfor analysis emphasizes on the danger that represents CJNG, which after being allied with Sinaloa Cartel, it became financially and operational independent conduct offensives against allies of Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, such as Los Coroneles, The Knights Templar and CDG.

Stratfor predicts the decline of CDG at least in the next few months. The death of Cardenas Guillen divides CDG into 2 factions: Los Rojos and Los Metros. On the first trimester of 2013, the internal struggles had clashed between the leaders of Los Metros: Mario Pelon Ramirez Trevino, David aka El Metro 4 and Miguel El Gringo Villarreal. CDG is the most fractured organization and no longer consists of just two opposite sides. However, Stratfor attributes the control of the Gulf Cartel and the majority of its factions to Mario Ramirez Trevino.

If Ramirez Trevino has really won, violence will decrease, at least in Reynosa.

The influence of external organizations such as Los Zetas, Sinaloa Federation or the Knights Templar sparks violence; it also informs that CDG factions are becoming more reliant on the support of Sinaloa Cartel and the Knights Templar to defend Tamaulipas from the Zetas.

The report indicates that the Knights Templar will maintain control over Michoacán and will defend it from any intrusion.  Stratfor points out that the citizens of Buenavista, Tomatlan created a community police to defend the operations of the Knights Templar at least in that community, although the appearance of the community police might also benefit the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion, finalized the consultant.

  2. so how exactly are LOS ZETAS THE MOST POWERFUL? it doesnt really say how they are as much as it describes the dynamics of the new realities of these groups, very interesting though regardless, to me, it doesnt matter who is at the top because of the dog eat dog nature only one or two groups can only stay there for a little bit of time before they get knocked off. mexico is too big for any one group to be top dog, people are too proud of their regions and will only support local home grown entities, regular citizens of mexico, i'd say you better start rallying together some weapons to defend yourselves against extortion and kidnapping

How credible is Stratfor Global’s assessment? What/where is their source? There was an article that was published by James Bargent last week claiming that the 'Gulf Cartel Now in Control of Cancún' ~ In the article, Attorney General Gaspar Garcia Torres claimed that presently there are (2) criminal organizations present in Cancún and the Riviera Maya (Coastal Stretch): CDG and Los Pelones. The CDG has reportedly driven out the Los Zetas out of Quintana Roo.

Milenio also reported that the region was in conflict with CDG, CDS, Zetas and Los Pelones.

Madame Chivis, I would agree with you regarding Stratfor’s over zealous analysis of Los Zetas. But then, Attorney General Garcia Torres’ claimant I question as well. Which cartel is paying his weekly payroll?

  8. The Zetas might have the most spread out presence, but they are certianly not the most powerful CARTEL in Mexico.
Everyone knows this is how it ranks.
    CDS
Zetas-BLO only because of their alliance
    CDG
    CT
    CDJ
    CJNG

  9. So how is Z40 doing as a leader? They always talk about the 'lack of leadership' and that the zetas have split under his rule because many of them hate him. But has he been effective nonetheless?

  10. If you read the actual report no where in it does state that the Zetas are the most powerfull in Mexico. It says they are the "other most powerful cartel in Mexico", the other I presume means that the author places the Sinaloa and the Zetas on par

  11. According to Stratfor CDG barely exists yet they are waging a brutal war against los Z. I dont believe this at all, Z are losing too much ground in Mexico for this to be accurate.

  16. In the Video they mentioned cds's gente nueva is still fighting CDJ's La linea. That is true, I live about 10 minutes from Ciudad Delicias in one of the little towns surrounding it I've been here since 2008. So how is it that in over 6 years chapo cant completely take chihuahua with his people, the local/federal gov, military & u.s agency help?? Like i said before chapo will never take Baja California, Tamaulipas, Nueno Leon, Coahuila & certainly NOT Chihuahua. Before you chapo fanboys start with “La Linea is bad they kill innocent people” even if they do so does cds/gn, so do all the other cartels, the evidence is there. Those 35 bodies dumped in the Veracruz highway a couple years back was gn/cds, turns out those people where innocent. So stop with the “that cartel is bad because they kill innocents“ BS.

Just remember ALL THIS MESS started when chapo tried to take over Juarez/Tijuana/Nuevo Laredo & other boarder cities over 6 years ago And he still hasn’t taken Chiwas & never will.

I remember when Juarez & other boarder cities where booming with tourism & now thanks to that little greedy fuck they become ghost towns at sunset people visit there family less often.

In Meoqui some drunk idiot (I don’t know if he was cds/gn) was brutally murdered by some locals. Now heres the important part, these guys that killed him weren’t CDJ/Linea, just more super proud Chihuahuenses. All the guy did was yell “viva sinaloa” & that was enough to provoke anger & get himself beaten to death & dragged behind a truck. I hope you that makes it clear, chapo will never be the “plaza owner” of any other state besides sinaloa.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If Chapo hasnt taken "jack" like you say why is he worth over a billion dollars? Do you think he makes all his money pushing dope around Cualican?? Idiot, dont let your hate for someone cloud your judgement. Chapo has influence over most major plazas in Mexico. He has been calling shots in Baja since Ramon got killed. You are proud, but stupid.

  24. I believe it simply for the fact that the Zetas have diversified into every facet of crime. Drugs, guns, human trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, larceny, money laundering, etc, etc. Sure CDS moves the most drugs but the Zetas are like a criminal virus that keeps spreading no matter what. Also, the Gulfs and Sinaloas always praddle on about how they don't kidnap and extort and this and that, but guess what? They are going have to sooner or later in order to maintain in the ever changing criminal landscape in Mexico. Im sure the Gulfs and Sinaloas already do what the Zetas do, they just don't admit it, still trying to win the hearts and minds of the people. However, in the end, they are all scum just like the Zetas.

    5.CDG
    6.Beltranes

The Zetas have lost some ground like in Zacatecas and Nuevo Leon but as long they have the routes to push drugs they are unstoppable. They move drugs through Guatemala,South of Mexico Veracruz all the way to Tamaulipas and Coahuila.

As long they have Nuevo Laredo and Piedras Negras as border unlock and have a big presence in Tamaulipas and Coahuila and Veracruz and some other states in the south of Mexico and Guatemala they all good!

    1. Problem is the sinaloa federation is probably 10 times more wealthy than the Zetas. Sinaloa moves more drugs into other countries so they have much more protection from top politicians in us and mexico. They have more elite soldiers than the newer zetas. Zetas are no longer have many ex gafe soldiers etc. the new Z receuits non trained street thugs who get gunned down at will. The old zetas had many elite specual forces kill squads, but theyve all been killed,

  33. It is really important to realize that Stratfor is seriously linked to the CIA in the US.
I'm not at all in love with a lot of the conspiracy theories that are so common in the US but the top guys in Stratfor are linked to US intelligence matters. Keep this in mind then that they may be tweaking their intelligence assessments for a domestic market (US). Right now the US citizenry is more or less in need of ongoing anxiety medication with one perceived threat or another from abroad (ie. Mexican drug cartels, the recent Boston bombing etc...). Stratfor by creating a "report" or documents that support the need for security will automatically get play time on tv and radio media, interviews etc.. Why? Tons of money spent by corporations on military and security.

Just because a few kids who have never been in the game sing that CDS is the most powerful cartel doesn't make it true. Face it, cartels rise and fall. Nobody thought that they're would ever be a cartel stronger then the Guadalajara Cartel and look, CDS came and surpassed them. And now the Zetas have surpassed them. I'm sure in a few years another cartel will rise and will surpass Zetas.

Get over it. CDS ain't number #1 anymore. Yes they move more drugs but that doesn't necessarily make you the most powerful cartel. Boohoo. Stop crying. It's not like if any of you are apart of it. And none of you have ever moved weight (and no slanging a few pounds doesn't make you a drug lord and it definitely doesn't give you inside knowledge about the Mexican underworld) so stop talking like you keyboard-sicarios/mafiosos/etc know what's up.
